Walmart Beauty Box "Winter Wonders" Winter 2020 Review
When you sign up you will answer a series of questions such as your ethnicity, hair color, skin concerns, and a few other preferences. The answers are used to provide a more personalized experience so that they can tailor your box to you.
This little card highlights our theme of Winter Wonders, along with some info about reviewing the products and a link to a survey. My boxes have been a bit behind; I'm not sure if it's dependent on when you sign up, but just note that you might not know when this box will arrive exactly!
Color Club Nail Lacquer in Take it or Leaf It - Retail Value $5.00
Our first item is a full-size nail polish which is a great way to start this box! I think that this nude color is a great winter to spring transitional color, too. This color is called "Take it or Leaf It" and while that's what I linked to above, I think the color I received is much more similar to this color on the Walmart site. It definitely doesn't look purple to me. I thought the consistency of this formula was pretty good. I could get a nice opaque coat with one thick stroke, although I think it held up a bit better on the nails that I did two thinner coats on.
Sorry, I have zero nails as of right now, but hopefully, you can get a sense of the color here! I didn't use a base coat or top coat but I was happy with how well the polish held up!
Avena Hand and Body Lotion, 3.4 oz - Estimated Value $0.85 (Buy a full-size 17 oz. for $3.59 - this was currently out of stock at Walmart)
This lotion is a nice size at 3.4 ounces and the fragrance is fresh and maybe a bit floral? I wasn't a huge fan of the scent, but it did fade some as it absorbed into my skin. It took a little while to absorb into my hands but definitely left them softer although I didn't find the moisturizing effects to be as intense or long-lasting as I would like. This formula contains oatmeal and is recommended for all skin types.
Degree Women Ultraclear Dry Spray, 1 oz. - Estimated Value $1.31 (Buy a full size for $4.97)
This next item is a repeat from the fall box for me. I made the switch to natural deodorant awhile ago when I got pregnant with my first child and I am not someone who typically sweats much so I haven't tested this one out. Since I don't tend to need a strong deodorant, I don't think my experience would be a great indicator of how well it would hold up for others. It does have some great reviews though! The smell is nice, very fresh and light and it says it offers 48-hour protection.
NYX Makeup Crew Soft Matte Lipsticks in California - Estimated Value $12.00 (based on a similar set found here)
This next item is a cool concept! There are two mini tubes of soft matte lipstick in the same shade, although one is metallic and one is plain matte. Both of these formulas were super silky and smooth and felt weightless on my lips after drying quickly. The matte finish was barely noticeable and while it wasn't incredibly long-lasting, it wore down evenly.
Here they are swatched with the metallic shade at the bottom.
The matte color was nude with a hint of pink to it.
The metallic formula comes across a bit darker.
Here I have the matte with the metallic over top. It is a perfect balance of the two formulas and I like it better than either of the lippies by themselves!
Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelette, 1 wipe - Estimated Value $0.30 (Buy a pack of 25 for $4.97)
This last item is one I'm sure most have tried at some point. This is a single sample of Neutrogena's makeup remover wipes. This will be a nice item to throw in my travel toiletry bag or my purse in case I need it! It works pretty well to remove makeup, although I feel like it's not as gentle on the eyes as my Makeup Eraser, nor is it as environmentally friendly, of course. It will still do in a pinch, though!
Verdict: This was a pretty decent haul and a well-rounded mix of items this season! While the lotion and deodorant were misses for me, personally, and the Neutrogena wipe was just okay, I was happy to receive a set of two mini lipsticks and a full-size bottle of nail polish. Especially since they were all great colors and decent formulas! While I had a hard time estimating the value, I think this was a great deal for the $5.00 cost of shipping for this box!
