This is my review of the first-ever Friends Box! (FYI the Winter Box has sold out, but you can sign up for the waitlist to be alerted when subscriptions open again.)

I grew up watching Friends + Simpsons reruns every single day after school with my brother, so this box is 100% nostalgia for me, and I love it!

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

The Box: Friends Box

The Cost: $39.99 plus shipping

The Products: "How you doin? The official Friends subscription box is here! Get EXCLUSIVE officially licensed collectibles, apparel, and accessories based on your favorite characters and episodes delivered straight to your door every quarter."

Ships to: US and Canada

Each box comes with a card showing each of the items in the box:

The theme for the Winter box is "The One That Started It All." OK, let's check out the items!

Friends Sweatshirt

This is a cotton/polyester blend sweatshirt that is so cozy. I picked a size Medium (that's my go-to in most brands like American Eagle), and I thought the fit was perfect. Not oversized, just the right amount of loose fit I like in a sweatshirt.

Friends Denim Cap

I have a giant head, so this velcro adjustable hat is ideal for me! And I like the 90s' denim vibe, too. Very appropriate!

Here are both items on:

Coaster Set

This is the one item in the box I'm not loving. Are you seeing that "They don't know that we know they know we know." coaster? Does it bother you, too?

The picture and quote do not go together!

That's better! My other issue with the coasters is that they have a strong chemical smell. I'll let them air out a bit outside, so that should take care of it, but the one coaster is going to always bug me 🙂

Door PVC Picture Frame

Such a classic! And I love that the fill-in picture is of the peep hole!

Friends Pin Set

This pin set features black and white illustrations of some icon Friends items, with subtle hints of red or yellow.

Central Perk Throw Blanket

The detail on this blanket is impressive. It's a thin blanket, but I think that's necessary for the precise image. It's a super soft plush material, and it could totally double as a photo background if you ever have a Friends themed party!

Stickers

This set includes two sheets of stickers. I like the watercolor look/illustration look, and I'm super partial to lobsters thanks to Friends, so these are just great!

Verdict: As I mentioned at the top of the review, I grew up watching Friends, so as long as Culture Fly delivered quality products, I knew I'd be happy with whatever they sent. I'd give them a solid A on the first Friends box. The value is really great (it works out to about $6 an item) and the product quality lives up to the good standards I've come to expect from CultureFly. I think most Friends fans would love these items, and I'm excited to see what will be in the next box.

What do you think of the first box? What are your thoughts on the coaster? 🙂

I remember seeing when you guys first posted about this box, someone commented that they would love that frame around the peep hole. They called it! Lol

Yes!! I loved this box! I bought myself an annual subscription as a Christmas present to myself 😊. I could have done without the hat because it’s just not something I would ever wear. The plastic in my peep hole frame was totally bent so I took it out and I think we’re going to hang the frame as is on our door 😍

I didn’t even notice the coaster! I don’t understand the style though. I used it once with a cup that was condensation badly and it just left the puddle and made my cup stick to it. Is that how coasters work? 🤣

I really enjoyed most of this box but, yes, the coaster is irritating. Lol. Also my sweatshirt came in the wrong size. Reached out to Culture Fly and they are sending the correct one so not a huge deal.

Could I BE any more excited?!

Maybe it’s just me, but why do companies use Velcro like that on hats??? It sticks to your hair, gets all tangled in your ponytail or bun, and results in extreme pain (plus a mangled hairdo) when you remove the hat! They DO make a plastic velcro now that doesn’t stick to hair (I have two Underarmor children’s hats with that kind and they’re great… I have the opposite problem of Liz, I have a teeny child sized head) but still companies use traditional Velcro that sticks to your hair and rips it out. Ugh. Haha again maybe it is just me but wanted to throw in my frustration.

I LOVE Friends, watched it religiously through middle school and into high school until it came to an end. I want to see a few boxes before I subscribe and would have been very bummed to get that hat with the stupid Velcro! Though even with other Velcro, I wouldn’t have been able to wear it as it would have come down too far on my tiny head and made My ears poke out like an elf’s.

Hi Liz! The photo on the coaster is from the episode where they all pieced together a loooong poking device to poke the ugly naked guy. He wasn’t moving and they were worried something had happened to him😂

I think she’s referring to the “They don’t know that we know they know we know” coaster. The picture doesn’t match the quote.

Jen

I think you should get rid of the coaster that annoys you! It does not spark joy lol. And yes I agree it is bothersome that the quote and picture do not match.

Ditto Amber’s comment that they could have done a great coaster of Chandler on his own; there are so many great Chandler lines! https://www.theodysseyonline.com/10-chandler-bings-quotes

Not only do I not get why the picture on the coaster doesn’t match, I also don’t really love the idea of having poorly made memes lying around my living room. haha Something just a little more carefully designed would’ve made those way nicer.

Loved the first box! Excited to see what the second box includes. I do agree with you about the coaster, the quote should have matched the picture!!! Thanks for a great review, Liz!

Liz – This is off topic but how do you get the curls in your hair that gorgeous? I have a few irons but they aren’t consistent. Do you use a certain brand?

Liz Cadman

Hi Jenny!

I got the Dyson Air Wrap Styler for Christmas, and it’s amazing. It comes with two different barrel sizes, and I used the smaller barrel for tighter curls in this picture. I hope that helps! (Not sure if it will be as amazing for all hair types, but for references, my hair is slightly wavy.)

Jenny, I was just about to comment and ask Liz what kind of curling iron and/or technique she uses. It seems like no matter what I use or how I do those unpredictable tight or poofy early 90’s curls are all I can get from my hair! I don’t know if it’s because I have ZERO natural curl, wave, or even a slight bend to my hair or I’m subconsciously doing something wrong because I graduated HS in ‘93 so I used to do my hair like that on purpose! 😄
I’ve been looking for some kind of styling tool to get curls like the ones Liz is rocking here for the past year. Liz, if you’re reading please share your secret!

Yes, the coaster irritated me too. I might have to get rid of that one. I loved everything else in the box. My daughter took the hat, and I got the sweatshirt. I love it. I got an annual, and I’m looking forward to the next one!

I thought the EXACT same thing when I saw that coaster!

DeeCee

I think they used that picture on the coaster to include an image of Chandler on the set, since he wasn’t pictured on the other quotes.

amber

They could have done a great Chandler coaster on his own.

I recently saw some Friends (and also Golden Girls) pins at Five Below.
