California Found October 2019 Review
Instead of a booklet or pamphlet, California Found sends individual info cards featuring each item and giving some deets about the people and brands behind the products. They donate 10% of their profit every month to a charitable cause, and this month they are donating to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
Revive Charitable Jewelry Breast Cancer Studs in Sterling Silver - Retail Value $35.00
This box always delivers really well-made and thoughtful jewelry and this month is no exception. These pink studs are made of sterling silver and the stud itself is actually a close-up of a breast cancer cell slide. This seems especially timely since this month's box is donating a portion of proceeds to breast cancer research and October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Revive Charitable Jewelry has a ton of other causes you can support with your jewelry purchases, making this a perfect way to support valuable research and look great at the same time.
California Brittle Co Cashew Brittle, 1.5 oz - Retail Value $4.o0
I love the sweet treats that arrive in this box. Brittle is a special vice of mine that I blame my grandfather for. He LOVES brittle! I usually gift him a large tin each year for Christmas because he is impossible to shop for, and my tin this year might come from the California Brittle Co! This stuff was so tasty! What made it different than so many other brittles out there was that it was a softer brittle that still had a delightful crunch!
California Brittle Co Almond Brittle, 1.5 oz - Retail Value $4.o0
This second variety was cinnamon and almond, and I think it was my fave because I love cinnamon anything. I am slightly ashamed to say that I ate all of this by myself, but I also have NO REGRETS.
Bon Vivant Designs Amethyst Sleep Rollerball, 10 ml - Retail Value $39.00
There is a special place in my heart for rollerballs of all scents, and to add even more magic, this one is filled with amethyst chips AND the rollerball itself is an orb of amethyst! STAAAHP. The oil inside is a blend of lavender and vanilla, but it smells like fresh, warm laundry to my nose. It is truly one of those homey comfort scents. This is nice for your bedside table for a little scent of sleep boost as you drift off.
Barton Burns 'Pumpkin Pancakes' Candle, 8 oz - Retail Value $18.00
I really don't like sticky sweet food scents and I also dislike pumpkin, so I just assumed this was going to be a gift for someone this year. I did like it much more than I expected when I first sniffed, but that might be because there is very little pumpkin in here. My nose mostly noticed a creamy cinnamon, which I definitely prefer to pancakes or pumpkins. I still think I might pass this one on, but I am tempted to hang on to it and just burn it close to some of my more earthy candles for a complex but still sweet scent. The wax is 100% sox and the wicks are cotton. These candles also support traveling physical therapists on medical missions across the globe!
Honey Belle Moisturizing Face Creme Duo, 1 oz each - Retail Value $30.00
Finally, our last item is a set of two creams for both day and night. The brand was created by a husband and wife duo after she began to suffer from psoriasis (I feel you!). Her experimentation into natural skincare led to the Honey Belle brand. I really like these creams. They have a very interesting consistency to me because they look like normal lotions but spread and absorb kind of like a gel, probably due to the aloe inside. There is no added fragrance here, but both have a clean natural scent that I really appreciate.
The Verdict: California Found continues to be really fun. I absolutely love reading about the creators of all of the items on the handy included cards. There is something really appealing about knowing your box subscription benefits real small businesses with awesome people behind them. This box also had a great value this month, around $130! The assortment was beautifully done (no shock there) and there was a little bit of a pamper yourself sort of theme happening. I really enjoyed relaxing one night while snacking on brittle, applying the night cream, and later drifting off to sleep with my rollerball on my wrists. The little studs were also so stylish and thoughtful, and the candle will make an excellent gift.
