Wantable Style Edit Box February 2020 Review

This is my first month trying a box from Wantable, and I'm excited to take you through the experience!

When you sign up for a Wantable Edit, you fill out an extensive style profile. They ask what kind of items you would like to receive along with size, color, style, and price point preferences. Each category is ranked with love, like, or dislike. There is also a space to leave notes for your stylist. By the end, your stylist should have a very good idea of what you like and don’t like. I tried to keep my profile fairly open, because I want to be able to trust the stylists and see what they pick out for me! See below for how I filled my profile out:

Each edit includes 7 clothing and accessories items picked for you by your stylist using your style profile. You have 5 days to try everything on and to send what you don’t want to purchase back in the included prepaid envelope. My items are reflective of my style and price preferences, so your Wantable Style Edit may be completely different!

Each Edit comes with this information packet that includes an invoice and a prepaid return label and bag so you can send any unwanted items back.

The info booklet includes a note from your stylist and the invoice. This month, Mary sent me 7 clothing items. Above you can see the invoice included. If I were to keep the entire box, the $454.32 total (with tax) would be discounted $106.86 (20% off + $20 styling fee deducted) for a total of $347.46. With this discount, each item would cost an average of $49.64.

In my note to the stylist, I had asked for a pair of high-waisted jeans, as I've been really wanting to try this trend, and also for some business casual clothes to wear to work.

Now, let's see what she sent!

Short Sleeve Pocket Tee in White, W. by Wantable - Retail Value 38.00 (keep)

My first item is a classic white V-neck T-shirt. It has a pocket on one side and features a curved hemline, two details that really elevate this basic for me. The material is a rayon/spandex blend, which makes this shirt extra soft and drapey. You would think that I would already have a perfect white V-neck shirt in my closet, but I actually don't! That makes this shirt a win for me, because I know I can definitely get a lot of use out of this versatile, classic piece.

Ace High-Rise Skinny in Medium Wash, Vigoss - Retail Value $68.00 (listed on the Vigoss website as $74.00) (keep)

Mary came through with the perfect high-rise skinny jeans I've been searching for! I've been on the fence about the high-rise trend, but after seeing several of my friends rocking jeans like this, I knew I wanted to try a pair for myself. These jeans exceeded my expectations - they are the prefect blend of stretchy and comfortable, all while maintaining their shape when you wear them. The length is perfect on me (I'm 5'7" for reference) as they hit right above my ankle boots. I love that the distressed details are tiny and just around the pockets, and that the length of the jeans doesn't have large rips or holes in it. These jeans fit like a dream, and they were the highlight of the box for me.

These jeans were such an automatic "keep" for me that I cut the tags off before even taking photos for this review! I also wore them out to a brewery this weekend, and they made me feel super cute. They retained their comfort level for several hours, and when I got home I felt like they still looked perfect - no saggy knees or having to pull up a stretched out waistband.

Textured Open Face Cardigan in Black Hunter Green, W. by Wantable - Retail Value $78.00 (return)

Next up is a long, duster-length cardigan in a textured dark green and black striped pattern. The material this cardigan is made out of is super stretchy and soft, and it was so cozy to wear. I love the cool two-toned colors here - from far away this looks like a basic black cardigan, but up close you can see the gorgeous green shining through. I thought that it fit really well, and I would have been head over heels for this cardigan except for the length. A cardi this long just isn't something that fits my personal style, and I knew I would never reach for this if it was in my closet. Unfortunately, this was a miss for me and I'll be returning this piece.

Here's a photo of the full outfit my stylist put together for me. I love the idea of easy layers for a casual outfit, so I'll try this look with a shorter cardigan that I already own!

Elbow V-Neck Dolman in Black, W. by Wantable - Retail Value $52.00 (keep)

Now, this is exactly my style of top to wear! This black dolman-sleeve knit top is pretty much my ideal type of shirt. I love a lightweight layer like this to wear to work, and it's deceptively comfy as well. This top fits me really well, and it's exactly the type of staple I love to have in my wardrobe. The sweater is a rayon/spandex/polyester blend, so it's very soft and stretchy (that seems to be the theme of my box this month!). A V-neck is my favorite type of neckline to wear, and this particular one is a great depth - it would be easy to layer a tank top underneath for more coverage for a workday, and it's just low enough to be a cute look for a date night. The above look I've put together (this sweater, the jeans, and ankle boots) is pretty much my go-to weekend look in the colder months, so this top was easily a "keep" for me.

