Our Lumin delivery came with a little card highlighting their focus, goals, and a how-to for each product. Plus, all three products came in this super soft bag that is great for traveling or just safekeeping. I am writing this review based on my husband's testimonial for each product! He is always down to try new products if I give them to him, so this was a fun way for him to try new skincare!

Lumin Moisturizing Balm, 1.7 oz. - Retail Value $29 ($23.20 with subscription refills)
My husband has never used a face moisturizer, which is just crazy to me! The card notes that this balm should be used at night, but that you can apply it in the morning if extra hydration is needed (another thing that blows my mind since myself as a woman would drink my face moisturizer if it meant it would work faster). This balm's key ingredients are ginger extract, apple extract, and meadowfoam seed oil, all of which work together to protect your skin barrier, balance oil production, reduce aging, and even out your overall skin tone. My husband really loved this product and is going to continue using it at night! He said it felt really light, went on easily without feeling heavy or oily, and had a super fresh and clean scent. He has only used this balm a few times so far, but I could already tell that his skin is looking fresh and hydrated!

Lumin Exfoliating Rub, 1 oz. - Retail Value $16 ($12.80 with subscription refills)
I'll admit it, I was so excited after watching my husband try this product that I had to try it too! Wow, I am obsessed and so is my husband! Honestly, he asked me how many times a week he can use it because he loved the way it left his skin feeling (you can use it at night, 2 to 4 times a week FYI). To use, apply the rub to a clean and dry face, rub it in for 30 seconds until you feel the product "balling up" then rinse with water. This provided such a deep exfoliation I could see an instant brightness and clean look to my husband's skin. He said that it felt super clean and tight but in a good way, and he looked shiny in the best way possible. He has a lot of blackheads on his nose that I also noticed seemed clearer after only two uses of this scrub. He also tends to get a lot of ingrown hairs in his beard which Lumin mentions this is good for shaving irritation so hopefully it will help him with that! Some of the key ingredients in this scrub are charcoal, rosemary leaf extract, and green tea extract. I will say though, that considering these products come every two months, I don't think there is enough scrub in this jar to last him two months. Even if he only used it once a week, it looks like two months would be a stretch. Overall, I think this is an amazing product, I'm so excited that he is loving it so much, and he promised he will continue using it at least once a week! Yay for exfoliating to regenerate your skin!

Lumin Dark Circle Defense, 1 oz. - Retail Value $29 ($23.30 with subscription refills)
My husband has pretty bad dark circles and eye puffiness so he already uses an eye tone cream at night, but he was excited to give this a try! This cream works to minimize dark circles, puffiness, crows feet, and fine lines. Some of the main ingredients include caffeine which combats inflammation, lemon extract to improve uneven skin tone and vitamin B3 to strengthen. The instructions say to dab a little in your under-eye area each night before bed. This was probably the only product that my husband wouldn't want to order again only because he didn't like the texture. He said it felt really thick for an eye cream and left a gummy texture that he could still feel well into the next morning. He is going to keep using it, for now, to see if he gets used to it or if he starts to see results, but ultimately he wasn't loving the way it left his skin feeling.
Verdict: This was our first time receiving a box from Lumin, but I can safely say that it was a hit! For me, I absolutely loved the look and feel of the packaging; everything feels high-end yet masculine. I thought the information card was simple and to the point, which I know my husband appreciated because it was easy for me to read and know what to go and do. If you aren't used to using skincare products, looking at a lengthy information sheet could really seem daunting, but this was clean and simple for both of us to follow. I mean, the exfoliating rub was hands down the star in this set of products and will be something that I know my husband will keep up with. Why, you might wonder? It was so quick and easy for him to do, you only have to use it once a week, and it gave him instant results and gratification. The balm took him a bit more out of his comfort zone, but was also a big hit for him! I secretly hope he keeps using it because using a moisturizer is so important to use at least once a day to keep your skin hydrated and slow signs of aging.
This subscription is unique because once you subscribe, you receive that same set every two months. You can, of course, always go into your account to update your settings to receive a new set if you want. My husband said that he would want to try all sets before committing to that perfect ONE that he would love to receive every two months. I think for him, receiving products right to our door every two months is what would keep him using the products on a nightly basis. Wins all around! This set costs $60 or $48 if you subscribe and had a total retail value of $74. I think for skincare products, that is a really fair price and overall value. I know I spend WAY more on the products that I use and I blow through them month to month. I think this would make a great gift (Father's Day idea, anyone?) and even right now while we are all practicing social distancing and stay at home orders, this would make a thoughtful treat for that special someone or a dear friend in your life who might not be able to get out for products. Even if they aren't skincare product users, this is a great way to pamper right now and beyond!
