Ipsy is a monthly beauty and makeup subscription box. Each month you get full-size or deluxe-sized products, plus a cute makeup bag.

This is one of Liz’s top recommendations if you are looking for a subscription box - the value and sample sizes are amazing. (Check out our list of the best beauty boxes for 2020 and our reviews of Cheap Subscription Boxes for more recommendations!)

(FYI – Just like Birchbox, Ipsy sends out many different variations of their bag each month – so my review is just one of the bag variations you might receive!)

My Ipsy Glam Bag March 2020 Review

cover of info booklet inside info and priducts back of info booklet

Included is a card detailing each of the items.

Each month, Ipsy subscribers get a makeup bag in addition to their items. This month happens to be the 100th Ipsy Glam Bag! It is decked out in silver studs and made of a teal, faux-leather body. The inside is neon green!

Hey Honey! RELAX! Propolis & Honey Soothing Cream, 15 ml - Estimated Value $9.00 (Buy the full-size 70 ml for $42.00)

I liked this moisturizer. It has a nice scent and utilizes propolis, honeysuckle, and aloe to smooth and calm skin. It felt really nice on my face and left a velvet finish which was perfect for makeup. Add sunscreen in it, and they would have a real winner!

Skone Cosmetics Brow Wand in 'Chocolate', 0.3 g - Full Size! Retail Value $20.00

I have been experimenting with different brow products lately, though I keep going back to the tinted gel + spoolie sort of deal. This is a wedge-shaped pencil in a soft minky brown. It took a little work to get it started, but once it warmed up it was really easy to apply on my brows with upward hair-like strokes. The spoolie on the other end is perfect for combing my brows into a natural shape and adding a softness to the whole look.

This is exactly the shade I would have chosen for myself.

The Saem Natural Shea Butter Mask Sheet Mask- Estimated Value $1.99

The Saem Natural Avocado Mask Sheet Mask - Retail Value $1.99

WFH means even more time for sheet masks! I have tried these specific ones before and I loved them. Both the avocado and the shea are super moisturizing to my dry skin and the masks fit well. The avocado specifically is my favorite of the pair because the milky serum feels so calming on my skin and certainly reduced redness.

Luxie Beauty Pro Precision Tapered Brush - Retail Value $23.00

I have a brush addiction and this cutie with a periwinkle handle is adorable! This is one of my favorite types of brushes because while the bristles are dense, the head flares out into this super fluffy finish, which is perfect for applying sheer layers of powder highlighter and blush. This synthetic brush will get lots of use in my kit.

tarte SEA Quench Hydrating Primer, 10 ml - Estimated Value $10.67 (Buy a full-size 30 ml for $32.00)

I seem to stumble across this particular primer quite often. While it isn't my favorite of all the options out there, I will say that it feels cooling on the skin and provides a noticeable moisture boost to skin, especially if it is dry like mine! It has a light coconut scent and really does help prolong the life of my makeup throughout the day.

Illamasqua Black Eyeliner

Our final item is a black eyeliner with a marker tip. This is another regular in my boxes and while it isn't that exciting, it does work really well, especially if you love a liner with loads of application control and a semi-waterproof finish.

Verdict: I quite liked my Ipsy Glam Bag this month, though not everything blew me away. I can always use more sheet masks and I happen to really like The Saem. It was nice to get two! I also loved the pretty periwinkle brush, Hey Honey! moisturizer, and the brow wand. I was less excited about the black eyeliner and the tarte primer because I feel like I see both of these items pretty frequently. This month still had a nice value (at least $66 even without the eyeliner) and I loved the bag to boot!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Possibly! As of publication, there was no Ipsy waitlist. Check here to see what month you’ll get first.

Good to Know: Ipsy sends out variations. You may get a completely different bag than me.

Value Breakdown: At $12 for this box, each of the 6 items (considering the pair of masks as one item and not including the makeup bag) has an average cost of $2.00.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

I will be getting (not yet delivered)
-LUXIE 640 Pro Precision Tapered Brush
-TARTE Sea Quench Hydrating Primer
-OFRA bronzer in Americano
-POLAAR Night cream
-HONEY JARRET Cream Whip cleanser
-PACIFICA BEAUTY Wild hemp eye shadow

This is my first bag and I like the makeup brush, night cream and whip cleanser.

