Nosejoy September 2019 "Forest Fresh" Review

Nosejoy usually sends a welcome card with a note from the sub's curator, Emily McBride, and an info slip that gives Emily's description of each item in your box. For the first month of fall, Emily is taking us not just outdoors, but straight into the wilderness, with the scents she has included. And, oh my gosh, the theme this month might be one of my favorites of all time!

Kalastyle The Cabin Soap, 165 g — Retail Value $8.50

This bar of soap may look unassuming, but it's completely jam-packed with essential oils from various pine needles and barks that you'd find in a forest. Considering all the juniper, cedar, cassia, and fir essences that are included in this soap, though, it doesn't have an overwhelmingly woodsy scent. It's got kind of the classic "clean" smell to me, with subtle undertones of the good stuff. There are no phthalates, parabens, silicones, EDTA, or gluten in this bar, and it's cruelty-free. As with all Nosejoy products, it was made in the USA.

Juniper Ridge Smudge Sticks — Retail Value $14

Juniper Ridge is a brand I know and love from their intensely woodsy-smelling body products! We have several scattered throughout our house already, such as the solid perfume, body wash, and campfire incense. I think these sappy scents are traditionally thought of as masculine, but I love them for myself, too. I was eager to try these smudge sticks out, as I have only ever burnt sage before (which is included in this bundle) and know that Juniper Ridge has a knack for filling my home with the best aromas. All three included here does offer its own unique scent. Some of them were easier than others to get a good smudge going—some needed to be re-lit a couple of times before they provided enough smoke after the flames died down.

Paddywax Wild Fig & Vetiver Candle, 3.5 oz — Retail Value $14

It's been a few months since we've received a Paddywax candle in our Nosejoy box, and I've missed them! Each time I find one in my box, I'm blown away by how lovely the candle holder is. This month's is a neutral blue-grey ceramic bowl with beautiful speckling that adds to the natural vibe. The candle's scent is Wild Fig & Vetiver. I didn't know what to expect from that name, but it turns out it's a deep, rich, wood-meets-floral smell. It's wonderful.

Skin Apothetique Aspen Salt Glow, 2 oz — Retail Value $4.50

We're entering into dry skin season, so this salt scrub came at the perfect time. This product can be used either in the shower, rubbed on your skin, or you can just plop a scoop of it right in the bathtub for a bath-salt-type situation. When it arrived, its oils had separated a bit, but it wasn't leaking thanks to its secure foil covering (you can see what was left behind after I peeled it off in the photo above). The scent of this scrub is bright and natural, with a clear pine scent. I love it so!

Verdict: I wished this month's Nosejoy box would never end! Each forest-inspired aroma felt like it belonged in my home and in my life from the moment I pulled it out of the box. My favorite item this month was the candle both because of its unique scent and its beautiful ceramic holder. The scrub was a close second! This month's four items added up to $41, which exceeds the box cost of $34.95. I'm happy with this value, and Nosejoy always gets bonus points for supporting small businesses with every single product included.

Scentsy is an MLM which is basically a glorified pyramid scheme… I’d hate for it to be promoted here.

I understand where your coming from, but its a sub box that may be of no harm to try, with some yummy smelling products.

This box was my first Nosejoy box, and I loved it! I had been eyeing it for awhile and I’m glad I took the leap. For me, the scents seem natural and clean and don’t cause any headaches which so many scents tend to do for me. I looked carefully at previous boxes and this seems to be the norm for them. Yay. Such a fun curation and a lot of thought went into what was chosen to make it all come together. I’ve been looking for a nice monthly sub box with items that I didn’t want to give away half of them, and I am happy to say I think I found it. Plus, it shipped on time , was well-packaged with a great insert and CS has been super so far. Double-yay! Can’t wait to see what the rest of this season brings !

Aly, yes! I so agree with your assessment of this box. It’s consistently well-thought-out and the scents are always super-pleasant, which is important for a box with its theme! So glad you’re happy with it. 🙂
