Laurel & Reed April 2020 Review
There's a card that simply states all of the things you can expect from the subscription and another info card that features a photo of a woman near the ocean on one side with the items clearly listed out with retail prices and short descriptions on the other.
PLANT Apothecary WAKEY WAKEY Organic Body Wash, 9.5 oz. - Retail Value $20.00
I simply adore PLANT Apothecary, especially appreciate their body washes. This rosemary & lemongrass variation is such a lovely combination since I really like the way both of them smell. Over the years, I've received several different products from this brand in various clean beauty boxes but this is the first time I've gotten a full-size body wash of theirs. It's refreshing and made with just eight natural ingredients. A new favorite!
Céla Exfoliating Mitt - Retail Value $12.00
Marne is my name and exfoliation is my game. I won't lie to you- this mitt really gets down to business. The first time I used it, I applied the PLANT Apothecary body wash to it first to use as a cleaning mitt for double duty, but I found that I prefer to use this on its own to do exfoliation separately from cleansing. It has quite a bit of scrubbing power to it, so I wouldn't suggest using it anywhere delicate like the face or chest unless you find it completely necessary. For me- this is perfect for sloughing away dry dead skin from my legs, the back of my arms, and as always, my bum. At first I thought it was odd that they made this in black- but then I noticed that the color makes seeing the skin it scrubs away more easily which is gross and delightful at the same time. I'm only going to use this once a week as directed so as not to over-exfoliate and potentially harm my skin, but so far it's made my skin more soft and luminous.
Wabi-Sabi Botanicals Valley of Light Illuminative 3-in-1 Facial Mask & Exfoliant, 60 g - Retail Value $34.00
I miss non-sheet masks so much! I've been trying to redistribute my beauty wealth as well as get through so many other products I need to review, so any past powder masks in my possession have been overlooked for too long. I really love discovering new masks and using my special little bowl to mix them so this was such a delight to see in the box this month. Wabi-Sabi is not only fun to say but is a maker of beautiful luxury clean beauty that I've received via subscription boxes before. This Valley of Light mask looks a lot like cocoa because it contains volcanic Balinese cacao as well as an adaptogenic mushroom complex and a slew of other gorgeous natural ingredients to brighten the skin. I mixed the powder with tiny amounts of water (honey is also suggested) until I got to a medium spreadable paste that I spread on with a facial brush. After about 15 minutes, the deep brown mask dried to a lighter brown and I removed it with a warm washcloth. My face looks and feels amazing after this mask and I feel like it also helped draw a blemish to the surface that I could feel hiding which should hurry its cycle and usher it out more quickly.
Mukti Organics Vitamin Booster Vital A Elixir, 30 mL - Retail Value $91.00
How fun to receive a new Mukti item right after getting a couple in another clean beauty box last month. I love it when things work out harmoniously! This Vital A Elixir boasts a beautiful bright yellow color that smells just as nice with rosehip, bergamot, and rosemary. Including apricot kernel oil, tomato extract, and vitamin A, there are plenty of natural ingredients here to make my skin bright and luminous - and it DOES. The directions have me use this at night after I've properly cleansed my skin. I take a few drops from the dropper onto my fingertips, spread it against the length of my fingers and palms, and then press it against my face and neck. It feels slightly sticky until it absorbs but my skin looks and feels so nice before my head hits the pillow. I'm excited to use this along with my other Mukti goodies to get the full experience!
The Verdict: This month Laurel & Reed sent four products that didn't fall short of wowing me. A little something for every part of my body, I got not only body wash but also an exfoliating mitt. I got not only a serum but also a wonderful powdered mask. Per usual, each one brings luxury to the box and delights me as I try each out. Laurel & Reed is most certainly one of my favorite beauty boxes to discover new clean products and always has a wonderful curation. The four items included have a value of $157 which is $100 over the cost of the box.
