Scent Box November 2019 Review
This month, I received Scent Box’s “Scent of the Month.”
The information card usually has a little information about the men’s scent of the month on one side and the women’s on the other side. This month looked promising for me.
In case I have not mentioned it in the past, you get a new holder every month and the fragrance is printed on a sticker on the bottom, and the holders tend to be different colors each month, so you can still keep them sorted out.
On to the fragrance:
Fever by Jimmy Choo - Estimated Value $13.54 (Buy 1.3 fl oz for $65)
I can sometimes tell by the packaging of a fragrance whether it'll work for me and I liked the picture of the bottle as well as the notes featured on the information card. As it turns out, I think this one is great and I'd even consider buying it in full size. It was introduced a little over a year ago and is still in production.
Base notes include vanilla, tonka bean, sandalwood, coffee, hazelnut, and benzoin. Vanilla with sandalwood is one of my favorite combinations (the coffee and hazelnut are not super noticeable on me) and I find I like a lot of fragrances with those two base notes.
Mid notes are all floral: heliotrope, vanilla orchid, jasmine, and orange blossom. These kind of fade into the base notes and add some complexity without any of them really standing out above all the others. This is fine by me because I'm not really into florals all that much.
Top notes are grapefruit, litchi, and plum. I am not getting the grapefruit at all; other grapefruit fragrances work on me. Litchi and plum add some sweetness that work well together with the vanilla and sandalwood. So this is sweet and somewhat dark, for lack of a better word, and I tend to really enjoy fragrances like that.
Verdict: The estimated value of my fragrance this month is $13.54. This is somewhat below the month-to-month cost of the box, but not too far off, and don't forget you get a free holder and can exchange fragrances you don't care for, for free. Plus, since I liked the fragrance this month, I am happy with it! You can use Scent Box's tools to choose fragrances that are more your style, of course, and I think this is the only fragrance subscription that offers free returns if something really doesn't work for you, which is a nice bonus.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes, all you have to do is choose this fragrance.
