The Organic Bunny Box December 2019 Review

The Organic Bunny Box doesn't include an info card but normally has all the items listed on their website by the time it arrives.

Graydon Skincare Intimacy Oil, 3.38 oz. - Retail Value $49.00

You should all know how much I love blue tansy by now- but let me say two things. One: do not spray this directly onto your face. It's an oil meant more for the body and it does not finely mist. Best to spray it onto a cotton pad and then spread it over your skin if you want to use it on the face. Two: I think the name of this is a little misleading. "Intimacy Oil" makes it seem like a lubricant or sexual enhancement product. Although- they do say in the booklet included that it can be used for massage oil which I like the idea of. You can also use it in hair or for shaving which makes more sense than a facial product to me. In addition to the blue tansy, this full-size bottle also includes bergamot, coffee, pineapple, and many other oils to help moisturize, repair, and calm your skin.

Max & Me The Intuitive Facial Mist, 1.014 oz. - Estimated Value $22.37 (Buy 3.4 oz. for $75.00)

Okay- this has a really wonderful fine mist to it, but the scent... I can't describe it. This mist is made with a bunch of different flower waters, but when misted, it smells just sorta not pleasant to me. Looking at reviews on their website confirms that it's unique and not all that popular. It's really cooling though so it at least feels good while you're using it and the scent doesn't really stick around.

Noyah Lip Gloss in 'Deeply in Mauve' - Retail Value $16.00

This gloss is not sticky at all and I found it to be rather creamy, almost. The color is a beautifully pigmented mauve which I like too. I think the bamboo cap with cherry blossoms painted on it is also really cute. This is a nice little gloss for an easy switch to natural beauty.

Olio E Osso Balm No. 6 in Bronze, 0.35 oz. - Retail Value $28.00

I see this brand everywhere- mainly these balms- and have been curious about them! Bronze isn't my preferred color, but this stick is supposed to be used for lips, or highlighter and bronzer on the face. I swiped a bit under my cheekbones and didn't see a whole lot but felt the creamy balm. I have to say I'm not big on this as a face product, but on my lips, it felt really moisturizing. There's also a bit of a shimmer to it as well and the pigment is extremely subtle. I think there are people out there who know how to use this balm well, but it's a little tricky for me.

Here is the bronze balm (barely noticeable) above the mauve lip gloss.

Skin Owl Body+ Illuminator in Rose Quartz, 2 oz. - Retail Value $62.00

This body and face oil really delivers on the shimmer! It's not too heavy at all and while I'm not a fan of sparkles, I put some on my shoulder and it really made my skin glow. It's gorgeous to look at on my shelf and contains ingredients like sweet almond oil, organic jojoba, and vitamin E so it's packed with good stuff too. Although this pink sparkle oil is inspired by rose quartz, the glittery experience comes from mica, which is a common ingredient for shimmering cosmetics. This one isn't for me, but I know a lot of people will delight in this fun oil!

Teami Ceremonial Grade Matcha Powder, 1 oz. - Retail Value $29.99

Mmm- matcha! I have a lot of matcha on hand at home already but I am intrigued by this ceremonial grade powder. The tin is cute and small and comes with a silver pouch containing the soft green matcha powder. My favorite way to enjoy it is as an iced latte with a little bit of agave. I've been making drinks with this in the morning instead of coffee and must say that I'm impressed with the fact that I don't feel the need for more caffeine at all.

Theo Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups - Retail Value $2.29

Ah, peanut butter cups- my number one favorite treat! Especially in dark chocolate! These are extra cute since they're heart-shaped and they're extra great because they're fair trade and organic. I ate one myself and shared one with my special sweetie because he loves PB cups too. These were incredibly creamy and just melted in my mouth! I'll certainly look for Theo's in the future.

