The Vegancuts Beauty Box is a monthly beauty and makeup subscription box. All of their products are vegan (and they tend to be natural, too). They also typically include a nice mix of full-size and sample beauty items. Vegancuts also offers a monthly Snack Box and quarterly Makeup Box.
This review is of the $22.95 a month Vegancuts Beauty Box.
Vegancuts sends a single package to subscribers who get both the beauty and snack boxes. The beauty items are separated into a little bag, which looks like more of an environmentally-friendly material than the old bags. (If you do not get the snack box, I don’t think you get the little bag.)
This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Vegancuts Beauty Box May 2020 Review
The Vegancuts Beauty Box usually contains a variety of hair care, skincare, and bath and body products. There’s often one makeup product, as well.
The box came with this information card. I like the animal pictures they have been using lately.
sf. The Pore-Fect Strip - Retail Value $4
This is a new brand for me. I have combination skin with an oily T-zone and my nose is a trouble spot. A lot of times, I can't really get items like this to work (they show up in K-beauty boxes from time to time) but I definitely noticed a difference after using this one. A lot of times my face will get oily during the day and my glasses will start sliding down my nose (I have contacts but they are dailies and I can't go to the eye doctor to get more at the moment, so glasses it is), but that didn't really happen the day I used this. At $4, it may not be practical for daily use, but it was useful the day I tried it, for sure.
Derma E Vitamin E Fragrance-Free Therapeutic Shea Body Lotion (8 oz) - Retail Value $12.95
I love about 95% of Derma E products I have tried, and some I buy over and over again. I shaved my legs for the first time in two months (I am so lazy while working from home) before trying this and it really offered a nice after-shave experience. My skin was super smooth and soft into the next day and even though I sometimes have reactions to body lotions, the lack of fragrances and dyes in this meant no irritation. Sometimes fragrance-free products have an odd smell (just the ingredients, I suppose) but this did not. I am a fan.
Dr. Botanicals Cocoa and Coconut Superfood Reviving Hydrating Mask (30 mL) - Retail Value $10.99
This brand has shown up in the Vegancuts Beauty Box before, also a mask. I note that the outer box and the tube have contradictory directions, with one saying to wash off after a few minutes and the other one saying to just leave it on all night. Based on the consistency, I opted to leave it on all night (not sure it could be washed off, honestly). This was a lovely, hydrating sleep mask, basically, and although it allegedly has cocoa and coconut, it wasn't strongly fragranced. (As an aside, I think the "Co" is funny -- as a chemist, it makes me think of cobalt, which isn't something I'd want to put on my face, but better than the "Po" of the pomegranate mask, which reminds me of polonium, which is even worse. Maybe brands shouldn't use things that look "sciency" without actually checking up on them first?) Anyway, this will be nice for using a few times a week, I think.
Mahina Beaute Turn on the Light Face Serum (0.33 oz) - Estimated Value $15.51 (Buy 1 oz for $47)
This has lots of antioxidants from sea buckthorn, rose, and blood orange, and I do like antioxidants in my skincare (they may help fight free radical damage, although you should also use a good sunscreen). This also has a great consistency, it's not too oily, so it's definitely compatible with my skin type. And if you are short on time, it's pretty moisturizing. But we have to talk about "Orbitally Rearranged Monoatomic Element" which is listed in the ingredients. Yeah, nope. Not meaningful, scientifically, in the least. If you would like to know more, please read this post, which nicely sums up all the claims about this substance and why they're meaningless. I will keep using the product because it has worked well with my skin, but there is no such thing as a "spirit-driven product that will lovingly embrace you with high vibrational energy" (language direct from the manufacturer's website).
Crazy Rumors Lip Balm (0.15 oz) - Retail Value $3.79
This brand shows up every now and then in the Vegancuts Beauty Box. They're great for vegan lip balms in that they last a long time, don't get grainy when stored at room temperature, and have nice flavors that really remind me of what the package label says. Several flavors were possible this month. I am not going to put this on my face for highlights as the information card suggests (!) but I have recently used up a few lip balms so this came at a good time.
Verdict: I calculated a value of about $47.24 for this month’s Vegancuts Beauty Box. Although that is not the highest value I've ever seen for this subscription, for me, personally, it is one of the better boxes lately. Every single item worked for me and it was a nice mix of useful everyday items (lip balm, body lotion, serum), occasional use items (mask), and single-use fun thins to try (pore strip). Also everything seemed good for sensitive skin. And honestly, I am not missing makeup from this box because I haven't worn makeup since March 13 (my last day in the office before working from home). Skincare is what I need right now.
