YogaClub Guru Subscription August 2019 Review

This month, I received a pair of leggings and two tops in solid colors. Let's check them out!

Sometimes, little extras are included with my outfit. This month I received a coupon for Bright Cellars, a wine subscription. Read our Bright Cellars reviews here!

The Free Yoga Open Back Tee in Dark Pink, M - Retail Value $50

I love how soft and stretchy this top is. It's made of a 4-way stretch fabric that's moisture-wicking and fast-drying, so it's perfect for any workout or outdoor activity. The cut is fitted at the bust and arms but floats away toward my midsection. The back is wide open with a drape detail and showcases strappy or colorful sports bras.

Vie Active Disney 7/8 Legging in Black, M - Retail Value $96

Vie Active leggings are a hit or miss for me. I've received a couple of pairs in the past that would continuously slide down my hips. This pair fits well, though. They have a mid-rise waist that sits higher in the back for good butt coverage, and the fabric is thick with stretch and slight compression. For this brand, in particular, I find that sizing up helps prevent any sheering-out when squatting. The scalloped hem is a cute detail for an ankle-length legging.

Here are the pink top and legging together.

Chaser Tank in Cool Grey, M - Retail Value $55

The second top I received is this ribbed knit tank. The fit is much slimmer than the tee but not uncomfortably tight. I like that the fabric feels like thick cotton (it's 58% cotton, 38% poly, and 4% spandex) and doesn't cling as most athletic tanks do. The thick straps offer bra coverage, and the curved hem gives a bit of coverage at the lap and rear. I think this tank will work well as a layering piece for casual days as well as for workouts.

The Verdict: I like my YogaClub selections this month. They usually send a full outfit (bottoms, sports bra, and top) but I like that they included two tops for me. The quality of each item is right on par with what I typically find at sportswear stores, and I love that the pieces always coordinate. Since the designs this month are simple, each piece works into my existing athletic wardrobe seamlessly. I've already washed everything multiple times (cold water, hang to dry) and they are holding up well.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Everyone's box is curated to fit their specific style, needs, and size, so what I got in my box this month might be different than what you get. But that also means you might get something that you love even more! Get started here.

Value Breakdown: This box after shipping costs $83.95 and I received a total value of $201, according to the prices listed on the tags attached to the pieces I received. Here are the approximate costs of each item:

  • The Free Yoga Tee - $20.88
  • Vie Active Leggings - $40.10
  • Chaser Tank - $22.97

I really wanted to like Yoga Club because my fitness wardrobe is struggling. I was excited to give this a try but so very disappointed when my box arrived. The quality just wasn’t there and the whole outfit looked extremely awkward. Nothing like what I’ve seen modeled/advertised on places like instagram (should have expected :-P). I took a peek at the preview of the next month’s box and the colors were insane. I tried swapping my pieces, but nothing that looked remotely better was even available to swap. Cancelled because I’m really better off looking elsewhere for the value.

Agree, I love the idea but they could not get it right. I realized I had spent nearly $600 and didn’t love anything. I also got repeats and shirts that were too billowy even though I told them it wasn’t for me. I started tying knots in all my shirts. Fabletics is hit or miss with me but I’ve had good luck lately. Alo is $$$ but I just watch for sales. Amazon has some highly rated products rated by thousands of people (90 degree by reflex is one) . I got out ALL my workout stuff, spread it out and started “styling” my own outfits and realized I can do a MUCH better job than yoga club. I KNOW you can too. Yoga club was basically “styling” everything with a black shirt. That takes zero effort. If there was something I thought I needed in a certain color to make a few outfits work, I just got on Amazon. Go crazy with the color, keep getting your stuff out and making your outfits. I fold the outfits up together because Marie Kondo got in my head and I’m bored. It is nice to have it all put together for a few weeks.

Not a Fan of YC

I recently received my first box from this company. Two of the items were ok, but the third was exactly what I stated that I did not like in my style quiz.

I sent a message through the website customer service page, but have not received any response as of 5 days later. I have received several canned emails from the company trying to get me to buy an annual membership.
Feedback customers provide is basically led by their quizzes – such as setting a $200 value for the box. Believe me, these items are only worth $200 in the full retail dreams of the company.

My only choices are to:
1. Exchange in their Facebook marketplace,
2 Take the bad top to the post office and send back (then wait until they ship me another box with my exchange item, of which the choices are very limited),
3. Pay advance return shipping and then pay for another box in which they enclose my prepaid return label and exchange item (see 2.),
4. Pay $15 to have them send me an exchange item and prepaid label now.

The top they sent me is only worth about $15. People are better off discount shopping and selecting clothes they want and can return easily. I canceled my membership and bought several very nice pieces from another yoga apparel company (Niyana Sol).

So torn with this subscription! Each box has had one awesome item (three so far) with two unflattering pieces. One pant arrived damaged but I have to say costumer service went above and beyond to fix the problem. Due to the costumer service being so good I think I’ll try one more month, but otherwise it’s a little bit too on the miss side.

Great review, but really hope to never get those leggings! The scalloped hem makes me cringe a bit.

I subbed to yoga club and have received two boxes. I just canceled today after receiving my second box. My first box was ok, sorta meh. I liked the leggings but the top was clearly not the same top pictured in my preview and the (unadjustable) straps on the sports bra were way too short. My 2nd box I similarly liked the leggings, but the top was godawful and the sports bra was way too big. Not such a great value when I’m basically paying $70 for a single pair of leggings…. What clinched my decision to cancel was previewing my third box, which would have contained the exact same leggings I received in my first box! 🤔

I remember buying a couple Vie Active leggings on clearance and they don’t stay up whatsoever. I can’t even get mail in them without adjusting.

I have an irrational hatred of that scalloped hem.

No, it is a rational hatred. It looks like scarecrow high waters.

I’ve gotten this for 6 months and they can’t get it right. Over half of what I was sent is Vie Active and Whisper…both are not very good quality. Only one article of a known brand, Onzie, and they are the worst because they are still and don’t have a nice stretch. I need that because I actually workout in my fitness clothes.

I have the guru box but this month there was only a black shirt in the box. This was hilarious because I asked not to be sent anymore black shirts (or other items) because I have accumulated plenty of that along the way. I don’t need a stylist to pair random items with something black.

Great review, you look fabulous. I’m so stuck on “a yoga class for a child in need”. Huh. I’ve never heard a child verbalize that need but I’m totally intrigued 😂
