Allure Beauty Box April 2020 Review
A handy booklet has all the product info inside.
Thrive Causemetics Lip Liner in 'Kackie', 0.012 oz – Full Size! Retail Value $20.00
FYI: Subscribers will receive either this shade or one called 'Valisia'.
This is almost too brown for me, but it actually has enough pink to be pretty when used as a lipstick, especially topped off with a rosy gloss. It is also the perfect brown shade for a darker lined '90s look when combined with a nude gloss. This stuff has really great staying power and applied so smoothly.
Buttery smooth!
Eva NYC Man Magic 10-in-1 Primer, 1 fl oz - Estimated Value $2.00 (Buy a full-size 6 fl oz version for $11.99)
The scent of this brand's formulas takes be back to college in a really good way! I was obsessed with Eva NYC back then, and I still have mad love for this label. This spray is really great for those of us who like a little bit of a messier look, but still don't want to be frizzy. I like to apply to damp but towel-dried hair and finger comb it through. When my hair dried it looks much healthier and my flyaways are less wild. My natural wave is also enhanced by this spray, and I like to even spritz it on dry hair if the day is especially humid.
Lue by Jean Seo Balance Hydrating and Calming Serum, 1 fl oz - Full Size! Retail Value $15.00
So, I didn't love this product, but that is likely because I just need more moisture from a serum than this delivered. It has a super short ingredient list and no scent to speak of, and the texture feels a little slimy at first, then fantastic as it absorbs. My skin just seemed to feel exactly the same after it was fully absorbed and I like to notice some sort of difference when I use a product. I did see inside the info booklet that the editor mentioned she loved it for her oily skin, so maybe this just isn't for me!
AKAR Skin Balance Toner, 1 fl oz - Estimated Value $22.92 (Buy a full-size 2.4 fl oz for $55.00 )
Give me a sample of an expensive toner and I get SO excited. Add in some sort of fermentation concentrate inside? I am over the moon. A blend of neroli, rose, willow bark, radish root ferment, and saffron, this stuff smells herbal and earthy. Normally I like to mist toners onto my face to use just what I need, but for this, I put a few drops in my hands then pat my face between cleansing and moisturizing. How does something so thin and liquidy make my face feel immediately softer?
Primera Alpine Berry Water Cream, 5 ml - Estimated Value $4.00 (Buy a full-size 50 ml for $40.00)
FYI: Subscribers will this item OR a Purlisse Matcha Green Tear OR Watermelon Sheet Mask.
I have sampled this cream before and I love it! It smells like chamomile tea and is so soft and rich on my skin. It is one of those medium weights that I could use in the daytime or right before bed, making it very versatile if you prefer a more minimal routine. While this is a godsend for dry skin, I can only imagine anyone would love it because it just absorbs so well!
Ciaté London Dewy Stix, 0.17 oz. - Full size! Retail Value $26.00
Subscribers will either receive this item OR a mini coffret of Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb Perfume OR a Natasha Denona Mono Eye Shadow.
This is not a product I personally love, but it is one that I have gotten like 3-4 of in the last few months. I get the draw of this product: a dewy look without shimmer. I think my skin is just too textured and it makes me look a little shinier than dewy. It does look a lot nicer highlighting my collarbone though, I will say!
This is a harder product to photograph, but I wanted to try and show you the sheen.
Verdict: This Allure box has a total value of around $95.12 which is pretty awesome for a $15 box. This was a really well-rounded box, IMO! There was skincare, makeup, and hair goodies. If I had to pick a favorite, it would by far be that AKAR toner. SWOON! I also loved the lip pencil, water cream, and hair primer so much. Everything in here will either get used or gifted, so I am pretty happy!
