Pura Vida Jewelry Club "The Silver Shimmer Set" December 2019 Review
One thing I enjoy about Pura Vida is that they always send some nice stickers with their jewelry. The designs are really fun and they always come packaged inside this foldout card that shares their story and details how they give back. They create over 200 full-time jobs for artisans worldwide!
Your jewelry will arrive in this nice sturdy box with a magnetic closure that would be perfect for gifting. Inside is some fun tropical tissue paper that makes for such a nice presentation! The card on top of our tissue paper welcomes us to the club and reminds us how our exclusive jewelry is only available to club members. This month we also received this pretty bonus sticker!
Just a note: This card states that the value will be up to $50, while their website lists it as being up to $65. This is a little confusing, and also could be misleading since the higher value is listed on their website, but after a quick (and easy) chat with customer service they confirmed that the $65 value is correct.
Your jewelry comes in little dustbags each month which are perfect for storing your jewelry in. These are a bit different than the ones that come in their bracelet club pack. These are a little smoother and sleeker in my opinion.
Layered Chain Choker
Our first item this month is this silver choker. I think that this double-layered choker with the tiny silver medallions is pretty on-trend and while this is definitely not a style I gravitate towards, I ended up liking this one a bit more than I expected. While it is a choker, it has four different settings and I find it most comfortable on the largest setting. The necklace measures just under 17 inches at the longest setting and the smallest setting goes down to about 13.75 inches. I was not able to put it on my neck at the smallest setting and the second smallest setting was also pretty tight. I would worry that this piece is not going to be very universal as far as fit goes. I don't think I've ever had an issue with a necklace not fitting, but then again 13.75 inches is pretty small!
Here it is on the longest setting. I wore it out for a girl's night and I did really love the little bit of shimmer that it added!
I also tried it on as a bracelet and I didn't think it looked too bad! It was only a little loose, but it wasn't super obvious that it was a choker.
Coin Band Ring
I was a little surprised that this month's set was silver again and even more surprised to see another ring after last month, but this one seems a bit more substantial and is pretty thick and nicely made. I love the coin shapes and how it looks on!
Simple and comfortable!
Here they are together. While I think they work together, I actually feel like the ring is more of a casual everyday piece while the choker feels a bit dressier, although you could definitely dress it down as well.
The Verdict: I am pretty happy with this month's Pura Vida Jewelry Club set and I think it is a good one for winter. I was kind of hoping for some gold this month, but the ring is very easy to wear with anything and the necklace looks nice against all of the deep green and berry colors I like to wear this time of year. I'm don't think they really complement each other as well as some of the pieces in previous jewelry sets have, but that's not necessarily a bad thing! I think the quality is a bit better than last month and it was definitely more exciting to receive a necklace and a ring as opposed to four rings. I think that this was a pretty solid set for $19.95 and I'll definitely be wearing the necklace to add some shimmer during all of the holiday festivities!
