March 2020 BeautyFIX Review

This box comes with a booklet detailing each of the items included. We have 9 (!!!) different items this month, so strap in!

TULA Skincare 24-7 Moisture Hydrating Day & Night Cream, 0.5 fl oz - Estimated Value $15.29 (Buy a full-size 1.7 fl oz for $52.00)

I tend to like most TULA products and this lighter cream was no exception. It feels super fresh on my face and has an airy scent to match. Though it says it is a day and night cream, this is not quite heavy enough for me to enjoy in the evening, but saving it for daytime suits me just fine. A little goes a long way and the only thing I would change would be to include an SPF. It is full of probiotics and other skin-loving superfoods and leaves my face with a smoother texture.

Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Bod Buff Smoothing Scrub 'N' Mask, 0.5 fl oz - Estimated Value $2.31 (Buy a full-size 5.4 oz for $25.00)

I would be hard-pressed to think of a brand that feels more "summer" than Sol de Janeiro. The scent just makes me think of the beach and cold drinks! This is also one of those scents that I really like, even though I am typically averse to "tropical" smells. This sample is of a body scrub with that same intoxicating smell of the wildly popular Bum Bum Cream. As the weather slowly gets warmer, this product is perfect! I only managed to get one shower use out of this sample (I have a larger bum bum) but I loved the gentle but effective exfoliation and the scent. Since we are all likely finding ourselves at home more often, products like this feel like a nice escape, even if you aren't even leaving your bathroom.

Juice Beauty PHYTO-PIGMENTS Ultra-Natural Mascara, 0.3 oz - Full Size! Retail Value $24.00

I don't generally like Juice Beauty skincare, but I have tried some of their makeup items and do enjoy them significantly more. This mascara has a tart scent that reminds me of their other products, which was a little weird at first. This is the sort of mascara that gives a very natural lash look instead of lots of volume and length. I prefer this sort of coverage personally! It did add a little length, but mostly defined and coated each lash with a nice dark tint.

Sunday Riley ICE Ceramide Moisturizing Cream, 0.3 oz - Estimated Value $11.47 (Buy a full-size 1.7 oz for $65.00)

This is my second time sampling this cream, so I know a little goes a long way. That does make this tiny sample size feel a little better! I quite like this almond-scented cream and its heavier texture. My skin generally benefits from any ceramide product I have ever tried because ceramides help restore moisture and lipids to stressed out and dry skin.

Rahua Hydration Shampoo, 22 ml - Estimated Value $2.72 (Buy a full-size 275 ml for $34.00)

Rahua shampoo is one I really like, though I found this one lacking in that earthy scent I so often associate with this brand. This one was much more mainstream and "shampoo" smelling, which was a little it disappointing. As with everything I have ever tried from this brand though, the formula is great, and my hair felt super clean but still healthy after washing with this. This is a brand that always leaves my hair feeling healthier!

Rahua Hydration Conditioner, 22 ml - Estimated Value $2.88 (Buy a full-size 275 ml for $36.00)

Again, I miss the more unique fragrances from this brand! But, again, this formula was great. It felt like a treat for my dry strands and gave me a little extra bounce and shine.

skyn ICELAND Icelandic Youth Serum with Red Algae, 0.17 fl oz - Estimated Value $7.65 (Buy a full-size 1 fl oz for $45.00)

I read in our info guide that this serum is meant to help with redness, which is always a bonus for my ruddy face! This benefit comes from the red algae inside, which boasts antioxidants 6000 times stronger than vitamin C, which is kind of wild. It is a gel sort of formula with a reddish tint. I found on my face it absorbed in a snap and didn't leave much residue behind. I did notice redness reduction but didn't find this super moisturizing. I will be using it in tandem with a night cream!

Jane Iredale Just Kissed Lip and Cheek Stain in 'Forever Pink', 0.05 oz - Estimated Value $14.00 (Buy a full-size 0.1 oz for $28.00)

I feel like this is one of the OG color-changing lipsticks, and I still adore it. It feels super nourishing on my lips and also creates a delightful true pink that is sheer and natural. It is also useable as a cheek tint, though I love it so much on my lips I generally save it for that.

Here it is a few minutes after I applied!

First Aid Beauty Pure Skin Face Cleanser, 2 oz - Retail Value $11.00

Finally, our last item is a gentle face cleanser. There wasn't much of a scent here and the airy whipped texture feels quite nice on my stressed-out face. It did a really nice job of washing away dirt and a little makeup, though I haven't been wearing much lately. I usually double-cleanse my face and this is a perfect first cleansing step!

