Vegancuts Beauty October 2019 Box

Vegancuts Beauty Box
4.3 overall rating
40 Ratings | 8 Reviews

The Vegancuts Beauty Box is a monthly beauty and makeup subscription box. All of their products are vegan (and they tend to be natural, too). They also typically include a nice mix of full-size and sample beauty items. Vegancuts also offers a monthly Snack Box and quarterly Makeup Box.

This review is of the $22.95 a month Vegancuts Beauty Box.

Vegancuts Beauty October 2019 Bag

Vegancuts sends a single package to subscribers who get both the beauty and snack boxes. The beauty items are separated into a little bag, which looks like more of an environmentally-friendly material than the old bags. (If you do not get the snack box, I don’t think you get the little bag.)

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Vegancuts Beauty Box October 2019 Review

The Vegancuts Beauty box usually contains a variety of haircare, skincare, and bath and body products. There’s often one makeup product, as well:

The box came with this information card. I am liking the new design of the information cards with animal pictures on the front.

Vegancuts Beauty October 2019 Serum

Dirty Lamb Ultra Night Serum (1 fl oz) - Retail Value $52

This is primarily wheat germ oil with some other oils. It is supposed to be a source of antioxidants (I see orange oil), which is something I love in skincare. However, I am coming to the conclusion that it is not quite the right product for my skin type. I first tried it as part of my evening skincare routine, and you should know that I typically wear glasses around the house at night, and this sort of sat on my skin and wicked up my glasses frames and I ended up with an oil slick on my lenses, which is not cool. So, I thought, OK, maybe in the morning (when I tend to use facial oils more often, since I wear contact lenses during the day). And my face was shiny by the end of the day, which is not normally a problem for me (I use a mattifying primer, a matte foundation, and a finishing powder). I'm thinking I will use this on my neck since it is an area where I neglect skincare, generally, and where it won't get on my glasses. For the record, I have combination skin with an oily T-zone and it is mostly the T-zone where I had oil problems during the day.

Vegancuts Beauty October 2019 Weleda

Weleda Wild Rose Creamy Body Wash  (1.7 fl oz) - Retail  Value $3.49 (found here for $2.62)

This also comes in a larger package but I've linked to the travel size, since it is available for purchase on its own. I am really not familiar with all of Weleda's offerings other than a few of their pomegranate-scented products, so it is nice to see what else they have to offer. This does not have sulfates so it doesn't do a lot of foaming or lathering, but I did feel clean after using it and it rinsed off easily, and the rose scent was light and not at all cloying. I will definitely check out some of their other bath and body products now.

Vegancuts Beauty October 2019 Bath Bomb

Enfusia Bath Bomb in Eucalyptus Lavender (2 oz) - Estimated Value $1.84 (Buy 6.5 oz for $5.99)

This is a bit smaller than the full-size bath bomb; however, my bathtub doesn't hold a ton of water and this was a sufficient size for me to use. I did think this was nicely fizzy although I did not really get either a eucalyptus or a lavender scent from it (though I suppose what I did get out of it could be a combination of those with perhaps another scent or two added in). This didn't leave much in the way of residue on my skin after getting out of the tub, either.

Vegancuts Beauty October 2019 Mask

Midflower Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing Mask - Retail Value $5

This had directions that said something to the effect of leave it on until the serum dries but I wore it for 30 minutes (while in the tub with the bath bomb) and it didn't dry out. So, just use it for the amount of time you have! This was very moisturizing but didn't leave my skin sticky at all. For what it's worth, this said "made in China" on the package in case that is something that concerns you.

Vegancuts Beauty October 2019 Mascara 1

Vegancuts Beauty October 2019 Mascara 2

Vegancuts Beauty October 2019 Mascara 3

Emani Soy Mascara (0.35 oz) - Retail Value $20

This was listed as a bonus cosmetic item on the information card. I am not sure if other people received other items or we all got this mascara. Naturally, it came right after I bought myself a full-sized mascara. But I decided to open this one first. I am a fan. It shows up on my lashes but isn't crazy and dramatic, so it's suitable for work, which is when I tend to use mascara anyway. Also, and this is a big deal for me, but it actually comes off with makeup remover (I've been having some problems with other mascaras in this regard lately). Anyway, this was probably my favorite item in the box.

Verdict: I calculated a value of about $82.33 for this month’s Vegancuts Beauty Box. That's quite a good value for this subscription and even if one of the high-value items doesn't work for you, the other items together add up to a little better than the cost of the box. I am determined to find a way to use the serum, the mascara was a welcome surprise, and the other items were fun little ways to pamper myself.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Order by the end of the month to get that month’s box. (This was the October package.)

ACTIVE DEAL: $40 off. No coupon needed - just use this link.

Value Breakdown: At $22.95 for the box, you are paying approximately the following per item:

  • Serum $14.50
  • Body wash $0.97
  • Bath bomb $0.51
  • Mask $1.39
  • Mascara $5.58

OMG! That Dirty Lamb Night Serum is AWESOME!!!! My skin is so dry! I used double what is suggested and my skin soaked it up! I also wear glasses, but no oily slide down. Only soft sultry skin! I might have to splurge on this one!

Your skin and mine must be very different. (My skin is not dry at all, though, at least not on my face.) I think you can still get this box if you subscribe before the end of the month.

I got the box! I just didn’t get the mascara, which I would have preferred over the Aesthetica liquid strobe pen. The dirty lamb oil made the whole box worth it!

I’m really grateful vegan cuts offers allergen specific boxes now and then, since the big ticket item in this box is wheat based. I happen to be allergic to wheat in skin products, and was leery of vegan cuts because of how often wheat shows up. Their gluten free beauty box was amazing, though. And when they sent the wrong flavor of lip gloss they sent the correct one immediately, along with an extra item! I hadn’t even noticed the lip gloss was wrong. Great customer service.

I, too, use these serums and oils on my neck, arms, hands, knees, feet…anywhere my skin will benefit when they’re too heavy for my face. I’ll be 60 next month.

I skipped this month because I didn’t need any more serums (though I do love Dirty Lamb’s coffee scrubs)!
I do the same thing with face serums, use on neck and décolletage. Also, when I get too many hair oils (most never work for my hair), I use as a body oil especially on rough spots like elbows, knees. etc.
Btw I’m 54. And all of these wonderful products have been great for my skin!

I have started to use various toners, serums, oils & moisturizers that do not work on my face, for whatever the reason, on my neck, shoulders & décolletage. I find my skin in those areas to be far more resilient than on my face & I’m thoroughly enjoying how baby-soft those areas are now that I am pampering them as I have been. These areas of my body now feel the best they have felt in years & I am 45 years old.

Yeah, I have done some of that and it seems to be doing OK for this serum. (For what it’s worth, I’ll be 42 in a little over a week.)

Tammy

Same! I use them on my knees and elbows, especially in the Winter.