The Emilia Top in Storm Blue, Z Supply - Retail Value $64.00 (return)

The next item is an aqua blue thermal knit sweatshirt top. I was wondering why my stylist sent this to me, as it's the opposite of business casual, but I guess everyone loves a good comfy top to lounge in, right? However, this was a miss for me, as it was too big and slouchy for me to feel like it was flattering at all. If I buy a top at the price point of $64.00, I want it to be something I feel confident when wearing it out of the house. While I loved the color of this top (and it was super cozy and comfy!), I didn't love the extra-long baggy sleeves or how distressed and worn-in the fabric already looked.

Floral Roll-Tab Brushed Knit Blouse in Green Floral, West Kei - Listed Value $58.00 (return) (similar found here)

This was the only item in the box that seemed to fit the business casual category I had asked for, and sadly it wasn't an item I wanted to keep. I thought the fit of this blouse was great - I love the length of the sleeves and also how the front of the blouse is gathered and the back is longer like a shirttail. It's definitely the type of cut I would typically go for in a work blouse, but I just didn't love the color or print here. When I was searching for this item on the Wantable website, I saw that they have this exact blouse, and many styles very similar, in way more appealing-to-me patterns, so I'm hopeful that I may receive something from this brand that I love in the future! The fabric is described as a "brushed knit," and it was oh-so-soft. It felt like soft, lightweight flannel.

Absolution High Rise Ankle Skinny in Black, Democracy - Retail Value $68.00 (return)

I really like the idea of these black jeans - they are designed to give you a flattering shape by the use of Lycra control panels in the top and sides. However, I felt like they weren't the right shape for me, or possibly I had the wrong size. I felt like I had a lot of extra material around my low hips in these pants - and the fabric had so much stretch that I could pull out a good 6" of fabric on either side of me. Also, I don't have a lot of occasions where I would wear black jeans, as they don't feel professional enough for me to wear for work, and on the weekends I'd rather wear blue jeans or leggings. Because of all of those things, I'll be returning these pants. However, I'm intrigued by this brand and hoping to try more from them in the future!

Finally, I couldn't help but share these photos with you! While I was taking photos for this review in my backyard, my cat snuck outside (bad kitty!) and wanted to be part of the photoshoot. It looks like she approves of my stylist's choices for me!

Verdict: I thoroughly enjoyed my first Wantable Style Edit box! I found three items that are going to be in heavy rotation in my wardrobe, and I'm excited that my stylist picked three great pieces of clothing (the jeans, the black sweater, and the white T-shirt) that go with my personal style so well. Although the other four items weren't exactly what I was looking for, I'm looking forward to how my feedback on these items improves my next box from Wantable.

To Wrap Up:

Cute review a bit over priced and surprised to see you holding a cat in a top you plan to return.

I wish Wantable would not send mostly their own brand of tops. They are extremely overpriced for the quality.

Krista, I honestly think you’d look cute in pretty much anything! You’re not just slim but on the tall side too, so I don’t think any piece could possibly look bad unless it’s just an ugly piece on it’s own.

Love that black sweater! It’s exactly the kind of top I like to buy. I agree about that last one. Personally I strongly prefer solid colors over most prints so while I like the style I could only imagine wearing it in black or a dark color, maybe a jewel tone.

Great review and even better kitty pics. Della is my new Cat Crush!

Thank you for your kind comment! I have been wearing that black sweater like crazy since I got it – it’s definitely been a staple for me! I’m with you on the solid/dark colors and jewel tones, so we will see what I get next month! 🙂

I miss the Wantable beauty boxes so much and Beauty DNA even more. :'(

I love Vigoss Jeans but those shirts you can find anywhere for a fraction of the cost. Definitely not in my budget to pay that much for clothing. Especially a basic white tee and a black shirt although very cute.

What’s her name? *just kidding about Krista and the box…..clothes looked great and Krista looks amazing!

I feel like MSA should feature a cat in each review.

But this was a great review even without the kitty. Thanks!

Haha, I love this! My two cats try their hardest to photobomb every time I’m taking pictures for reviews, so it seems like they agree! Thanks for the comment 🙂

Thank you! She is definitely a sweetheart! 🙂

Wow, I’m kind of surprised this box is still around! The retail prices of the clothes were always too high for what they were (IMO), but I did subscribe to the accessory & cosmetics boxes that got shut down.
