Habitation Box is a home subscription box filled with beautiful, neutral items curated by Kelly, a professional designer. I am incredibly impressed with how Kelly hand-selects every item in the box, going as far as having small businesses create custom items to help her visions come alive. (Seriously, she went to a nursery and selected every live plant herself for the August 2019 box!) The results are a box of high quality, practical, and versatile home decor items that create a calm and welcoming space with each delivery.
Boxes are available on a monthly or quarterly basis. There are 2 subscription levels available:
- Habitation I: 3-6 high-quality home decor items for $54.99 + $12 US shipping

This review is for the Habitation I box for $54.99/month + shipping.

Habitation Box "Love for Your Home" February 2020 Review
February's Habitation Box features a beautifully curated box of items that celebrate the traditional Valentine's Day motto of love, but instead of showing love for a person, this box shows your home a little love! This box focuses on high quality, gorgeous, and practical household items that you never knew you needed! We received 6 lovely items that sprinkle love all-around the home. The pamphlet includes all of the contents of this month's box, as well as retail values, decorating tips, and spoilers for next month's box.
Wire String Lights - Listed Value $8
This is the first item I pulled from the box and I couldn't wait to try it out! This lovely wire garland is adorned with tiny warm white lights and is a whopping 32 feet long! While the string was carefully wrapped and packaged, I found them a bit troublesome to uncoil. Once I enlisted the help of my 4-year-old to untangle, we discovered just how long this strand is! Charlie was holding the one end in the living room, and I held the other end in the kitchen! It was quite impressive! I love how easily the wire bends and you can manipulate it to fit into whatever kind of space you want to enhance with sparkle. I ended up tripling up the strand to fit it in a smaller area and was very happy with the outcome. The only qualm I had with these lights is the fact that they didn't come with batteries. You need 3 AA batteries for these to work, and I had to scrounge around to find some to give them a try. The effect was well worth it though!
Bloomingville Lidded Jar and Spoon - Listed Value $12 (found a similar version here for $16.80)
Oh, how I love this lidded jar and spoon! At first, I was unsure of what I would do with this beautiful piece, but after some deliberation, I decided to use it in my washroom to store my loose bath scrub for easy utilization and I love it! The photos just don't do this piece justice. I took a pottery class in college, and I could only dream of creating a jar this beautiful! I am completely in love with the cream and light blue speckled glaze that this jar is sprinkled in. I also am impressed with just how well the bamboo lid fits and looks along with the ceramic spoon. This is not cheaply made, I can tell you that for a fact! The included brochure suggests filling this jar with sugar, salt, or a special spice, but I found it coordinated with my bathroom a lot more than my kitchen, and I was perfectly okay with that! (For reference the jar is 3 1/2" tall and 4" wide.)
Bubble Up Soap Dispenser & Dish Brush Set - Listed Value $12 (found here for $9.19)
I can honestly say I have gone through more than my fair share of scrub brushes in the past. I have tried ones with handles, one with finger holes, and ones shaped liked fruit, and I have never been so impressed than I was with this one. This Bubble Up soap dispenser and brush set include a beautifully simple white ceramic container, a lime green soap dispenser with spring, and a bamboo-handled scrub brush. To get your brush in working order, you add soap to the bottom of the ceramic dish, gently press up and down to generate foam, and proceed to clean your dishes. The uniquely shaped handle is easy to grip and is comfortable to hold for maximum scrubbing! I also found this piece to be easy to clean, and to work well on dried on debris! While lime green isn't usually my go-to color, I found this to be fun, stylish, and practical, all while adding a pop of color to my conservative kitchen!
Cotton Hand Towel - Listed Value $8
A "love for your home" box just wouldn't be complete without a hand towel! Here we received a 100% cotton waffle patterned hand towel. It is about 28"X18" and is super soft and absorbent. The pro tip suggested draping this over the edge of the sink to bring a crisp look of spring to your kitchen. While it looked beautiful that way, I could just see my 4-year-old son grabbing it to wipe his dirty face on it, so I opted to hang this in my washroom for safety. I must say the simple, clean look gives my bathroom a very inviting feel and I just love how it looks on my bronze towel holder!
Bloomingville Vase - Listed Value $20
Because I loved the first Bloomingville item so much, I couldn't wait to tear open this box, and for good reason- isn't this vase pretty?! Like the lidded jar, this vase is even more beautiful in person. This rippled piece is about 7" tall X 5" wide and features an ombre glaze that fades from light green to cream. Blackish/brown speckles are mottled throughout- even on the inside! The bottom is marked with the Bloomingville brand and has 3 foam table protectors on the bottom. I find the irregular opening to be stunning, and can't wait for spring to fill this piece up with flowers! In the meantime, it is sitting in my washroom on a shelf, giving off a calm, clean feel, while looking lovely by itself!
Sweet Grace Laundry Soap 6 fl oz. - Retail Value $9
Have you ever smelled a laundry detergent so delicious you WANTED to do laundry? I hadn't either until today. This "Sweet Grace" laundry soap is made by the Bridgewater Candle Company, and is crazy expensive, but smells oh so wonderful! The description of this scent is described as a mix of sparkling tea and patchouli oil. While I don't find it particularly fruity, it has some very warm notes that keep me going back for more! I was happy to see that this detergent contains no bleach, phosphates, enzymes or dyes, is cruelty-free, is not tested on animals, and is made in the USA! The bottle suggests using two fluid ounces of detergent for a machine washed load, so this bottle should last 6 loads. Because I want to preserve it as much as I can, I used only half of the amount with my regular unscented detergent, and came out with extra clean clothes that smelled liked heaven! (I especially loved the way it made my towels and linens smell, so I plan on saving my remaining amount for that!)
After reviewing the pamphlet and checking out my new items, I decided to branch out from just the kitchen and disperse my items all around my home. Obviously, the laundry soap ended up in the laundry room, but the other items found themselves in my living room, bathroom, and kitchen. I was very happy with my placement, and can't wait to crawl into my "Sweet Grace" smelling sheets tonight!
Verdict: I LOVE Habitation Box! I honestly never thought I could fall in love with the smell of laundry soap, and here I am wafting it into my nose as I type! Besides the laundry soap, I just plain loved this box. I was a little hesitant to see this month's theme, but after using each of the items, I felt it was a very practical, high quality, and beautiful curation! I also have to mention, getting the new fun brush scrubbie had my husband ASKING to do the dishes to try it out. I mean whhhatt?! I think that is worth it right there! The listed value of this box comes in at $69.00 which breaks even with the subscription cost of $69 ($54.99 + $14 shipping). Most of the items I found the retail values for online were at or even above what Kelly has listed in the pamphlet. I find this subscription to be perfect for my house, and I love the way I have been introduced to new items that can be used every day and make my home beautiful. I can't wait to see what she has in store for March!
