Disney Bedtime Adventure Box "Holiday Mickey" Review
Before we get to the review, I wanted to share some information about the different frequency options since they are a bit different. They offer a box-to-box option as well as several prepaid options: quarterly, annual, or custom-scheduled boxes (minimum of two boxes). With the box-to-box plan, you receive a box every other month since it is shipped in 2-month cycles. For the pre-paid subscriptions they are as follows:
“For one-year subscriptions, boxes are delivered monthly. For quarterly subscriptions, one box is delivered every 3 months. For customized schedules, the purchaser selects the months to receive a box.”
Just keep these in mind when choosing your subscriptions! If you know you’d like at least two boxes, it seems like the custom option is the best value and offers the most flexibility. Now let’s get into the review!
When you first start the sign-up process, you are first asked to provide your child's name. Once you enter that information, you choose your child's size. Sizes 3-10 are available, and if you are unsure of what size to order, you can check out the size chart.
For reference, Charlie is 4 1/2 years old, 43 1/2" tall, 40 pounds, and I ordered him a size 5.
The next step is to choose your character for the month. This month the boys' fit pajamas included Mickey Mouse, Forky, and Holiday Mickey Mouse. The options did not change from October to November, so we went ahead and chose Holiday Mickey Mouse since Christmas is right around the corner!
How cute is this box?! The top flap is a reward chart for going to bed well, and the inside of the box includes a Christmas Eve mission! The instructions are to read the enclosed book, mix up the activity cards, select one at random from each category, and play out the instructions on each card - more on that later!
Bedtime Activity Cards
Next, we have the activity cards that were talked about in the above mission instructions. These colorful cards are made out of bright cardstock and feature 5 different categories of nighttime routine items. It instructs us to cut them apart and choose 1 card in each category to perform every night as part of our bedtime routine. Tonight my kids chose:
- It's chilly in the North Pole! Let's jump into the bathtub to warm up.
- Spin around like a compass and point to the pajamas you plan to wear tonight.
- Use your toothbrush to create a white snowstorm in your mouth.
- Mickey Mouse has lost his way in the snowstorm. Pick an adventure story that will lead him to a new place to land his plane.
- Climb into Santa's sleigh and take the reins. Where will your first delivery be tonight?
These nightly activities are all in our normal routine but making a game out of it really turned it into something fun. I tell you what, it made bedtime a lot more fun for me and the boys!
Holiday Mickey Mouse Sticker Sheet
The next item we received is this 8 1/2" X 11" sheet of Holiday Mickey Mouse stickers. They vary in size, but most are pretty large, and peel off perfectly! My boys LOVE stickers, and they couldn't wait to create some artwork using them. They are both very excited to leave out their creations for Santa in 28 days!
Mickey Mouse Flies the Christmas Mail - Retail Value $25.00
I absolutely adore Golden Books, and this Christmas story originally printed in 1956 is no exception! I love the story of Mickey and the Christmas Mail, and I especially enjoyed the vintage artwork and sweet story. We read Christmas stories all year 'round at our house, so this one will definitely get a lot of use! I noticed this book was last printed in 2007 and I had an extremely hard time finding it online to purchase. While I did find it electronically for around $3.99, the hardcover copy is selling for $25.00 on Amazon! I am really happy to receive a book that seems to be a little hard to get your hands on, and feel like that adds to the value of the box!
Holiday Mickey Mouse Pajamas (Size 5) - Retail Value $16.95
Aren't these pajamas bright and full of Christmas cheer? I love the print on the front, (especially because Pluto made the cut) and of course, the saying "Silent Nights are Overrated!" They not only are adorable but also hilarious (and true)! The pants are also super cute and match the top perfectly with cuffs on the bottom. I ordered a size 5 in my profile, and I know because they are 100% cotton and not flame resistant, that they are supposed to fit snuggly, but I just worry the pants will become capris after I wash them! Last month's pajamas were a little large but were an entirely different style. I'm wondering if I should go up a size next month?
There is honestly nothing better than snuggling up with a good book and a little boy who is fresh out of the bath with clean pajamas!
Hank is getting so good at reading that he can read our new books to us!
The Verdict: This Disney Bedtime Adventure Box was really cute! We get so excited to see the big Disney box in the mail! This is my second month of receiving the box, and I really enjoyed the activity cards, stickers, book, and pajamas. The activity cards really spiced up our nighttime routine and made bedtime a little more exciting. The pajamas were almost a little snug, so I'm wondering if I need to go up a size, but feel if they send a different style they will be way too big. I loved the book because not only was it a classic, but it was also perfectly on par for the holiday! I also wanted to mention, last month I received a coupon for $10 off a $50 purchase through the Disney Shop a few weeks after my box was delivered. This is also to add to the value of the box.
If I were to go online and purchase the items individually for this box, I would have spent over $41.95 between the book and pajamas alone! While the book is extremely expensive (because it hasn't been released since 2007) it is really nice to receive an item that is hard to get. I also really enjoyed the activity cards and stickers. A plush animal would really make this the jackpot, but I was pretty pleased with this month's value. My older son Hank has scoped out the Star Wars pajamas for next month, so we can't wait to see what they might look like!
