Darn Good Beads of the Month November 2019 Review
I’ve been receiving Darn Good Beads of the Month for a few months. I expect to get a simple project with instructions that will be easy to complete in under an hour or two, but the projects have been pretty varied:
The project came in a small box and included a detailed information booklet with project instructions.
Here are the materials. The wire was actually already cut but you will need to snip off the ends so you still need wire cutters. You'll also need two pairs of pliers. I tend to prefer my roundnose and bent chain-nose pliers for most tasks.
First you make a wrapped loop. I stink at making wrapped loops. My wire skills, in general, need some work.
Then you just string beads on the wire. I followed the pattern in the booklet. Looking at the pictures made it easier than reading the words. You don't have to stick to their pattern but you should not run out of beads if you do. (I had maybe one extra metal spacer and two extra labradorite rondelles. FYI, I'm not sure if the rondelle material was listed anywhere but they sure look like labradorite to me.)
Then you do a second one the same way and end both with another wrapped loop.
You put each wrapped loop and the earring hook on a jump ring and close the jump ring. I probably would've used a smaller jump ring if selecting materials myself but this will do.
Here are the finished earrings.
Verdict: I did not calculate a value for Darn Good Beads of the Month because the materials were unbranded/not labeled and items like this generally can't be purchased in such small quantities. This project was a relief after two recent months of questionable bead crochet projects. And this is honestly much more in line with what I've come to expect from this subscription. You will need minimal tools -- really just a basic set of pliers that includes a wire cutter will get you through, you didn't even need any glue for this project. This was nice and quick and not frustrating!
