I got my box yesterday, and as soon as I opened it, I loved the smell of the Hair Food shampoo and conditioner! I ordered this box partially because I wanted to try the Olay Retinol product. As soon as I placed my order I came back to MSA and looked at the Allure February spoilers, and they are going to have the same product. LOL! The sample from Target is tiny. I don’t know what size the Allure one will be.

The shampoo and conditioner smell great! I used them this weekend and plan to order the full size product. My color-treated hair seemed to benefit from it too.

I wasn’t going to order either box but I decided I did want a couple of things from the Clean Up Your Beauty Routine but somehow, I’m getting the Sleigh All Day box??? Out for delivery today. I should have caught this with the confirmation email, but I didn’t. I did call but can’t quite figure out how it happened considering I hadn’t put that box in my cart. I did have both of the above in my cart and deleted the other. I’m not mad about it and I actually don’t even care about a refund. Anything I don’t want will be gladly appreciated by someone else.

I noticed some discussion elsewhere that it appears that these beauty boxes are no longer coming out monthly, but now seasonally. One poster claimed that they heard this directly from Target. This seems to possibly be the case, since the boxes are no longer listed by the month. Since the popularity has died down along with Target’s inability to come up with the value and contents like they used to, this likely seems to be the way they are going.

I received both boxes yesterday. Nothing exciting but not mad. The detergent is larger than expected. The hand soap is tiny. A lot of items I’ve never tried.

The hand soap packet would be good to stick on your purse in case you encounter a rest room that’s out of soap.

I actually carry my own hand soap in my purse anyway. I’ve had one too many reactions to liquid soaps in public. If I run out, I use hand sanitizer instead and rinse.
It’s been a few years, but liquid hand soap from a public restroom landed me in the ER. It started itching in the store, I went back into the restroom and rinsed with cold water. We had to leave and go home. My hands turned red a started swelling and itching. Once at home, I took Benadryl and rewashed my hands with dawn dish soap to remove any residue. Then I applied Benadryl cream but after about an hour, it was not getting any better, only worse. I couldn’t even pick up my purse or keys! Hands on fire!!! Who would think that washing your hands in a public restroom would land you in the ER and cost you a couple grand??? I would have to read the ingredients… One thing we do not use is antibacterial soaps. That’s actually a pesticide.

Good idea. I’ll have to stick it in a ziploc in case it leaks

What’s really hurting its the amount of coconut in the products. Not just because I’m allergic but they forget lots of people don’t like certain scents. Both boxes are a easy pass for me.

I really think when they did away with the makeup that hurt them. I remember once we got a Full size elf highlight blush pallet, I bought 3 of those boxes for family.

Ok Target, listen up! I’m sure that laundry soap is very nice but here’s the thing…
I don’t feel guilty about buying as much or as fancy of laundry soap as I want. I consider it a trade off for keeping clean clothes on my kids and husband because lord knows, they’d wear them dirty if I didn’t do it.
What I do feel (a little) guilty about is spending money on beauty products that I really don’t need. This is why you need to step up your game! Help us hard working ladies out and go back to the amazing boxes that no amount of guilt could even touch.

I agree with most of the others. Target has been a big nope for me for quite a while now.

I caved and bought the clean box. This is probably the first box I’ve bought in a year! It seems worth it to me and I want the coupon lol. I hope 2020 brings much better boxes!

Both boxes are sad, but I still got the “clean” beauty one, mostly out of boredom :)).

That’s so funny! I was so bored looking at the box contents that I think my brain went into sleep mode until I read your comment, Emilia. (‘What?! There were two boxes?!’)

Both of these boxes will work great for camping trips.

I can’t remember the last time I ordered a Target box, but I’ve ordered one of each of these! They still aren’t as good as they used to be, but at least they seem worth the $7.00!

I noticed over the weekend that the previous boxes still for sale, no longer have the month they came out listed. I guess they just now sit there until they are sold and they no longer reduce the price towards the end of the month.
These boxes are not half bad, the best I have seen in about 6 months. I may buy one or both, the first ones I may buy since last Spring.
I was also wondering if they still include the 3.00 coupons? Maybe they do not do this anymore? This was a selling point for many of us.

