Ecocentric Mom December 2019 Review
Inside our box was a coupon for 20% off at Little Luminary and a card noting that this box is for a 21-month-old toddler. They also included a link to this page where you can learn more about the items in your box.
Snowmen at Christmas by Caralyn Buehner - Retail Value $6.99 (found here for $3.49)
The first item in our box is a great book, and it is actually one that we already own and love. We have the hardcover version of it along with the other two books in the series. I think this board book version is just as cute and a bit more durable making it perfect for a toddler. If you haven't read any of these yet, they are cute! This particular book imagines what snowmen do at Christmas and all of the celebrations they might have complete with their own snowman Santa. It's imaginative and fun with some great illustrations and perfect for a December box.
Kid-O Mini AirPlane – Retail Value $9.00
This cute little plane is actually a repeat item for us from our February 2019 box and when we reached out to Ecocentric Mom, they did say it was a mistake and they will be sending along the correct item with next month's box! Bennett is already a fan of the first plane we received and while I had this in my pile of stuff to donate, he somehow found the new one and has stolen it to play with, too. Guess he must like it!
Kid-O Myland Friends - $7.98 ($3.99 each)
These little dolls are cute and their heads turn, but other than that, they don't seem to do much. However, if you check out the tag, it lists them as having sound effects that can be activated when used with any of the Myland vehicles which is what we should have received instead of the plane. That makes a lot more sense! Once we get the vehicle next month, we'll see how these cute girls work!
Marama Natural Baby Nourishing Baby Lotion, 8 fl oz
The last item for baby is this bottle of lotion from Marama Natural Baby which is a brand I am familiar with thanks to this box, but it looks like their website is currently unavailable so I was unable to verify a retail value. This lotion is free from sulfates, phthalates, and parabens, plus it's cruelty-free and vegan. It has organic coconut oil, organic aloe, grapeseed oil, and roman chamomile oil along with a few other ingredients. It is a very light lotion and while it felt a tad greasy on my hands, it rubbed into the kids' skin well and left everyone's skin soft and hydrated. There is a very light fresh smell, but it almost seems like an unscented lotion since there is little to no real scent.
EcoMama Mug with Spoon
I love the black and yellow colors and the chalkboard style text on this mug. It's super cute and it has slots in the handle for the spoon to be stored with it. It is definitely on the smaller side but will be perfect for a cup of tea or hot cocoa (I require more coffee than this holds!). It holds about 8 ounces when filled up the top, so probably around 6 ounces comfortably.
CariBBrew Organic Haitian Coffee - Retail Value $11.00
The last item we received is a full 8 oz. bag of coffee. I know not everyone is a coffee drinker like me, but I felt like it was a nice treat and it would be easy to gift since it is a full-size bag, too! This coffee is a medium roast with 100% organic Arabica coffee beans cultivated in Haiti on small farms by a company with a nice mission. The coffee itself was really good, too. It was a smooth, medium-bodied blend that made for several mornings of tasty coffee for my husband and me!
Verdict: I thought this month's mix of items from Ecocentric Mom was very well-rounded and offered some great things for mama and baby. The cute snowman book and the nourishing lotion were great picks for baby in a December box as was the full bag of coffee and cute mug for mama. Since the toy we received was incorrect and the dolls won't work until we receive the correct one, they obviously didn't add much value to the box for us at this time, but I'm looking forward to seeing what happens when these dolls are activated! I could only verify the retail values for the book, coffee, dolls, and plane which totaled $34.97. Since this box costs $36.99 (plus free shipping) and that doesn't include the lotion or the mug, I am pretty sure the value was there this month!
