Bonjour Jolie March 2020 "Sugar Rush" Review
This month's Bonjour Jolie box theme is "Sugar Rush" and I was greeted by some bright and colorful designs when I first opened the box. They included this card which details all of the items we received this month.
Let's start with the goods. All of your menstrual products will come in a discreet bag that usually fits within our theme. This sprinkle bag was a cute one!
When you sign up, you can choose up to 20 different menstrual products in any combination of tampons, pads, and liners. They offer a great selection of items from brands like Always, Kotex, and OB. You can check their selection out before you commit though, in case you are someone who has a preferred brand.
You can change your selections at any time by editing your profile, but keep in mind there might be a delay if you need to switch up your needs each month. The ability to switch it up is what I really like about this box and the fact that you can try new things without committing to an entire box of products.
Seventh Generation Tampons, Regular (18) - Retail Value $6.99
This month I chose a mix of tampons and pads. I like that they have an organic cotton option now!
Seventh Generation Ultra-Thin Overnight Pads (5) - Buy 28 for $7.99
I ordered two pads, but it looks like I received a few extra ones this month!
GoodWipes Down There Wipes in Rosewater (2) - Buy 4 packs of 16 for $11.99
They send cleansing cloths like these each month which is nice because I have a great little stash for when I might need them to freshen up.
Advil To-Go Packs (2) – Buy 50 2-packs for $9.98
These little packets each have two pills, just enough to help with cramps or headaches while on the go.
Bang Beauty Blush in Plum – Retail Value $20.00
This blush is described as being a "sweet sugar plum" shade and I thought it was a great color! This blush does go on silky smooth and is very pigmented. I actually used too much the first time and had to wipe some of it off because it was so pigmented. This blush is cruelty- and gluten-free, too.
Here it is swatched with a heavier swipe at the top.
It gave me a nice flushed look and I think it will be a great color for summer when my skin has a bit more color to it.
Bomb Kisses Bath Bomb - Listed Value $6.00
This was a cute idea! It's a bath bomb in the shape of a chocolate kiss candy, although the scent is just a non-descript flowery (maybe musky?) bath product smell. This handmade bath bomb is another cruelty-free product. They provided a website, but it looks like it was a dead link. I do wish there were some ingredients or something listed on this since I am unable to locate it online.
Jolly Rancher Flavored Lip Balm in Watermelon - Listed Value $2.50 (Buy an 8 pack for $19.99)
Another fun idea! Watermelon is actually my favorite Jolly Rancher flavor so I was happy to see this lip balm which is something I'm sure I've tried at some point in my younger days!
All of our sweet treats came bundled in these two mesh bags.
Keebler Vanilla Sugar Wafers, 2.75 oz - Listed Value $1.00 (Buy a box of 12 for $13.81)
A whole pack of cookies is never a bad thing! These are the classic sugar wafers in vanilla flavor with 10 cookies in a pack.
Fruit Gushers, 1 pack - Listed Value $0.50 (Buy a box of 6 for $2.29)
Is it weird that I still love Gushers, even at my age? These were a fun throwback treat that I enjoyed!
Sour Patch Watermelon, 2 oz - Listed Value $0.75 (Buy a 30 oz. bag for $5.29)
My family loves Sour Patch Kids and I don't think we've had this kind before! They were really good, although not as sour as the originals!
Mentos Fruit Candies - Listed Value $1.00 (Buy a 15 pack for $13.38)
I love mint Mentos, but I haven't had the fruity ones in years! These were another nostalgic treat for me!
Kit Kats in Lemon Crisp, 4 miniatures - Estimated Value $0.45 (Buy a 9 oz pack for $3.59)
I love Kit Kats and I love lemon sweets, but I wasn't sure how I would like them together. These were pretty good-white chocolate with a hint of lemon. I don't think I'd choose them over traditional chocolate, but I would definitely eat these again!
Laffy Taffy, 4 pieces - Estimated Value $0.41 (Buy a 12 oz bag for $3.89)
The card lists Airheads, but instead, I received 4 pieces of Laffy Taffy. I'd have preferred the Airheads, but I'm good with taffy, too!
Jolly Ranchers Candies, 6 pieces - Estimated Value $0.19 (Buy a 60 oz bag for $8.98)
These are another candy I haven't had in a while! Yum!
Jolly Rancher and Starburst Drink Mixes, 2 each - Listed Value $2.00
Our drink this month came in the form of four little single packs of candy-flavored drink mixes. I received 2 Starbursts in All Pink Strawberry and Blue Raspberry and 2 Jolly Ranchers in Watermelon and Green Apple. I am really not into artificial sweeteners, they are just much too sweet for my palate, so I knew right away these probably weren't for me. They were definitely a cute idea and fit well within our theme though! I just have never had a desire to drink Starbursts or Jolly Ranchers!
I made a half glass of the strawberry Starburst drink to test it out and it was indeed much too sweet for me.
Verdict: This month's Bonjour Jolie theme was bright and cheery and full of sweetness. I thought it was a fun theme and since I have a sweet tooth, I could appreciate a delivery of sugar straight to my door! I was missing the salty snacks this month though, but that's probably because I'm in "quarantine snack" mode these days! I thought the Jolly Rancher lip balm and chocolate kiss bath bomb were super cute and the blush was a great color with a lot of pigment. Overall, this was another fun curation that I enjoyed. As for the total value of this box using a mix of listed and found retail values, I came up with about $43.99 which is great for a $24.48 ($16.50 + $0.99 tax + $6.99 shipping) box.