I just got my Clean Up box today, and the $3 coupon was included.

The contents of the Clean box look great but the samples are so small. 2 cotton rounds from their own brand? Hand soap for 1 use?

Do they still include coupons for in store purchases withe the purchase of these boxes? I haven’t bought one in a while

I bought both. There are enough items in each box that I wanted to try. Interesting that these are not named “January” boxes. It makes me wonder if Target won’t be releasing regular monthly boxes.

I’m just so fed up with the Target boxes…I haven’t bought one for months, perhaps even a year. I used to wait anxiously for the release of their boxes so that I could jump on them to bring it home. and now? Meh
Who is the one responsible for the turn of product choices? They should be fired.

Yes, I agree. Let’s take someone’s job away from them because they failed to please you with what I am sure is a tiny fragment of all the different duties that they perform. Or do you actually think someone spends 40 hours a week specifically picking products for a box that is released once a month?

Feeling pretty “meh” about these, but got the Clean Up one. With my red card discount it’s $7.07 including tax, and I do feel I’ll my $7.07’s worth in the products I’ll use, and I can pass along those I won’t to a friend.

Haven’t bought these in months, but I love when they do a clean/CF box. I really enjoy the lumene brand, so I bought 2. That cleansing balm is great, so having the smaller sizes for travel will be great.
Also may be the only one excited to try a laundry soap. I enjoy other LHP.

The laundry soap is a nice big 8 oz bottle. The bottle says “10 loads” but there’s nothing on the bottle that indicates how to measure those 10 loads; one cap full? two cap fulls? The “clean” box is large and heavy; lots of items in there.

You’re not. I bought it specifically for the laundry soap. The rest looks pretty good, too. Just finished a trip and used up a bunch of samples so it will be nice to replenish my travel bag.

Don’t worry, I’m also excited to try the laundry soap. 🙂
I don’t mind the mix of products, just don’t call it a beauty box then.

Me too happy to try the laundry soap! and its a great size to keep in the bathroom to wash delicates in the sink!

Yeah, I agree its now just a random assortment of products. Maybe they’re looking to expand into more categories and will have more boxes (beauty/health, home, etc).

Maybe I’m hyper sensitive from constantly checking for dogwhistling on social media before reposting anything, but yikes at Burts Bees having a product named “Purely White.”

Yes, that seems normal. It’s the concept of “purity” being attached to whiteness that raised my eyebrows.

So far this year 2019 AnninVA would have bougot this month’s Allure, 1 or both of these and probably this month’s BeautyFIX. 2020 AnninVA didn’t cave.

I just counted and that totals about 30 items I was tempted to get but will not bring into my house this month. I should keep a tally. I’m starting to see how I accumulated my well organized but huge collection. I am trying to limit myself to only 5 boxes this year in addition to three pre-paid annual subs I have that will run out by the fall. I don’t want to use up my 5 boxes in January!

Wheres the makeup samples. Why does the first box have laundry soap and hand soap smh thats not beauty.. Hasn’t been a good box since maybe June or May. I keep hoping these will come back the way they used to but I think not! Not worth 7$ maybe if they added makeup to a beauty box then I would purchase.

Beth
They said recently on Twitter that they have no upcoming plans to include makeup items in their beauty boxes. So the great boxes might be a thing of the past…
Reply
JuJu
Ha, they can’t be for real with that! I mean, have they somehow failed to notice that the boxes never sell anymore?
Oh well, good buy Target beauty box then.
AnninVA
To each their own. I’m destashing so I’m holding off on buying these but I am tempted. I love samples of hand wash and laundry detergent for travel. I have 3 kids ages 5 and under and we went to Disney World for 5 days a few months ago. We planned to not do laundry but took some samples just in case and of course ended up needing to use them.

Have you tried detergent strips? They’re so great for travel. You don’t have to worry about anything leaking in your bag and I swear it seems as if they stay good forever. Great for road trip laundromat usage or just washing stuff in the sink.
AnninVA
Maybe Target is testing the market to see if customers want a home products sample box.
Redhed36
I grabbed one of each. I do think they need to start stepping up their game.
