Way back when I was subscribed to Birchbox (I think that’s over two years ago), I got this sample from Dr. Lipp. I liked it then and I liked it now— a little goes a long way and this is a very thick balm. I like using thicker lip products like this before I go to bed, and this fits well for that purpose.
Avène Cicalfate LIPS Restorative Lip Cream, 0.30 oz - Retail Value $18
This is a water-resistant lip cream made with zinc oxide, zinc sulfate, and thermal spring water. Along with keeping your lips soft and nourished, this is designed for treating cracked lips or lips prone to lesions. I thought this was gentle, and I am going to be keeping this to the side so I have it ready to nourish any future lip ailments.
Grande Cosmetics GrandeLIPS Hydrating Lip Plumper in Barely There, 0.05 oz - Estimated Value $16.87 (Buy a full-size 0.08 oz for $27)
Grande Lips and I just do not get along- I have tried multiple shades from them, spread out over months, and each time I try it this lip plumper goes right past the tingling sensation and heads straight to burning. I also tend to get pimples right next to my lip whenever this lip plumper is applied.

ARROW BOOST Color Enhancing Lip Balm in Blush Hour, Full-Size! Retail Value $15
This is a lip balm that changes into a light pink when you apply it, and the color is a little different for everyone depending on your body’s chemistry. This is a solid “no makeup but I want to look put together” lip balm, but I don’t see myself paying full price for this. Good thing we have discovery kits like these to get the products at a discount!
Whish Vanilla Lip Scrub 0.25 oz – Estimated Value $5 (Buy the 1 oz version for $20)
I have tried this lip scrub before, and it isn’t the best. There are very few scrubby granules in this, so it is more like a thick lip mask rather than an effective scrub. It tastes like vanilla, though!
(MALIN+GOETZ) lip moisturizer, 0.30 oz - Retail Value $14
This was my favorite discovery in the box- it has that nourishing thick formula that feels like it is sealing your lips the way Vaseline does, only its not as thick and goopy as actual Vaseline thanks to the gel texture. This is a vegan lip balm, too, so there is no lanolin or beeswax if vegan beauty products are what you use.
TPSY Lip Crush Lip Oil, 1 ml - Estimated Value $4.67 (Buy the 0.1 oz version for $14)
I have tried this lip oil before, but I can't remember where. I like it, though! It gives your lips the soft and shiny look of a gloss without being sticky, and the pH-adjusting formula will give your lips a soft pink hue.
Verdict: I am a lipstick fiend, so I really enjoyed this kit dedicated to lip care! Some of the products were misses for me, but I love that the two full-size products were wins in my book. Lips need skincare love, too, and not just the rest of our face! Value-wise, Birchbox promised a value of $74, and by my math, everything in the kit adds up to $76.79
