LUXSB is a fragrance subscription box for men and women (formerly known as Luxury Scent Box). Each month you will receive 9 mL (about 0.3 fl oz) of a designer fragrance. You can accept the fragrance of the month, you can choose scents based on a short profile survey, or you can just build a calendar of scents on your own.
There are two subscription options:
- The Standard Plan for $15 a month and includes one 9 mL travel spray
- The Premium Plan for $18 a month and includes one 9 mL travel spray and access to premium items
LUXSB also gives active members the option to upgrade your subscription to the Duo plan, which includes one case and two premium or non-premium perfumes per month.
This is a review of the Duo plan for $30/month + free shipping.
This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

LUXSB December 2019 Review
There was a card included that described one of this month’s two fragrances. There were also some instructions for using the holders.
On to the fragrances:
Loukhoum by Keiko Mecheri - Estimated Value $14.85 (Buy 100 mL for $165)
I have not tried any Keiko Mecheri fragrances before so I wasn't sure what to expect. At the outset, this one sounds like it would be great for me. Notes include:
Top: hawthorn. Middle: rose, almond, floral notes. Base: musk, vanilla, woodsy notes, and honey.
Mostly I was excited about the base and also the almond in the middle notes. And, for what it's worth, I could definitely smell the almond (which lasted for awhile) as well as the musk, vanilla, and honey, and possibly the wood, depending on what the wood was (like, if it was more sandalwood and less pine, for example, which is what it seemed like to me).
However, this was extremely powdery on me after a short time. To the point where my husband walked into the room and informed me I smelled like baby powder, from 20 feet away. (On the plus side, this has great sillage and also pretty good longevity.)
In the end, I *think* I like this one, and I will definitely wear it sometimes, but it was a little unusual and I will apply it quite lightly, I think. I would be interested in trying more Keiko Mecheri fragrances, as well, since this one was a little different from what I'm used to.
Signature by Aedes de Venustas - Estimated Value $22.05 (Buy 100 mL for $245)
I did a double take when I saw this brand name because "Aedes" makes me think of mosquitoes. However, "Aedes de Venustas" apparently means "house of beauty" in Latin, according to Google Translate. Anyway, notes in this one include: vetiver, incense, honeysuckle, hazelnut, green apple, rhubarb, tomato leaf, cannabis, and pink pepper (they're not really separate out into top, middle, and base as far as I can tell).
This isn't really floral or fruity and I'm not noticing the honeysuckle, rhubarb, or green apple very much. It isn't super green on me although I think *maybe* there is something leafy that could be the combination of tomato leaf (which is unusual for a fragrance) and cannabis, I guess? Incense and, to a lesser extent, pink pepper are what I notice. This one is maybe a touch masculine, which I tend to like in fragrances. I don't think I like this enough to spend $245 on a full-sized bottle, but I will enjoy this sample.
My husband could also smell this from across the room so again, good sillage, and it also seems to be lasting a long time.
Like with some of the other fragrance subscriptions, you’ll receive purse-sized holders for your fragrances. These are slightly larger than the ones from Scentbird or Scent Box. How often you get a new holder depends on your subscription plan.
Verdict: The estimated value of my fragrances this month is $36.90 which is somewhat over the month-to-month cost of the subscription. I have never tried anything from either of these brands, and they are rather expensive brands with exotic and/or unusual scents, which is something I definitely appreciate. I don't feel that I would find these scents through "scent of the month" with another perfume subscription. I also note that both were "eau de parfum" which is probably why sillage and longevity were above average; most fragrance subscriptions seem to send "eau de toilette" which is not as concentrated.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes, all you have to do is choose these fragrances.
Value Breakdown: This subscription is $30/monthly and this month, I received $36.90 worth of fragrance (but again, this is highly variable based on what scent you choose).