Verdict: Organic Bunny Box was a little all over the board for me this month. At a glance I really liked everything, but once I went to use it- I had some trouble. The Organic Bunny tends to like shimmery makeup items as well which don't always excite me, but there is definitely a huge audience for it. This box always seems like a random mish-mash of items which can be awesome since you get to try a lot but also having no theme can seem a bit cluttered to me as well. As I've always said- if you want to try many different non-toxic beauty items every month- this is a great box for you. If you like a more tightly curated box, then perhaps there are others better suited for you. The total retail value of this box is $203.65 which is stellar for $59.

Looks like a good box! The Olio & Osso balm is a nice “get” for a smaller sub company.

I believe Graydon had that Intimacy Oil as a freebie for $50+ purchases from their shop on Boxing Day and a few days after. For some reason, I couldn’t get their 30% off sale to work then, so I may look into purchasing this oil on its own. Thanks for the review! 🙂

This box looks great for me, brands I like and want to try and food I can eat! Too bad it’s gone! Does MSA do spoilers for this one?

Luna

Unfortunately, the spoilers don’t come out until after they’ve moved onto the next box. 🙁 …like how Macy’s does.

When did the December box sell out? I found spoilers on 12/19/19.

Thanks. Boo! I wonder if they are not available at all or just not here. I sometimes see spoilers that don’t end up here.

I’m surprised that Organic Bunny would use mica in products, as much is mined in Africa, using children as workers.

Of course, it’s possible that OB sources mica from elsewhere. Still, an increase in the demand for mica would have repercussions for those African mines, even if OB’s source is pc.

The mica source has been verified and it’s not from child labor! I asked and they referred me to Skin owl which explains this on their site 🙂

This looked like a great box. Sad I missed it during my no-buy. I would have LOVED to try that Graydon oil & Max & Me face mist. I think the Organic Bunny box is getting quite popular now (which I think is so cool), because when I went to purchase the January box toward the very end of December it was already showing that January was sold out and February would be my first box. Starting last year, I typically buy the boxes one box at a time since it’s the same price as subbing, and I’ve always been able to get the current month’s box as late as the 10th or maybe even the 15th if I forgot to purchase it at the beginning of the month. I just saw what’s included in January’s box, and I guess I’m okay with missing out on it even though there are two skincare products I would love to have received. I think once it shows February is sold out I’ll just get a 6-month sub like I always did prior to last year since I plan to get the box thru October anyway, and I don’t want to risk missing out on anymore boxes.

I’m currently using an Olio e Osso balm as my lip balm at work since I don’t like to use cream based makeup on my face (doesn’t feel or look good on my oily skin). The color is pretty non-existent on my lips, but like Marne said, it’s quite moisturizing. It’s lasting forever too since it’s so huge. I’m just about at the halfway point, and I’ve been using it for about 4 or 5 months. The only negative is that I can tell its flavor/scent is a little off now, but I can deal. I noticed this happened with another mega sized natural lip balm too I used last year. I’m using a conventional jumbo sized balm at home for right before I apply my colored lip products, and I’ve been using that for at least 6 months and it smells just like new. Ahhhh… preservatives 🙂 The only other thing is since it’s so wide I always have to apply it to my lips differently to try to even it out. I’m not being too successful as right now it looks quite lumpy with different sized divots in it. lol

I also just finished a Skin Owl Body+ that also had mica in it, but I think they discontinued it since I didn’t see that particular one on their website. I would have gifted the one in this box, but the one I used was far more subtle and actually really had no shimmery effect whatsoever which was nice for me since for the most part I’m not a fan of having mica in my skincare (body & face). The formula was a bit thicker than a typical body oil, so I felt like I gave my arms a nice little workout massaging it all in. lol

Marne, peanut butter cups are my favorite too! Every year I have to get those jumbo sized Reeses Peanut Butter cups that come out during the holidays and are like 1 or 2 pounds total. lol They’re so big I have to slice them up like a pie. Even though I love them I rarely eat them, so I’m always in peanut butter cup heaven for two weeks. 😀
