BoxyCharm Makeup Tutorial – May 2020

This month's theme is called Mother Nature and what better theme for this special month? I hope you guys had a wonderful Mother’s Day and with that said, let’s jump into this month's products!

Our very first product is from the Haus Laboratories. I learned that this just happens to be Lady Gaga’s makeup line, how interesting is that? I am not familiar with the brand and all that it has to offer, however, I love discovering new brands. This is their liquid Eye-Lie-Ner in the shade Punk. What a cute play on words. This is a charcoal black liquid eyeliner that will go with any eye look. It has a super fine flexible tip that makes working with liquid liners easy. I must admit that when it comes to using this type of liner, my hands are just not steady enough to pull it off. That does not mean I haven’t tried it a thousand times. This particular liner doesn't tug or snag your eyes which I hope will make it a lot easier to use.

I decided to create a very simple eye look using only one eyeshadow. I chose the shade Huckleberry by Ace Beautē. This shade is a purple shimmer shadow that looks good on any skin tone and will be sure to stand out. You guys can use whatever color you'd like for this simple eye look. Using a flat brush, I wet the tip of my brush with water and placed this shade on both lids going a bit above the crease area. After adding the color to both eyes, I reached for the liner. I decided to put this black liner across both the top and bottom lash lines. I did, however, mess up a few times, making my line uneven on one side. It's ok, if you mess up like me just put a little more of the eyeshadow color on top to cover it up and try again. Don’t feel bad because making mistakes is how we learn.

After adding the black liner, I used the same eyeshadow and highlighted the inner corners of my eyes for a more dramatic look.

Here is how my simple two-product eye look came out.

Our next product is from Trestique Cosmetics and it's their Cover + Concealer Crayon. This product is a creme that glides on with a smooth application, making it a lot easier to conceal and correct. It’s a full-coverage product with a lightweight feel. It's supposed to have a long-lasting effect as well. I received the shade Toffee, which is not a color I would normally use to conceal. However, it is the perfect shade to highlight with.

I placed this product between my eyes, down the bridge of my nose, and underneath both eyes. I simply love the fact that it's in an easy to hold crayon. It's so much easier to use this way instead of a runny liquid that goes everywhere. You can easily pop this product in your makeup bag and correct, conceal, or highlight on the go. I used a Beautyblender to blend the product out and I can't tell you how easily it blended into my skin. I’m definitely a new fan of this product.

After I blended in the product, I filled in my brows, added mascara, primer, and foundation to my face. Here is how the product looks under my foundation. You can see the highlighted areas, but not too much which is how it's supposed to look.

Our next product is from Appeal Cosmetics which we have received many times before from BoxyCharm. We received their Ultra Creme Liquid Lipstick. It's a creme lipstick that goes on with ease and lasts comfortably all day. These lipsticks also have a satin finish that is rich in color. 

I received the shade Naked, which is a nude shade. 

Here is how the shade looks alone. I decided that this color would look a whole lot better with a liner added to it.

Here is my final makeup look after adding my E.L.F. Berry Sorbet lip liner around the Naked lip color, (I chose this color to match my eye look) with tons of setting powder, blush, and highlight to the tip of my nose. I love the way this makeup look turned out, and I didn't use a ton of products to complete it.

Our next product is something I happen to love using. I can't tell you how much I love using micellar water to remove my makeup. I just recently got into using them these past few years and I’m so glad I discovered them. My go-to micellar water is Garnier SkinActive, a drug store product, however, I’m so excited to try a high-end version. We received the tarte Cosmetics Micellar Magic Makeup Remover & Cleanser. This product is very gentle and safe for all skin types. It removes all makeup including waterproof makeup. It also removes extra oil and impurities without stripping your skin of its healthy elements. 

I can't wait to test this product out for myself. Besides the gorgeous packaging, I love the fact that it comes with a pump. This makes the product a whole lot easier to use without wasting it.

I was shocked by how my makeup came off with pure ease. It removed absolutely everything including the stubborn shimmer eyeshadow and black eyeliner. My only complaint is that it's not very gentle when it comes to your eyes; other than that my skin felt amazingly clean and oil-free. I can absolutely see myself repurchasing this product, and I can definitely see why they use the word "magic!"

Our final product comes from the very popular brand GLAMGLOW. I received the BerryGlow Probiotic Recovery Face Mask. This is a moisturizing mask that is packed with super berries, probiotics, and other healthy things. It is made to help repair your skin and retain moisture. This superfood smoothie-like product is made to soothe, hydrate, and repair. It also has beetroot and hibiscus flowers. It's a very creamy formula like most of their products. It's supposed to add a healthy glow to your skin and that is the part I’m most excited about the most. Let’s give this a try, shall we?

The instructions say to add a thin layer to clean dry skin. Allow it to sit for ten minutes, then use a wet towel to remove it. There are tiny little beads throughout the product but you don't feel them on your face. It's super easy to apply and the scent is not too overwhelming which is a good thing. To be so light, it really packs a punch. It's super easy to apply and to remove.  

After I removed it my skin felt smooth, clean, and hydrated. My favorite part was the slight glow I saw to my skin. I can definitely see why they used the word "recovery" because that’s exactly what my skin felt like after using this, as if it had recovered. I have used many of the GLAMGLOW products but I'll be honest, this is the only one I saw immediate results from. This is the perfect mask to use after wearing makeup on my face all day long.

Verdict: BoxyCharm has really surprised me this year, and Mays's box is no different. Although I love receiving makeup, I simply love the fact that we are receiving more and more skincare products. It's one thing to throw on makeup and feel amazing, but it's even better when your skin is healthy. My favorite product this month was the micellar water hands down!
