This month's BoxyCharm theme is called "Adore" and it's pretty pink card that was included fits the month of February perfectly. Let's not waste anytime and jump right into this month’s products.
Our very first product this month is from QMS MediCosmetics and this is a brand that I have never heard of before. During my research I learned that this product is an intensive eye care treatment for both day and night use. This eye cream has a multi-action formula that contains plenty of natural firming properties. It's a rich cream that is used to reduce fine lines, dark areas, and puffiness. It's also made for sensitive skin as well. I can't say that I own lots of eye creams so I'm excited to give this product a try. I used a small Q-tip to apply a tiny dab directly under each eye. This is one of those products that it takes more than one use in order to see a difference. However, I like how lightly and easily it applied to my eyes. It did not leave a greasy feel and absorbed quickly.
Since I did not receive an eye palette or a lip product this month, I will be creating a “no makeup” makeup look with the products I did receive. A “no makeup” makeup look is simply creating a natural-looking face with minimal products. I will be starting with the primer we received. This primer is from PUR Cosmetics and it's their 4 in 1 Correcting Energize & Rescue Primer. BoxyCharm has sent us plenty of products from this brand before but I believe that this is the first time we are getting a full primer. I absolutely love to try different primers and I can't wait to see how this one will perform. This particular primer has tons of ingredients such as probiotics, aloe, caffeine and coconut water. It's made to act as a beauty tonic that helps to create a smooth canvas before makeup application. It's also supposed to help improve the appearance of your skin by reducing redness and hydrating your skin.
I took a dime-sized amount and carefully smoothed the product into my skin. I love the smell and how non-greasy it feels. It also gave a nice and natural glow to my complexion. This seems like one of those products you can also wear alone and get great results. Since it does not have silicone in it, I noticed how it minimizes my pores instead of making them appear larger like some primers tend to do.
Our next product is from the brand Luxie and it's their Complete Sponge Set. This product came just in time because my current sponge is falling apart. I love how they come in different sizes and are all used for different things. Each sponge is latex-free, vegan, & cruelty-free as well. Since there is a sponge for detail, powder, and foundation I will be using each of them for their intended uses. I started with the smaller pink sponge for detailing.
I used this sponge to add my concealer. I applied a concealer under my eyes, and on all the dark spots I have. I love how small it is, making it super easy to get in those hard to reach areas: areas such as under the eyes, around my mouth and nose. This sponge applied and blended my concealer very well.
The next sponge was the brown sponge and I used it to apply my liquid BB cream. Since this is a very natural makeup look I decided to use a light BB cream with a small amount of coverage instead of a full-coverage foundation. I decided to wet the sponge a tiny bit in order to achieve streak-free blending with a slight dewy finish. The sponge did a great job of patting in the product and making it look very natural. I used the flat sides to blend and pat the BB cream all over my face. I used the angled tip to get into the small areas like the corners of my nose and jawline.
Here is how my face looks after adding both the concealer and BB cream with the first two sponges. I love how soft these sponges are and easy to hold. I will be using the last grey sponge later to add our next product.
Our next product is from Ciaté London and it's their Everyday Vacay Coconut Setting Powder. I'm glad we received a setting powder in this month's box because I never use foundation without setting it with some kind of setting powder afterward. This setting powder helps to lock in your makeup look, helping it last throughout the day. It has a coconut fragrance that is finely-milled making it a very lightweight and loose powder.
After filling in my brows, I took the final grey sponge and applied the powder with it. I normally like to use a big fluffy brush to add my setting powder but I wanted to test out the final sponge. It's firmer than the other sponges and applied the setting powder just fine. I love how using both the sponge and powder gave me a very smooth and flawless finish over my makeup. The coconut scent is pretty strong so if you can’t stand the smell of coconut, I would pass on this product. However, the strong scent did fade throughout the day.
Our final product is a beautiful black eyeliner from Kat Von D, now known as KVD Vegan Beauty. I have used their liners before so I know this product will apply beautifully. This is the Cake pencil liner and I received the color Trooper Black. These creamy eyeliners are super easy to use and glide the color right onto your eyes. They are waterproof, long-wearing and very rich in color. What I love about these liners the most is that they hardly ever smudge.
I will be adding this black shade liner to my lower lash line using a very light hand and a small amount of product. I don't want to add too much since this is a very light and minimal look. By using a light hand, I’m simply adding a little definition to my eyes and this is a great product to do that with.
To finalize my look I added one coat of black mascara, a tiny light sweep of blush to add a flush look to my skin and a clear lip gloss with a tiny bit of sheen to it. I hope you guys enjoyed my “no makeup” makeup look and found it easy to follow. It's super fun coming up with colorful makeup looks but more often than not, all I need is a simple look to get me through a regular day.
Verdict: The February BoxyCharm was different because we did not get an eyeshadow palette or a lip product, however, I love how we received practical products that are great for everyday use. If I had to choose a favorite product this month, it would be the primer because it looks good with and without makeup. I hope you guys enjoyed this month's makeup tutorial.
