Habitation Box is a home subscription box filled with beautiful, neutral items curated by Kelly, a professional designer. I am incredibly impressed with how Kelly hand-selects every item in the box, going as far as having small businesses create custom items to help her visions come alive. (Seriously, she went to a nursery and selected every live plant herself for the August 2019 box!) The results are a box of high quality, practical, and versatile home decor items that create a calm and welcoming space with each delivery.
Boxes are available on a monthly or quarterly basis. There are 2 subscription levels available:
- Habitation I: 3-6 high-quality home decor items for $54.99 + shipping

This review is for the Habitation I box for $54.99/month + shipping.

Habitation Box "Christmas Decor" December 2019 Review
December's Habitation Box has a neutral-colored "Christmas Decor" theme including 7 beautiful items perfect for adding a little cheer to your holiday decorating. The pamphlet features all of the included items in this month's box, along with retail values, decorating tips, and spoilers for next month's box.
Frosted Garland - Listed Value $14.00
This item was the first item in the box and it definitely screams "winter" doesn't it? I love garland, and actually have some up year-round, but this stuff is really quite heavy duty! It is 6 feet long and made of covered wire that can be bent into pretty much any shape/form you want. I love how full the evergreen on the garland is and how it contrasts with the frosted tips. While alone it may not be the most exciting item - I absolutely love how well it coordinates with the rest of the items in the box!
Mud Pie Birch Test Tube Vase - Listed Value $25.00 (found here for $22.99)
Habitation Box states that they only select well-made and on-trend items for this box, and I have to say with this item that definitely holds true! I have been seeing birch log decor EVERYWHERE lately, but not quite like this! When I pulled this item from the box, I thought it was to be laid on its side, and I was perfectly okay with that, but then I realized it's actually a test tube-style vase! How gorgeous is that?! And the quality is great. This piece isn't just slapped together- they used wire to affix the logs so they are snug and tight and they included test tubes in the logs so you could add live flowers if you desire. I absolutely love a rustic-chic look, and I will definitely be keeping this piece out year-round (updating the arrangements of course.) Not only does it look beautiful by itself, but the included floral arrangement really makes it pop.
Holiday Floral Arrangement - Listed Value $6.00
This sweet little holiday floral arrangement features a mix of snowy twigs, leaves, and berries with a loose bow that coordinates with the birch vase set. The pro tip given in the pamphlet suggests you place this in the test tube, which is what I did. I love how real this arrangement looks- the large snow crystals really shimmer in the light, and take it up a few notches from the typical "styrofoam snow" we see so much during this time of year!
Galvanized Reindeer Candle Holders - Listed Value $16.00 (found here for $16.88)
How cute are these galvanized reindeer tea light holders?! I love how simplistic, yet fun they are! And the red nose is the absolute perfect detail. Plus, they included the tealights! Like the included vase, these reindeer are also made by mudpie. If you haven't checked out their website yet, I suggest you do- I want everything they sell! (I actually bought a shirt for my son from this website, and it's his favorite shirt EVER.) Back to the reindeer, they are darling, and look perfect next to the mini Christmas tree!
Mini Christmas Tree in Burlap Sack- Listed Value $8.00 (found here for $5.00)
Christmas just wouldn't be complete without a Christmas tree, and this burlap-wrapped one is lovely. Like the garland, the evergreen branches are made of thick wire and can be bent and manipulated for any look you want. I also appreciate the heaviness of the base to ensure my tree is standing tall at all times. And to my surprise, this product is also made by mudpie! Because the pamphlet suggests placing items in threes, I paired the tree with the reindeer for a professional look. (See below for photos.)
Bonus Item: HoHoHo Glitter Sign
What a thoughtful addition! We are promised 3-6 items, and here is a 7th item that was included as a bonus item. This small "HoHoHo" sign is laden in gold glitter and has a white, bendy, wire hanger. While there are no styling suggestions for this item, I attached it to a wreath I had hanging above my shelf, and am very happy with the results!
After reviewing the pamphlet and taking a tour of my home, I decided to create a simplistic winter wonderland on the shelf above our loveseat, and am absolutely loving the results! (My husband even commented on how nice it looks, and he usually notices NOTHING!)
Verdict: I am in LOVE with this month's Habitation Box! I love home decor items but tend to feel overwhelmed when entering stores like Hobby Lobby. This box has sent me items that are practical, beautiful, and go together without being too matchy-matchy. I also appreciate the seasonal aspect, with some items being neutral enough to keep up year-round. Kelly did a fantastic job curating this box and you can really tell this is her passion. The seven items included this month have a retail value of $69.00 which is about $1.01 more than the $67.99 ($54.99 + $13 shipping) cost. I did find a few items a couple of dollars cheaper, but honestly, everything was right on par as far as value goes. Also, because of the fact that Kelly does a beautiful job with the curation and design of this box, I feel like it is worth it. I can honestly say I liked everything in this box and won't be gifting a single item!
