Our Ipsy Glam Bag Plus December 2019 Review
Here is our info card complete with all of our items.
Our bag this month is a crinkle textured faux leather in metallic silver. It has a navy zipper, pull, and cloth interior.
Now, on to the items!
ittsē Cosmetics The Van Ness Magnetic Eyeshadow Palette - Retail Value $60.00
Ok I need to take a moment to admire these shades. I get LOADS of eyeshadow palettes and I think this might be the only one that has been this beautifully demure, cool, and perfect for my overall makeup looks. Not a warm bronze in sight, nor a crazy metallic purple, or electric blue. Just 4 shades I will wear ALL. THE. TIME. I am less enthusiastic about the packaging, but we will get to that.
These 4 shades could have been hand-picked by me. 'Bare Canvas' is a matte ivory dream, and is perfect right under your brows. 'Velveteen' is a matte dove grey fantasy with such lovely pigmentation and smoothness. 'Sure Shot' is an ashy pink with a hint of lavender, and though it is a shimmer, it is very understated. 'After Hours' is the warmest of the bunch, but barely. It has a delicate golden shimmer that is hardly even noticeable but gives it depth. All apply well both with a finger or brush.
The faux leather compact features a removable foam, so if you want to add more shadows or blushes to the magnetized base, you can build a custom palette. I am not sold on the faux pearl leather exterior, but I am willing to overlook it for the shades inside.
Top to bottom: Bare Canvas, Velveteen, Sure Shot, and After Hours
Evolue Skincare Super Oil, 1 fl oz - Retail Value $68.00
I am a little confused by this oil, since it doesn't feel like an oil at all! More like a milky gel? Either way, it does have a wonderfully short ingredient list (squalane oil, vitamins A, C, D, and K) and it is made in the US. I actually really like this stuff. It absorbs easily, smells nice, and is super hydrating. I also appreciate the pretty and minimal product design and the removable cap to keep it from leaking out in my suitcase or purse. This would be a great formula to try out if you want to add oil to your routine but shy away from oils that feel heavy or "oil-like."
tarte Stay Spray, 4 fl oz – Retail Value $25.00
The first thing I check on any sort of mist or spray is the nozzle itself. I expect a micro mist, not to get shot in the eye by a torrent of spray or feel like my face is drenched after a spritz. This has one of the best mist nozzles I have ever tried. Adding to this is that the formula works really well at locking makeup down without you even feeling it on your skin. It smells like cucumber because it has both cucumber and aloe, meaning your skin is also getting a little extra hydration!
Complex Culture Press & Set Bronzer Brush – Retail Value $35.00
SWOON, what a pretty brush! I received a smaller highlighter brush from this same line in my regular Ipsy Glam Bag this month and I just love how these look. They also perform really well, grabbing up lots of product on fluffy, dense, and synthetic bristles. The head of this brush is also so soft, and it is a pure delight to sweep on powder with this gem.
Noyah Organic Peppermint Lip Balm – Retail Value $3.99
Will is outside a lot for his job, and he is constantly rotating through ungodly amounts of chapstick. He prefers peppermint and I know he will love this stuff! I love that it is limited to 5 organic ingredients, made in the US, and the company donates product to the homeless. The tube itself is also 70% post-consumer recycled plastic! It feels awesome on my lips and is over-the-top hydrating. I know Will is going to be thrilled to have more for his stash.
Noyah Organic Vanilla Lip Balm – Retail Value $3.99
Looks like Will also gets a vanilla tube, if I can bear to part with it. This is the same wonderful formula as the peppermint, but with a soft vanilla scent.
Verdict: This box has a value of $195.98 which is awesome for a $25 box. I actually loved everything in this month's bag. The eyeshadows were by far my favorite item this month. The formulas were great and the colors are dreamy. The brush was another high note, as well as that US-made super oil that I like the more and more I use it. The tarte setting spray was pleasant and effective, and the lip balms will go to good use in the pockets of my husband's coats (until I end up "borrowing" one and never giving it back).
