Gwynnie Bee April 2020 Review
This review is for each of the three-at-a-time items I received April 15th, 2020:
Polka Dot Black Fit-And-Flare Dress by Smak Parlour, Size 2x — Retail Value $45
I am a sucker for a good collared dress, and this piece is no exception! I was concerned due to the product pic that this dress would be extremely short on me, but I tend to forget my 5'6" frame usually ends up being a non-issue in these scenarios! The dress fit well, had room in the arms even, and was an ideal length. The fabric has ample stretch too and is rather comfortable. You will have to make sure to either steam or iron the collar and sleeves on this dress because they wrinkle easily. This is a rather versatile piece-- I can envision wearing this out on a date with my boyfriend or when I eventually head back to the office. This dress is fantastic for all seasons too, which makes it an incredible value. I styled it with my favorite plastic flower power earrings and black open toe chunky heel sandals for Springtime weather. However, this would look great in the fall with a pair of mustard yellow tights and matching cardigan along with black booties. If you prefer something more refined, go for monochromatic black tights, heels, and cat eye glasses for something retro, yet sophisticated! Did I mention... IT HAS POCKETS!
Scallop Collar Gray Fit-And-Flare Dress by eShakti, Size 20w — Retail Value $47.50
Another killer collared dress, this time featuring an ultra-unique scalloped design! This dress has even more of an authentic vintage feel to me than the other collared dress. The heather grey material is a bit sturdier, but has loads of stretch. This dress is a wee bit longer in length, which will definitely make it work appropriate. Another feature it has like the dress prior is... POCKETS! Two cute dresses in a row with pockets-- wowee! I opted to pair this dress with horn-rimmed glasses and saddle shoes to bring out more of the retro aesthetic. Wear this in the fall with black flats and your favorite cardigan for a cozy, vintage-inspired look!
Belted Maxi Dress by Donna Morgan, Size 20w — Retail Value $73.50, Purchased for $14 during 60% off sale + $15 off Gwynnie Bee Coupon
With the quarantine and working from home for both jobs, I have been wearing a lot of caftans and muumuus! Right now we all want comfort and ease, but I also like my loungewear to have a touch of glamour (shocking, I know). One muumuu I have been wearing a lot is one I actually reviewed for CHC Vintage back in February of 2019! I have been scouring the internet for plus size pieces reminiscent of what Mrs. Roper wore on Three's Company. Her caftan collection is GOALS. It has become a daily eBay, Amazon, and Etsy quest, I tell you! When this piece came in my month's box, I felt as though the internet goddesses heard my requests-- it was kismet!
This dress fits the styles of sitcom TV women of yore like Mrs. Roper, Endora from Bewitched, and Naomi Oates Harper of Mama's Family! This isn't a caftan or a muumuu, but it does provide the length and comfort I so love right now! In addition, this maxi dress has all my favorite color palette of warm yellows, oranges, and rusts! This maxi is made by a designer I have reviewed in the past that I love too: Donna Morgan! I actually reviewed another beautiful retro piece by this brand in a Gwynnie Bee review back in January! On top of all of this, Gwynnie Bee was offering a 60% off sale on in-home items and I had a $15 points coupon. I ended up paying $14 for this dress. I still cannot believe my good fortune!
The '60s and '70s are alive in this groovy dress, so I opted to style it with vintage orange acrylic hoop earrings, yellow glitter glasses from Wherelight.com, and orange jellies. This piece is perfect to wear to lounge in, but also for a date to walk along the beach at night (while being socially distant, of course!) or to relax with a Mai Tai in your back yard after a long day!
Verdict: Gwynnie Bee was the first subscription box I reviewed for My Subscription Addiction and remains one of my favorites! Things have been a tad strange lately, eh? We have a new normal we are adjusting to where we are at home the majority of the time. The only places I go these days are my local grocery and drugstore every few weeks. I am fortunate to still be working from home for both my jobs, thank goodness. Though I don't go to a traditional office, I do like to mix things up at least once a week from my usual caftans or loungewear. It provides some normalcy from my old routines. Gwynnie Bee has truly become a fun surprise for me during this period. Since the mall is out of the question, being able to have pieces I closeted sent to me at random is a thrill! I enjoy getting new clothes to try on and wear without the commitment to buy, especially since I am on a stricter budget these days. I did buy a piece this month, the retro Donna Morgan dress-- but could you blame me? The receipt from Gwynnie Bee indicated the retail price was $135, their member price was $73.50, and with the 60% off and my $15 off (6,000 rewards points) coupon I got the dress for $14! Gwynnie Bee truly offers so many sales and incentives on top of their rental pieces being strongly discounted-- it is a killer value and a no brainer! I cannot recommend Gwynnie Bee enough-- especially since your first month is 50% off!
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes! All three pieces are available to rent or purchase.

Value Breakdown: Gwynnie Bee’s costs range depending on your subscription and how many items you are sent at a time. I have the $95 three-item-at-a-time plan. This includes free shipping and returns. I can get as many pieces as I like monthly, as long as I return each item first. I got three items this month. The three items total up to $166, which is $71 more than my monthly subscription fee! That is a heck of a value, but imagine if had I returned these pieces and received even more! Wow!
