Disney Princess Enchanted Collection "Merida" Review - March 2020
Before I get into the review, I wanted to share some information about the various frequency options since they are a bit different. They offer a box-to-box option as well as several prepaid options: quarterly, annual, or custom-scheduled boxes (minimum of two boxes). With the box-to-box plan, you receive a box every other month since it is shipped in 2-month cycles. For the pre-paid subscriptions they are as follows:
"For one-year subscriptions, boxes are delivered monthly. For quarterly subscriptions, one box is delivered every 3 months. For customized schedules, the purchaser selects the months to receive a box."
Just keep these in mind when choosing your subscriptions! If you know you'd like at least two boxes, it seems like the custom option is the best value and offers the most flexibility. Now let's get into the review!
When you sign up you get to choose your Princess from a few different options, which may be different from those listed above since they seem to rotate frequently. For subsequent shipments, you are only given a choice of three Princesses and those are not necessarily the same options you will have next time, so you may want to make sure you prioritize and choose your most favorite since you may not be offered that Princess again for awhile!
This month we had actually chosen Snow White, but they contacted us via email and told us that it was out of stock. They offered to let us skip a month, choose a new princess, or let them choose a new princess for us. We were pretty bummed, but we're hoping Snow White comes back in stock soon!

The magic begins with your box which is designed to match whichever Princess you are receiving and has a cute note reminding them to thank whoever sent them this box. This month we had some extra spots to color on the side with the image of Merida on one side and her brothers as bears on the other side. On the inside top of the box was a bullseye for us to play a fun coin flip game.

At the top of our box was a letter from Merida with a special assignment from her on the back. First, she asks your princess to come up with a tale about the last time they were brave to tell their friends. Second, she asks her to draw a picture of her family and try to make it look like a tapestry. The third assignment is to build a den of cushions and pretend you're a bear and answer some fun questions about what your life as a bear might be like. These are some fun activities and I love the way they relate to Princess Merida and the movie Brave. I also like that they highlight some important inner traits such as being brave and confident!
Princess Map
In our first box, we received this map and note from our Fairy Godmother. The map features shields in various locations, all of which mark where a different Princess is from. We get a coordinating sticker to add to our map with each new Princess.
My daughter can't wait to add each new shield to the map!

Merida Stickers
Each month they send a sheet of stickers that relate to the Princess and their movie. I think this is such a cute idea, but I wish the sheet was a bit bigger!

Little Golden Book: Brave - Retail Value $4.99
This month our storybook is the Little Golden Book version of Brave. This is a simplified version of the movie that includes illustrations instead of movie stills. I love that they bolded several of the more unique verbs throughout the story which will be great for expanding vocabulary!

Merida Costume, Size 7/8 - Retail Value $44.95
This dress is so pretty! I really love the deep teal color with the crushed velour bodice. There are braided gold strands and a fun plaid detail behind the brooch at the waist. The bottom features sparkly gold glitter which looks great against the deep green of the organza skirt. The details are really so nice! The glitter was a bit of a mess at first, but I didn't notice a trail around the house so it seems that the rest may remain intact. This is another high-quality princess dress!

How pretty is this dress? I love how long it is and how nicely all of the details look together. While we love the look, this is actually the first dress that we've received which my daughter declared to be too itchy. The little organza puffs on the sleeves have elastic in them which she is super sensitive to, so she went and put a shirt on underneath of this one. Since she is closer to a size 7, these are always a bit big on her anyway, so a long sleeve pajama shirt, while not the most flattering for the dress, still fit underneath comfortably for her. I love that the sleeves are pointed at the cuff and have that pretty little yellow ruffle. This would be a great Halloween dress since it seems to be a bit warmer than most!

Online Extras
Once you receive your box you will get an email notification about a video greeting from your Princess. You'll find this under the "messages" section of your account. These are such a cute way to make it feel extra special!
Additionally, you will receive a coupon for $10 off your next $50 purchase at shopDisney or Disney stores. The first time it took around a month for us to receive ours, but last time it took nearly two months, at which point I had definitely forgotten I was even supposed to receive this. It does expire about 2 months after you receive it.
The Verdict: My daughter gets so excited when her Disney Princess Enchanted Collection box arrives! Yes, this subscription is a bit pricey, but it is a perfect special occasion box for a little girl who loves princesses! While it is expensive, the quality of the dresses is always fantastic and they are really very pretty. They have a great amount of detail and usually, they are very comfortable. This month the sleeves were a bit of an issue for my daughter, but this was easily solved with a long sleeve shirt underneath. The retail value of our dress and book comes to $49.94 and this box costs $58.29 ($54.99 + tax). I think that extra $8 is fair for the excitement of the Princesses' video and written messages, the themed box with activities, and the sticker sheet! I have a hard time saying it holds up to the $65 promised value, but if you are someone who will make use of the $10 off coupon, the value may be there for you. Also, if you were able to commit long term to this one, you could really get a decent value!

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes, this Princess Merida box is still available, however, boxes are offered on a rotating basis, so it may not be available for your first box!
