Scentbird December 2019 Review
This month, I received Scentbird’s “Scent of the Month.” You can either opt for the scent of the month or you can fill a queue with fragrances of your choosing:
There was what is basically an advertising flyer for this month’s scent, “Rosa Nobile” by Acqua di Parma.
There was also some product literature for a perfume (there's often been some advertising material lately).
Rosa Nobile by Acqua di Parma - Estimated Value $27.20 (Buy 20 mL for $68)
As you may know from my other Scentbird reviews, I am not typically a fan of florals. However, I do like fragrances that are tilted towards being specifically rose without a lot of other things in the mix. And this one wears that way on me. Base notes include cedar, ambergris, and musk, and I can detect maybe a little of the wood here, but this one, oddly, isn't characterized by the base at the end of the day, at least when I wear it.
Mid notes include rose (of course), lily of the valley, peony, and violet, but it is the rose that predominates, not only over the other mid notes but also over the fragrance as a whole. It's different from a single-note rose sort of fragrance, but still definitely rose.
Top notes include mandarin, bergamot, and pepper, and this is not a citrus fragrance on me at all, though I suppose these might contribute to the overall blend.
Sillage is moderate and longevity is actually pretty good on me (I put it on at around 8AM and still smelled it while exercising at 8PM, though it wasn't as strong then). Overall, I really like this one.
Verdict: The estimated value of my fragrance this month is $27.20. This is close to twice the monthly cost of the subscription! As it happens, it's also a fragrance I like and different from the others I tend to reach for. It's sort of a summery fragrance for December, but I don't always follow the seasons when I choose a scent, so it works. I do have to hand it to Scentbird, it's nice to get a scent of the month that's not the cheapest fragrance available. Last month's value was a little low, but this more than makes up for it.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes, all you have to do is choose this fragrance for your queue.
Value Breakdown: This subscription is $14.95/monthly and this month, I received $27.20 worth of fragrance (but again, this is highly variable based on what scent or product you choose).