Verdict: This month's BeautyFIX has a value of $91.32 which is good for a $24.95 box. I thought the brands in this month's assortment were really great! I tend to really like TULA, Sol de Janeiro, and (of course) Sunday Riley. Some of the sizes were certainly on the smaller side, but the 2 full-size items did make up for this a little. I plan on utilizing everything in my box this month, which is always a good feeling!

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

Liked everything in this box BUT that mascara! 😥 And I’m not super picky with my mascara at all, I can generally make any mascara work if need be but I’ve never used one like this at all EVER… not sure if it’s the brush or just the product but I put more than 5 coats on each eye && still could hardly see it in my lashes. Horrible! And the Sol de Janeiro was pretty messy! I just used that on my elbows a few times. I love the smell but would never purchase that myself. Now Its almost time for April’s spoilers! 😊

I agree with you on the mascara. I was super excited to get a full size mascara since I’m out the beauty stores are closed with this COVID-19. I am not impressed with it. I had to put 10 coats on each lash and it still doesn’t do much.

Grocery stores are still open and most sell basic mascara if you really need it.

Sample sizes ugh! Ipsy gives a full size item usually and samples for $12 and Allure beauty box always has 1 or 2 full size products plus samples for $15 so 8 think this subscription is way overpriced maybe the spoilers will be better next month and They will have at least one full size product.

I have had both of those boxes and really disliked them! I cancelled all of my other subscriptions just for this one! I think it’s awesome!! Just my opinion!

The Sol de Janeiro was a complete mess in my shower. It smells great but stained my skin a horrible yellow color and gets literally everywhere in the shower.

Same here. I’m still finding mustard splotches in the weirdest spots in my shower :/.

Tired of small sizes.

It’s a pretty good box but this is basically the same price as the Ipsy Plus hmmm. I used to get this box a couple of years ago and back then it probably would have contained the full size mask. It seems they have really decreased their value and sizes.

Looks like a great box. I would enjoy most everything in it.

I love Beautyfix and I look forward to it every month, this months products were good, but the value of this box is not that great…..Beautyfix promises a value of over 100.00 for their box each month, and this month was only a little over 90.00…..I do not think I have ever seen the value of this box so low,I do hope hope that the April’s box value, will be where it is suppose to be.

You’re complaining about the missing $9 value. I’ve now seen it all. Just try enjoying the products.

I see this sort of comment of “just be happy with what you got” (which is less than it should be) a fair bit, and I have always been confused by it. So if anyone can enlighten me, that’d be great… I 100% understand and agree that these boxes are a great value, whether $25 for $100 worth of items, or $25 for $90 worth of items. Both are an awesome value and we get products we can enjoy. But if a business states that the buyer will receive $100+ worth of items for their $25, shouldn’t the buyer have a right to be upset if they only get $90 worth? It’s actually a breach of the buyer/seller contract by the seller if they provide less than what they state they will provide for the list cost. I mean, if you order a case of printer paper on sale, for example, and instead of 10 reams as advertised, you only get 9 reams of paper, are you supposed to be fine with that and be happy you at least got the 9 reams? I guess I just struggle to understand this concept of telling people to accept or even be happy with receiving less than what they were told they were getting, and less than what they paid for. I’ve only ever seen this concept in the sub box world. So if someone can help explain the “why” behind this, I’m all ears. Thanks.

Really? I now have seen it all, being catty for no reason at a time like this when we all need to be coming together… kindness is key right now, hope your day gets better.

Tina Ames

Steph I have a right to my opinion so don’t be rude, its more then 9.00,the box is usually 125.00 or more……I was not being rude and I aid I stilled love the box, there was no need for your comment, thank you and have a great day.

Rae

Shampoo and conditioner pics are switched 😉

Oh no! I hope everyone using the products at home can figure it out and not condition first! 😟

(🤣 ::spit take:: you owe me a diet coke!)

Box was worth it for the First Aid Beauty cleanser. PLENTY of product.

My skin broke out BAD from the serum – I had an allergic reaction to something in it, probably the red algae. Had issues with the TULA on my skin too. The Jane Iredale product was TINY but my mom ended up loving it. This box was half n half for me. I would purchase two of these products in full size for sure – First Aid and Sol de Janeiro

Looking forward to spoilers on April’s box… 🙂

I enjoyed this box but wasn’t blown away by anything. The Sol De Janeiro sample was mostly empty, and only had enough product to use on my calves. The shampoo and conditioner was single use, too. To be fair, I have a lot of hair.

Looking forward to next month’s box. :o)

Same here! I used the Sol de Janeiro on my elbows as the tube was big but there was hardly anything in it! The shampoo and conditioner was a single use. While I really liked the effect on my hair, I would need to use it twice to see if it was really that product or not.