The rest of them is like I always get from somewhere else especially the primer. I got the exact same thing with my Sephora Play this month. I wanted a highlighter and a eyebrow pencil… Not really super exciting even though it’s the first bag, but hopefully next month I get a better bag!

I hope you contacted them for a replacement. I sent an email through the site and was answered very quickly that, if you don’t receive it after 10 days from the expected tracking date, they will replace it. Mine has been stuck in SLC since 3/10!

Your Friends @MSA

Hi Kathy! According to the information on Ipsy’s site, you may check the tracking status of your bag by navigating to your bag timeline. Hope that helps!

Laura

Just how much primer are people putting on? How is a 10ml deluxe sample considered tiny? It’s 1/3rd of the retail size…even when using it daily, that should last at least a couple of weeks…a month…it’s WAY more than ‘just a cpl of uses’…I don’t use my products ultra sparingly, I don’t have a tiny face or something. I just don’t get it. I’ve been using the 4ml DS of Murad eye cream for the past month 2x a day and there’s still about 1/3rd of it remaining.

I really liked my bag this month. It was better than the past bags I have received and skipped for the month… I cant wait to see what next month offers

I get 2 bags and that’s the only subscriptions I can afford the next coming months with the virus. I work as a hairstylist and it’s bad they need to close the salons. I was so happy with both my bags and they really came at the right time. 😚❤

Bless you. I’ve thought about the hair stylists.

I have to say I am pretty happy with my bag this month except one item:
Tacha Dewy Skin Cream (my pick)
Awake lip mask – excited to try new lip mask
Rael sheet masks (set of 2) – I love masking, so these will get used
Skone Cosmetics Brow Wand in Peanut Butter – $20 full size and happy to receive brow product
Illamasqua eye liner – this is the only item I wish it was something else because I received eye liner in my last bag and also one in plus bag, lol
Sugar Cosmetics Mascara – not an exciting item but it will get used eventually

Add on
I am relatively new to Ipsy and this is my first time doing the add on since they gave us $2 credit. I got another Skone cosmetic Brow Wand in Chocolate color for $1 just in case the other color didn’t work and this is a full size product. I already liked the shape of pencil, so it was an easy pick.

I still don’t have my bag yet. 😭 I’m hoping it’s just because I have 5 add-ons since in almost 3 years with Ipsy I have thankfully always received my bag before the 16th. I am soooo crossing my fingers that both my pick of the Tatcha dewy cream, and add-on of the Tatcha water cream will both be in my bag since I know sometimes supply wise they end up running out of very popular products. I think this is the first time Ipsy has offered anything by Tatcha?

My bag will have (supposedly 🤞)

-Tatcha dewy cream (my pick)
-Yensa foundation
-that so exciting illamasqua eyeliner 😉
-Make-up forever foundation
-Foxybae hair mask
-Sugar cosmetics mascara

My add-ons

-Tatcha water cream
-Complex Culture eye brush
-Cake Beauty Curl cream
-Hey Honey gold mask
-Go-to face hero oil

Does anyone here have any feedback on any of the items in my glam bag that they have used before? (Besides the eyeliner, muf foundation, tatchas, and go-to oil)

I originally got the Go-To Oil in my Ipsy Plus awhile ago and OMG people that stuff AWESOME! It works for my combo on the drier side aging skin as well as one teen daughter with acne, and another teen daughter with very oily skin! I’ve purchased add-ons every time they offer it because of how much we love it.

I will receive the same primer when my bag arrives. There are so many variations of this bag, but I enjoy your reviews whether I’m getting any of those products 😂

I couldn’t use those sheet masks. The masks themselves felt like an itchy sweater to me.

Ashlea

That’s my favorite brow pencil. Super easy to use.

I love that Luxie brush. I got it several months ago in one of my Ipsy bags and use it all the time! I bought that Tarte primer as an add-on and was very shocked at how tiny it was, lol. Kind of mad I paid $3 for that.

Lynda

Same with the Benefit Primer. So, so tiny. Certainly not worth $3!

Victoria

The value is $10.67, how is that not worth $3?
