BomiBox K-Beauty Subscription January 2020 Review

BomiBox has detailed info cards for each month’s box on their website. The info card describes all the items included in the box and instructions on how to use them. This is great since a lot of the products have instructions that are not in English.

Skinfood Soft Scrub Wash-off Rice Mask, 3.5 oz - Retail Value $10

This mask was so fun- it has the texture and consistency of wet oatmeal, so it truly is a gentle physical exfoliant. This also has jojoba oil and glycerin, so it’s nourishing to the skin. This is a really fun mask to wear when I’m sitting in a hot bath with a book, and my skin is softer after every use. At an affordable $10 for the full size, this is a mask worth trying out.

innisfree Jeju Volcanic Nose Pack, 6 patches - Retail Value $6

I was a big fan of blackhead nose patches like these when I was younger, but I don't really reach for them now that I know they have the potential to cause more harm than good. I do love the innisfree brand, though, and these strips are made with Jeju volcanic clay to help absorb sebum from your nose.

TONYMOLY The Chok Chok Green Tea Foam Cleanser, 50 ml - Estimated Value $4.67 (Buy the 150 ml version for $14)

If I ever run out of cleansers from subscription boxes (unlikely but within the realm of possibility), cleansers will never be a skincare product I splurge on. Why would I, when there are so many effective cleansers from K-beauty brands like this one that retails for under $15? This features fermented green tea that was gentle on my skin while still providing a deep cleanse, and I didn’t feel like my face was tight or overly dry after using.

TONYMOLY The Chok Chok Green Tea Watery Eye Cream, 1 ounce - Retail Value $24

I enjoyed this thin gel eye cream- 40% of this eye cream is fermented black tea extract, and this also has niacinamide and adenosine to nourish and brighten while providing antioxidants. This was very gentle and absorbed into my delicate eye area quickly with no irritation, and it has become the eye cream I reach for during my morning routine.

TONYMOLY The Chok Chok Green Tea Intense Cream, 60 ml - Retail Value $15.57 (found here for $13.23)

Usually, the first ingredient on a moisturizer is distilled water, but TONYMOLY instead used fermented green tea. My skin loves this moisturizer- it has the thickness you would expect from a moisturizer named "intense," and it keeps my skin well-moisturized all night when I sleep.

TONYMOLY I'm Real Broccoli Mask Sheet - Estimated Value $3 (Buy two for $6)

Since I actually review the monthly bundle from TONYMOLY, I have tried almost every variation of the I'm Real sheet masks. Even though this is the broccoli mask, I found humor in the fact that cabbage appeared on the ingredients list before broccoli did. The material on this was a bit stiff and didn't want to hug my face, but my skin soaked up all of the veggie-packed moisture this had to offer.

TONYMOLY The Chok Chok Green Tea Watery Mask Sheet - Retail Value $7.90 (Buy one for $3.90, on sale for $3.60)

These sheet masks stick with the fermented green tea extract to nourish and soothe the skin, and these masks definitely had a lot of watery essence to them. I was able to wear them for over thirty minutes without them drying out, and my skin soaked it all up until my cheeks were moist and plump. This is the kind of sheet mask I would want to reach for after doing some strong exfoliation to make sure my sensitive skin was properly soothed.

Kim Jeong Moon Aloe Cure Intensive 2x Cream Mini – Buy 50 g for $37.50 (found here for $23.95)

I couldn't find the size on this mini anywhere, and while the online BomiBox info page will usually list the size, that information was lacking for this item. This is made with aloe vera and beeswax, so it has some great soothing and nourishing properties for dry skin. I have tried this on lips with and on a dry patch on my arms with success in both areas, so I have designated this as my purse multipurpose balm for any potential skin ailments when I am out and about.

Laneige Cica Sleeping Mask, 10 ml - Estimated Value $5.67 (Buy the 60 ml version for $34)

I actually own the full size of this sleeping mask, and it’s almost empty. I absolutely love it- it’s thicker than the original Laneige sleeping mask, and it definitely feels like a nourishing cloud on my skin. The ingredients list contains sensitive skin heavy hitters like squalane, madecassoside, and Centella Asiatica, and if you have dry, sensitive skin I can’t recommend this enough.

Ample:N VCShot Oxygen Peel – Retail Value $2.75 (found here for $1.93)

This was a miss for me- it is supposed to be a mask that bubbles up to exfoliate your pores, but this didn't bubble up on me (and let's be honest, that is part of the fun). This didn't irritate my skin, though, so we can file this under "no harm no foul."

Swanicoco Fermentation Peptine Care Eye Cream, 5 ml– Estimated Value $9.50 (Buy the 20 mL for $38)

This eye cream has a thinner texture which makes it a good option for a morning eye cream for me, and I like that it has ceramides and peptides in it to keep the delicate skin under my eyes healthy and soft. I do question if we needed this eye cream sample since this box also came with a full-size tube from TONYMOLY, but hey- at least I like them both.

The Verdict: This is one of my favorite K-beauty boxes because each time it arrives I feel like I was sent a box straight from the K-beauty websites I use when I need to stock up. I loved the green theme of this month's box, and my skin truly enjoyed all of the TONYMOLY green tea products. Value-wise, I calculated a total value of  $89.06 for everything except the Kim Jeong Moon balm.

To Wrap Up:

Can I get this box if I sign up today? Previous boxes are sometimes available in the BomiBox shop here for $35.99 + shipping. Order by the 15th to receive the current month's box. If you order today, your first regular box will be the March box, but beware of the late shipping.

Value Breakdown: At $38.99 for this box, you're paying about $3.54 per item.
