Bulu Box Weight Loss October 2019 Review
There isn’t a theme for Bulu Box Weight Loss and there is some personalization involved, so the contents are usually a surprise:
Because of the variations with this subscription, there’s not a traditional information card listing the items.
There are also usually some coupons and/or product literature with this subscription. They don’t always relate to the items in the box, although sometimes they do.
BareOrganics Natural Tea Blend (1 KCup) - Buy 12 for $12.99
This has some oolong tea which is supposed to help suppress your appetite, and I do find oolong tea to do that, although it helps to steep it for a long time, which isn't really possible with a KCup. It also has some other things like bitter orange and yerba mate that are supposed to do the same. I do not have access to a machine that will brew this and am not planning on getting one because I am really trying to cut down on single-use plastics. (The cups are recyclable but most people don't do that, I think, because you'd have to wash them out first.) This also has garcinia extract, rose hips, and moringa, and I don't think it's formulated to taste great, it's one of those things you drink because you make yourself do so.
Click All-in-One Coffee and Protein Drink Mix (1.12 oz) - Retail Value $2.99
I'm not a coffee drinker but I found this to be not too bad mixed into a smoothie. I think because there are a lot of dairy-based proteins in this, plus chocolate, so the coffee flavor is minor by comparison. This is meant to be a meal replacement but I don't really use those (I need at least 400 calories in the morning to take my blood pressure medicine or I get dizzy, and yes, I've tested this out). But it would be an option if you want morning coffee and you're in a hurry to get out the door. This is pretty high in protein but lacks fat and fiber so if you can add some fruit and yogurt it might be more filling.
Vital4U Vitamin Daily Essential Multi Vitamin (1 serving) - Buy a 30-day supply for $39.50
I have reviewed some of those personalized vitamin subscriptions in the past, where they recommend individual supplements for you based on a profile. And some of them had nearly this many pills. And let me tell you, it was a chore to choke all of those down in an evening. The ingredients listing between the Bulu Box site and Amazon is somewhat different as the herbal pill apparently used to contain St. John's Wort, which may interact with a lot of medications, but it looks like in the current version being sold, that one is not there. The softgels have gelatin and are not vegetarian because of that, and there is also soy lecithin in many of these pills, so this is best to avoid if you have a soy allergy. It would be easy to just not take one pill if you don't want what's in it, but then you have to question why you are paying for all these things you are not taking. There is a certain type of person who does want all these supplements, including antioxidants, and some memory and weight-loss ingredients, and it would definitely be convenient not to have to order each thing individually.

Chocomega (4 chews)
Everywhere I found this online (except eBay, which is not where I would go for supplements), it was out of stock or discontinued. So, best not to get too excited about it. I note that one serving has 150 mg of DHA + EPA, which are the active forms and the ones you should be getting. These are from fish oil (algae-based supplements also have DHA and EPA, but flax/walnut/etc. do not). I further note that it was recommended by a veterinary nutritionist for my 16 pound cat, Angus, to have 750 mg of DHA + EPA per day, so you'd need to eat quite a lot of this to have an equivalent amount based on body weight.

Qunol Turmeric Instant Drink Mix (1 serving) - Buy 60 servings for $23.99
This was a pleasant surprise. I have had some truly terrible turmeric drinks from subscription boxes lately. But I went ahead and tried this and it had some added orange flavoring that made it pretty good. You would want to use a shaker cup or an immersion blender to mix it, though, as stirring is not enough. I think this also might be nice in a smoothie. Turmeric and ginger are good for fighting inflammation and it's nice to find a palatable delivery mechanism.

Verdict: This month’s box had 5 samples, so they’d average about $2 each. There were at least a few items related to weight loss (meal replacement and tea), which doesn't always happen, even with the weight loss version of the box. The turmeric drink was a pleasant surprise. For what it's worth, the regular version of Bulu Box had a much greater value this month for me, but it is kind of hit or miss whether that will happen. On average, you'll get a full-size supplement every now and then, so over time, the value probably averages out.
