Our Trendmood Vol 1. Review
This box sold out so fast I was shocked I even was able to snag one. I can't say the same thing for Vol.2, which sold out in literally less than 30 minutes. Bummer for me because I love a box filled with new and full-size goodies!
It arrived with a fortune cookie with a cute Trendmood-themed message of 'Happy Holidays.'
This is a box that promises new beauty launches from bigger brands. Each item comes with an informative card, which is really very cool and a nice way to deliver details about a new product. I am super excited to dive in, so let's see what we have!
Ole Henriksen Truth Juice Daily Cleanser, 5 fl oz - Retail Value $28.00
I go through tons of cleanser because I usually double cleanse, especially on my T-zone. I like the Ole Henriksen brand, and this cheerful cleanser just has some fierce summer vibes! It has a fresh citrus scent and felt awesome on my face, removing dirt and makeup easily and without making my face feel tight or stripped of all the good oils that make it soft, probably due to the amounts of skin pampering botanicals from citrus, rosehip, and seabuckthorn!
Ole Henriksen C-Rush Brightening Double Creme, 1.7 oz - Retail Value $46.00
This cream was a perfect pairing to the cleanser from the same line. I am really loving the brightly colored packaging. I personally loved this cream, but there were a few reviewers on Sephora that cautioned it made them break out. I don't generally have breakouts per se (I usually get one totally awful under-the-skin monster pimple if anything) so I did not have this reaction. I found it was a great day cream and made my face feel soft and bright, while laying a great base for my daily makeup routine. It wasn't heavy enough for me to justify using at night, but since this feels like more of an energizing cream, that is quite ok. If you have sensitive skin, maybe give this a patch test, but I personally really liked it and its creamy orange scent.
Inn Beauty Project Glaze #1 LipOil, 5 ml - Retail Value $15.00
I am LIVING for these bright bottles and tubes! I feel like there has been a massive shift to reserved and minimal packaging and I think I am ready for some fun. This brand is one I plan on keeping an eye on because I also sampled their Power Up: Dual-Phase Setting Face Mist in my December BoxyLuxe and really liked it. This gloss is a cherry shine dream and has the most adorably oversized doe-foot applicator. It smells like cherry candies and gives my lips the most delicious shine with just a hint of sheer red.
A very natural glaze.
Elcie Cosmetics Velvet Sponge - Retail Value $18.00
This might be the item I am least excited about but that is only because I don't use makeup sponges. I can appreciate the dramatically tapered end though because I feel like you can get right up into the tight spaces around your eyes. I also like the rounder end because it would be great for buffing in cream foundation.
Natasha Denona The Mini Tropic Eyeshadow Palette, - Retail Value $25.00
Look at this cute mini palette! These colors are actually so much wilder than I would normally ever reach for, but there is one in particular that makes me feel so incredibly nostalgic. There was this eyeliner pencil I used to wear every single day when I was around 14-15 and it was this vibrant electric blue. I was a lot wilder back then! It was a matte cream and I was just obsessed with it. I swear my eyelids were stained from it! Laguna reminds me so much of this liner and the pigment is especially insane in the same way. I did find that all of these were easier to apply with my fingertip then blended with a brush, because despite the excellent pigment and formulation, there is a lot of fallout, especially in the mattes. Still, the mattes in this palette were my favorites and I would have a hard time choosing between 'Laguna' or 'Zena.'
Top to bottom: Mint Frost, Exotic, Laguna, Tiger Lily, and Zena
Let's time travel back to when I wore crazy eye colors (and colors in general) and felt like I knew my way around an eyelid. This is totally a look a 14-year-old Megan would have tried to sneak out of the house in. I used 'Laguna' on the edge of my lid (much as I used to use that bright liner) and also added a little 'Mint Frost' to the inner eye and some 'Zena' in my crease. I also used a random highlighter under my brow. While I would probably never wear this look today, I would have LOVED this back then.
As a side note, please excuse the mascara on this one. I tried a primer and it was a major fail!
Bite Beauty Power MOVE Creamy Matte Lip Crayon in Pavlova, 1.5 g - Retail Value $24.00
I adore Bite Beauty and the shade of this pencil crayon has me swooning! The formula is also incredible, one of those mattes that feels more like a satin on your lips. It isn't kiss- or transfer-proof, but that is fine with me because I don't like true mattes without a little gloss or balm on top. The color is a rich raspberry red and it looks so great on my lips. It is also on the buildable side, so you could totally just apply a little then top with a balm for a stain look.
Swoooooon.
Verdict: The Trendmood Vol. 1 Box was really impressive. I really wish I had been able to snag Volume 2 and I am kicking myself for not jumping on it sooner. With a value of $156 for an investment of $39, there are 117 extra dollar shaped reasons to love this box. The Ole Henriksen products were both winners in my book, and I love the citrus feel of both. I am really excited to see more from Inn Beauty and the gloss was a dream. The sponge I won't really use, but I am happy to pass it along to a friend because it is great quality. The Natasha Denona palette was pure nostalgia and even though the colors are not ones I would ever buy for myself, I plan on keeping it because it makes me really happy to look at it. The Bite Beauty lip crayon was a total home run. All in all, this experience with the first box makes me super determined to snag Volume 3 whenever it launches!!
