This month's BoxyCharm theme is called "The Oasis." Lately, BoxyCharm has been giving us more skincare products, and I’m loving it! Let’s jump right in and see what they have in this month's box.
Our first product is from First Aid Beauty and it's their KP Bump Eraser Body Scrub with 10% AHA. This scrub helps to exfoliate your skin in a gentle way. It sheds dead skin and reveals healthier-looking skin after one use. It uses glycolic and lactic acids which help to loosen your skin’s top layer. It also has pumice buffing beads that help to cleanse pores. It acts as a chemical peel and microdermabrasion all in one product. I have tried many microdermabrasion products for my face but never for the rest of my body so I’m super excited to give this product a try.
I used this product in the shower after cleansing my skin. You can definitely feel those pumice buffing beads on your skin. I worked the product into small circular motions and rinsed it off. I like how the beads easily rinse away with warm water. I have used products in the past that were very difficult to remove. I felt an immediate softness to my skin after it was removed. Although I don't suffer from KP bumps I found this product great for shedding dead skin cells. A little bit goes a long way and I can see myself reaching for this product again and again.
I was super excited to see our next product. We received the Kylie Skin by Kylie Jenner foaming face wash and right off the top, I’m in love with the cute packaging. I think anything in pink has a way of drawing me in. I knew that Kylie Jenner had a makeup line but I was unaware that she also has a skincare line so this was exciting news. This foaming face wash is infused with ultra-nourishing kiwi seed oil and is also packed with vitamins C and E. It's supposed to help maintain moisture while improving your skin's elasticity. This product is gentle on any skin type while also cleansing dirt, oil, and makeup. I recently found out that I am expecting my second child and the hormones are wreaking havoc on my face. My skin is full of blotches and breakouts, so I could use a little TLC.
I wet my face with warm water and pumped the product a few times. The product itself is light and fluffy and smells very clean and pure.
I love how it foams and feels so light on my face. I found it super easy to lather and I gently massaged the product into my skin. One or two pumps is all you need to cleanse your entire face so try not to waste the product.
After rinsing it off with warm water and patting my skin dry, I noticed an immediate brightening effect that I did not expect. My favorite part is the smell and how clean my skin feels. BoxyCharm definitely hit gold with this one and I will certainly be using this on a daily basis.
With our next product, we will be creating a very simple eye look. We received the Laura Geller Multitasking Cream to Powder Trio. I received the nude palette. These three shades are made up of two different finishes: a demi-matte and a subtle shimmer. All shades can be used in different ways including lips, eyes, and face. Let’s get started with the shade “Coconut Grove.” It's a dark tan shade that we will be placing all over the lid and slightly above the crease. I found that patting the product in is better than swiping.
Here is that shade alone
Next I placed the shade “Tuscan Coral” on my finger and placed it in the center of my eye.
Our final step is to take a small flat brush and the final shade “ Gold Dust” and place it under our brow to highlight the area. I’m sorry you can barely see the color here.
Here is the final look after filling in my brows and adding primer and foundation to my face. In my honest opinion, this product was hard to use as eyeshadow. Due to the wet consistency of the shades, I found it hard to apply, blend, and maintain. I also had problems with the product staying in place as I tried to work with them. I found myself adding more and more product because it would not stay put on my eyes.
Then I added “Tuscan Coral” for blush and “Gold Dust” for highlighter. I placed the highlighter on the tip of my nose and on my cheekbones. Although I may never use this product for eyeshadow again, I love how this product works on my face. It easily blends in for that subtle glow. I will also be testing each color on my lips at a later date.
Our next product is mascara from the brand Lilly Lashes. It's their Triple X Mascara in the color black. I have never heard of this brand before so I had to do a little research on this product. I found that this particular waterproof mascara is popular for its extra volumizing, lengthening, and boldness. It's known for giving a false lash look from a bottle. It has a tapered wand that helps to add more definition to your lashes.
I used two coats and then I added black eyeliner to the top and bottom of my lash line for a more dramatic look to my eyes. I must say that I simply love the formula in this mascara. I have tried tons of mascaras from the drugstore to top brands. This mascara is the first one that actually lives up to its claims. I found that it added lots of length, volume, and boldness to my stubby lashes. You don't need many coats in order to achieve great length or volume. I was super surprised at the amazing quality of this simple mascara.
Here is how my lashes look after adding two coats. The brush also makes it easy to get your bottom lashes as well. I have worn this for hours now and there has been no running or flaking. This mascara is going directly into my handbag for on the go use.
Our final product is from KAB Cosmetics. It's their Lip Duo and I received the shade "Charming."
It is a rose shade with hints of red. This lip duo is a high shining gloss with a lovely vanilla scent and a liner pencil. You can use the liner and the gloss together or each on their own.
I decided to use them together and I love how easily the product glided onto my lips without becoming too sticky. The liner really brings out the shade and helps to create a bolder look. I didn't think the shade looked good at a glance but now that I’m wearing it, I think it looks great and helps to complete this simple makeup look.
Verdict: I thought this month's BoxyCharm was a very interesting one. If I had to choose a favorite item it would have to be the foaming face wash. As always, I look forward to hearing from you guys and your opinion on this month's BoxyCharm.
