Birchbox July 2020 – Sample Choice + Curated Boxes Spoilers!

So annoyed – subbed just so I could get the refinery x kit and it’s showing as sold out – on top of that, they are selling it for $38 (in stock – made it to check out to make sure). So, they actually HAVE these kits available, but aren’t allowing subscribers more than an allotted amount (which couldn’t have been many as they are oos). So now I’m on the hook for $48 (tax) and am feeling that all I have to look forward to is left overs every month. Meh.

I really like the refinery kit, but when I looked up all the products they really are created for women of color. The Clean Beauty kit shows the R&Co product in the picture, but then it doesn’t appear in the product breakdown, which means it’s not included. I’m not a self tanner and the other stuff didn’t appeal to me in the favorites box. So back to individual choices I went.

After researching those items, I already have the Sand & Skye, not interested in the Arrow blush, so I went for the FLOSS shadow – seems like it will make a nice eye shadow base.

Everything is available now, you have to use the app. I was on the page on safari and it still shows sold out so choice is only working in the app.

Its 2 am central time on the 26th and they are sold out of all curated boxes? That seriously better be a website error. Did they open it up at midnight or something?

And,… I can’t decide. I want both curated. I won’t use too much of the Refinery Box but it’s an awesome choice for others.

For anyone interested in the Clean Box: BB got back to me and all 4 TirTir toner packets are included in the box.

I’m going for the Clean box! It’s right up my ally and loving all the face/ shower products. I just stocked up on makeup by buying the Tarte beauty bag. And, I already own the MAC lipstick from the refinery kit. So, I’m more interested in skin care, shower stuff at the moment. I emailed Birchbox today to find out if all four TirTir toning packets are included or if each box will only have one toner packet from the collection. I’m also curious why an officer sneak peak email explaining the products didn’t go out. If it wasn’t for MSA I wouldn’t know what the heck the R&Co product was… since, it’s not listed on Birchbox’s website under list of products.

I am aiming for the Refinery Kit as I haven’t tried some of the skincare brands and the value is definitely there. If the highlighter doesn’t work as a highlighter, I will use as eye shadow. My only concern is the MAC lipstick… It looks pretty dark and hope it is a dark berry color and can use it as a stain.

Why WOULDN’T you swap out your box for the kit with a full size MAC lipstick among other great items? Seems so unbalanced.

I cancelled my subscription a few months ago and I don’t miss it. It was disappointing that every time I went to select my pick, the curated ones were already sold out. This happened several times and a few times it was within an hour or two of them going up online. I have enjoyed ipsy and boxycharm a lot more!!

FYI -Bondi Sands Self Tanning Foam is EXCELLENT stuff you can buy at Walgreens also, they have sales alot. I bought the light to med. color tanning foam and it comes out brown and you can see where you apply no streaks good stuff. They also have prep before tan I haven’t tried yet.
