BarkBox is a reader-favorite monthly subscription box for dogs.
BarkBox customizes your box to your dog’s size. For reference, this review is for the medium size, which is recommended for dogs 20-50 lbs. We recently changed the size because Tucker, our Standard Poodle, is the most playful pup in the house when it comes to toys.
FYI: Two of my dogs are quite old! Piper (the minpin) has to eat soft food and has trouble with hard treats. Charlie is a pug, and a glutton who will eat LITERALLY anything. They both still really enjoy toys, though it has been years since either of them managed to destroy anything.
If you have a younger pup or just one who needs toys of the rough and tumble variety, I highly recommend trying the Super Chewer subscription (read our reviews to learn more!).
My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

May 2020 BarkBox "SCOOB!" Review
The details behind our items this month were printed inside, on the box lining.
The May box included 2 toys, 2 bags of treats, and a chew - this is close to what you can expect with your monthly subscription, though it does vary for everyone once in a while.
A lot of these items are marked as 'Sold Out' on the BarkBox app - but they have a little 'As Seen In BarkBox' section of the BarkShop where you can grab items featured in monthly themes.
Scooby Snacks Lamb with Chamomile & Lavender Recipe Treats, 4.5 oz - Retail Value $5.00
I am SO stoked this month is Scooby-Doo themed! I loved Scoob and the gang as a kid. It's so nostalgic for me and now my own pups can enjoy their very own Scooby Snacks! These are a lamb recipe but have the unexpected addition of lavender and chamomile! I thought this would be totally weird (and it is) but in a really great way! You can absolutely smell the lavender and the dogs loved these unusual treats. These were small enough to use as training treats for Tucker, too.
Scooby Snacks Peanut Butter with Blueberries & Vanilla Treats, 4.5 oz - Retail Value $5.00
In another unexpected combo, these peanut butter treats were combined with vanilla and berries for what is essentially a treat I would probably eat if I were a dog. My pups are nuts for peanut butter and Charlie tends to love sweeter things, so these were another win. They were also soft-baked, which Piper greatly appreciated!
SCOOB! Toy
I am almost as obsessed with this Scooby as Tucker is! He is so well done! In addition to his velvety and soft exterior, he is filled with crinkle AND a disc squeaker. Tucker looks so cute cuddling him and nibbling.
Tucker is a Scooby fan too, apparently.
He is also the most gentle when taking anything from my hand, even an irresistible Scooby-Doo head.
He took his new friend back to his favorite chair and had a really fun time chewing and creating lots of crinkle and squeak noises. I think Tuck especially liked this toy because it had little ears and a tail to chew on.
Mystery Machine Toy
I am so thrilled with this Mystery Machine toy. It is faithful to the original and features thoughtful and detailed embroidery all over. True, I care about this a lot more than the dogs, but the BarkBox team's attention to detail is always incredible. Inside, there is loads of crinkle and a very loud squeaker.
Charlie chose this toy first, but we had been out in the yard all afternoon and he was pretty tired. He absolutely loved crinkle and this toy has TONS inside.
After Charlie fell asleep mid-squeak, Piper snuck in to steal the Mystery Machine. She doesn't play with toys all that often anymore, but I think she liked this one because the stuffing was soft enough inside that she could get her gums around it and make some noise with the squeaker.
Scooby Snacks Peanuty Buttery Recipe Dog Treat with Carob - Retail Value $3.00
This might be Tucker's favorite secret snack of all time. It is super hard but chewy, and lasted him longer than the chews usually do.
Verdict: This was one of my favorite BarkBox assortments EVER. As a huge Scooby-Doo fan, it was charming and nostalgic, and as high quality and tasty for the pups as ever. Both of the boys absolutely adored the toys and treats and I am very happy that one bag was soft enough for toothless Piper to also partake in. This box brings us a lot of joy at my house, and this month seemed to have just a little extra indeed.
