Cute! I’ve seen that exact set in TJ Maxx. I’m not sure if the price.

The $9 in shipping turned me away

Me too! It’s a great gift at a reasonable price….except for the shipping. I wonder if it’s in any stores.

I think I’m going to purchase this for my grandmother. Is this expensive for 24 tea bags?

It’s 48 tea bags (2 each day it looks like) A typical 20 tea bag box from Twinings goes between $3.19 and $3.69, so one can estimate that 48 tea bags would be around $9 for that brand.
So what you are paying for is the variety (not having to buy individual boxes of each flavor) and the Advent calendar box/set-up. But $29 (when you include shipping) still seems pretty high for that.

I don’t think you necessarily need to if you think your granny will like it and you are happy to pay the price. In the UK (where we drink masses of tea) Twinings is a premium everyday brand and could be considered a little luxury. It would be an odd brand to gift alone but not an odd brand to find in a hamper or sold with a mug etc at Christmas. It would be a brand I was unwilling to spend a lot extra on but it is a nice brand.
I guess from a US perspective £5 for 80 tea bags is cheap, from a UK perspective that is relatively expensive.

I would like to get this as a gift.

It is. You can get a box of assorted tea with 20 bags for around $4 so you’re paying at least double for the packaging.if you’re grandma likes tea there’s some great and pretty packaged options at tj maxx you can get for half this price and a better brand.

It’s completely overpriced.
If you want to gift your grandmother because she likes tea buy some tea – there are so many great choices even at most local supermarkets. Package it with a jar of nice preserves and “gourmet” English muffins or other bread product and put it all in a basket that you can pick up inexpensively at the dollar store.
Or get her one of those cute teacups that are also “warmers” or a tea infuser for one with some interesting loose teas if she is a bit of a foodie.
I get Twinings tea at the supermarket (and Trader Joes as I recall) and 48 tea bags are probably $5.00 or thereabouts.

I agree. My Nana is English, and she wouldn’t drink most of these (herbals and green). Last year I just picked up some Twinings English Breakfast and added it to a gift basket for her. If your Nan likes all teas, then there is a pretty awesome assortment of teas on amazon (I think also Twinings) that I purchased last year for my company’s holiday party, as part of a raffle basket.

There’s actually 48 tea bags; 2 bags per day. It’s not a bad price. I would consider buying it, but I already purchased the advent calendar from David’s tea, which I’m loving right now.

So is the David’s tea advent come in tea bags or loose tea in a sealed bag? I don’t think my grandmother has the means to brew loose tea.

Thanks!

It’s actually 48 bags of tea – two per day.

From a British perspective, I think that is very expensive for 48 Twinings tea bags but maybe you pay more for the brand in the US? I can pick up a pack of 80 for £5 fairly easily. I think you are going for the novelty of the advent calendar rather than value for money in tea though.
