Let's see what I received!
StoryBook Cosmetics 'Robin Hood' Fairy Tale Palette - Retail Value $35.00 (currently on sale for $15.00)
I liked this smaller palette so much more than the larger Briar Rose palette I received in my December BoxyLuxe review. Yes, it still feels really bulky and thick, and I would probably never haul it around, but the smaller size of this version is much more manageable. I also thought the quality and pigmentation of these 6 shadows were leaps and bounds better than the other palette, though there is still room for improvement. Theme wise, they totally nailed it. This mix of gold, yellow, brown, and green is exactly what I would have expected from a Robin Hood themed collection. The standout shade is that first gold color. In terms of texture and payout, it is pretty wild. Quiver, Nottingham, Forest, and Merry Men look a little sheer until you start to blend them, and I found they applied much better with fingertips than a brush, though blending them with the brush of your choice once they are on your skin works nicely. The Robin Hood shade is a beautiful forest shimmer that builds nicely. While the palette overall doesn't really impress me compared to some others, book lovers might really enjoy this and the idea is very unique.
Top to bottom: Maid Marian, Quiver, Nottingham, Forest, Merry Men, and Robin Hood
Elemis Pro-Collagen Rose Facial Oil, 15 ml - Retail Value $72.00
I love facial oils and I love rose anything, so I knew this would be a winner for me. I wasn't wrong! This oil feels SO SO luxe! It is on the heavier side, which suits my dry skin just fine, but if it seels like a lot to you, you can certainly mix it with one of your lighter moisturizers, though I would experiment first to avoid pilling. I was actually surprised to see this referred to as lightweight on the Nordstrom's site since I thought it was certainly on the heavier side. It does absorb really easily and leave a velvet finish, but I personally would reserve this one for nighttime use. As a bonus, it also works wonderfully as a rose perfumed hair oil. Just rub a few drops between your hands then finger comb into your ends. Delightful!
Ciaté Glow-To Illuminating Blush, 3.5 g - Retail Value $26.00
This gorgeous blush is a ballet-pink with a soft shimmer. It is kind of like a blush-highlighter hybrid but very subdued. The natural soft pink is appropriate for year-round application, though I think this will be a spring favorite for me when the flowers begin to bloom again. The compact is also totally gorgeous and features a nicely sized mirror inside.
WAY into it.
Aesthetica Brush Cleanser and Conditioner, 2.5 fl oz - Retail Value $17.00
This was a surprise to find inside this month's box, but with my ever-growing brush collection, I really needed a cleanser! This heavy gel was super effective and had a medicinal scent from the antibacterial tea tree oil inside. This wasn't the most exciting item, but I always appreciate a needed and practical item!
Brow Bar by Rema Brow Makeover Kit in 'Light' - Retail Value $30.00
Finally, our last item is a metallic gold brow kit. It contains two brow powders, a concealer, a mini clear setting gel, and a dual-ended brush. I received the light version which makes sense, though I usually do fill my browns in with a darker shade. Maybe too dark? I found the lighter shade to be too light for me personally, but the darker one was very pretty. It was easy to use the angled brush end to add in pigment, then the clear brow gel to comb through and set. The concealer was nice for under my brow bone and as an eyeshadow base over my entire lid.
Here are swatches of the two brow shades as well as the concealer.
Verdict: My BoxyCharm box has an overall value of $180.00, which is wonderful for a $25 box. I loved the facial oil, blush, brow kit, and brush cleanser, and the eyeshadow palette was ALMOST there. I do appreciate the creativity behind it and thought it was a super unique addition. Boxy always has loads of value and has yet to disappoint me, so if you are a makeup addict with a love of skincare and full-size items, give this one a shot. It is a no brainer for $25.
