January 2020 Target Beauty Box Review

This info card provides a short description of each item sampled and on the flip side a Target coupon good for $3 off a beauty purchase of $15 or more. This month I received an in-store coupon that also includes a promo code that can be redeemed online.

Moving on to Target Beauty Box January's beauty picks!

Hair Food Coconut & Chai Spice Sulfate-Free Shampoo, 3 fl oz - Estimated Value $2.37  (Buy 10.1 oz for $7.99)

Hair Food Coconut & Chai Spice Sulfate-Free Conditioner, 3 fl oz - Estimated Value $2.37  (Buy 10.1 oz for $7.99)

I really love getting travel-sized shampoo and conditioner from the same line. I could smell them before I even opened my box, and this pair smells so warm and sweet. First I picked up on the coconut milk notes, but once applied to my hair I smelled the chai spices; what a great fragrance for nourishing, winter shampoo! This formula is sulfate, paraben and mineral oil free, all of the great qualities I look for in hair products.

Crest 3D White Radiant Mint Toothpaste, 0.85 oz - Estimated Value $0.83 (Buy 4.1 oz for $3.99)

This is a repeat product from Target, but I can't deny my love for mini toothpaste. I have quite the collection, and they are always put to good use when we are between full-sized tubes. This is a really refreshing toothpaste, and my mouth always feels squeaky clean after brushing.

Que Bella Limited Edition Watermelon Peel-off Mask, 0.24 oz - Estimated Value $1.45 (Buy 0.33 oz for $1.99) Cooling Avocado Clay Mask Duo, 0.24 oz. - Estimated Value $0.96 (Buy 0.5 oz for $1.99)

Since this duo isn't sold in stores, I linked the individual masks above. Even though I feel like my life is a little too hectic to successfully do a peel-off mask, I attempted it anyway. I used this all over my face, and I'm not sure if I didn't apply a layer that was thick enough, but it did not peel off in big satisfying strips. I actually ended up getting frustrated and rubbing the majority off. I was pleased with the avocado clay mask, though. I let it dry on my face, and after washing it off, my face looked fresh and felt clean and smooth.

Creme of Nature Perfect Hold with Exotic Shine, 0.10 oz. - Estimated Value $0.27 (Buy 2.25 oz for $5.99)

My hair isn't a type that usually benefits from using gel, but I can tell this isn't your crunchy Dep gel from the '90s. It seems more moisturizing, and it smells great. There wasn't enough to get a great impression, but I would definitely try this product again if I had access to more of it.

No7 Laboratories Firming Booster Serum, 0.11 fl oz. - Estimated Value $4.62 (Buy 1 fl oz for $41.99)

No7 seems to make its way into Target Beauty Boxes every few months, and I always enjoy trying their products. It is always hard to catch a feel for a skincare product in such a short period of time, but I like the lightweight texture of this serum, and since it is a booster, you can just add it to your everyday products to up the anti-aging, line-fighting impact.

Olay Regenerist Whip Facial Moisturizer, 0.18 oz. - Estimated Value $3.07 (Buy 1.7 oz for $28.99)

Two things I loved about this moisturizer right off the bat: it has a bouncy whipped texture and it is fragrance-free! Olay has been a family favorite for decades, and they keep upping their game with products like this. It felt great under my makeup, and I think it is awesome that it came with a $3 off coupon.

Olay Regenerist Retinol 24 Night Moisturizer, 0.18 oz. - Estimated Value $3.07 (Buy 1.7 oz for $28.99)

Since I am breastfeeding, I can't use retinol in my skincare, so I used Ryan as my guinea pig. He put this on after cleansing last night and said his skin felt soft and moisturized this morning. He complained that the sample was too small (only two applications for him), but other than that, he said he liked using it. This moisturizer is fragrance-free, and like the moisturizer sample above, it also included a $3 off Olay coupon.

Verdict: Target Beauty Box had some really great samples this month. I love the design of the box, and I will likely use all of these samples up. This box is a great way to stock up on travel essentials, and I love seeing the different products and brands Target has to offer. The value of this box is $19.01, over double the $7 box cost (which includes free shipping).

I’m a self-proclaimed “cool mom” who loves a little, who am I kidding, a lot of razzle-dazzle. I have been box-obsessed for over 10 years, and I am always on the hunt for new beauty, fun flair and trendy clothing boxes. A fun night for me includes an exfoliating foot mask and a bag of Dot's Pretzels while binging Rupaul’s Drag Race.

First one I have bought in a long time, and I used to buy every month. Thanks for the great review!

Am I crazy to be shocked at the $29 RV on the Olay creams?? I’ve been watching the pricepoints creep up on drugstore makeup but I think I just completely missed that the same thing was going on with drugstore skincare! I remember when Olay was like $7 for a face cream. Yikes. Well makes me feel less bad about opening my 15th tube of Dr. Jart Ceramidin Cream that is $48 RV, but I get during Sephora 20% off sales so is only $40… that’s only $11 more than Olay (though yes I know you can also get Olay on sale and stack sales with coupons…)

I really like the olay regenerist line. I feel it’s on par or better than the department store brands that cost $100+. It does seem steep to cough up $25-$35 for olay and neutrogena, but I don’t mind as long as it works for me.

I had received a sample of Olay Regenerist Whip a while back and thought it was well worth the $30 price. Unfortunately, I bought the Whip with SPF and it was not the same product. The 25 SPF stung my face and the texture of the cream was so not whipped. Now I’m back to the original cheaper Olay with SPF 15 and am happy. Glad to have this sample though for days I’m mainly inside.

That was a great box and I just snagged one. Now will I auto get it every month or do I have to go in each month and buy?

Nan

Buy it each month.

You buy every month, no automatic ship.

I am surprised Ryan could only get two uses out of the Olay Retinol Sample. It is a small product but I feel like you don’t need much. Maybe I’m not using enough product?

I think he just has a big head, lol! And his beard soaks up a lot of product, too 😉

The box isn’t great, but I’m going to pick up the Perfect Edge, I’ve been wanting a light weight product like that! This is why I love reading the reviews.

It was a nice surprise to receive the two $3 Olay coupons. Adding the Target $3 coupon, there was $9 worth of coupons in this $7 box.

The only thing I love about that box, is the box! Lol
