Gwynnie Bee May 2020 Review
This review is for each of the three-at-a-time items I received May 13th, 2020:
Clock Print Rose Dress by Unique Vintage x GB, Size 2x — Retail Value $42
I constantly peruse the Unique Vintage site, but have never purchased a piece. I have heard many positive reviews, but years ago I heard their pieces had sizing issues. When I saw this dress, I felt it was an ideal time to try out the brand. I must say, I am overall impressed. The cut of this dress is immensely flattering and the fabric is incredibly soft. Did I mention how comfortable it is, too? However, I am not keen on the color of the dress or the print. I do find the print incredibly ironic, though, since the last couple of months have made me truly believe that time is a social construct. I would love to see a black version of this dress with white detailing at the neckline and arms or a different print altogether.
Fruit Print and Flare Dress by EVA ROSE, Size 2x — Retail Value $5.50
Well, if this dress isn't the epitome of a summer picnic, I don't know what is! I really had low expectations for this dress, but I was pleased to see how cute it looks on in person! My photographer for the day (AKA my boyfriend) loved this dress also! The fabric feels like a thick denim, but with loads of stretch. For optimum summer vibes, I styled this piece with retro, oversized yellow sunglasses and orange jelly shoes. For those cooler summer nights, just pair with a red cardigan or denim jacket. Did I happen to mention... IT HAS POCKETS! The price tag was an unreal $5.50-- yes, you read that right--FIVE DOLLARS AND FIFTY CENTS! I almost kept it because it was a true steal, but decided to send it back since I have a similar fruit-themed dress already! Have at it, babes!
Draped Color Block Edge Cardigan by Anne Klein, Size 0x/1x — Retail Value $37.50
When I saw that this cardigan was sent to me, I was a bit surprised. Certainly, the weather was still rather chilly at instances in May (it snowed on the first or second weekend here, no joke), but this cardigan wasn't fitting my spring aesthetic. I want bright, vivid colors and prints right now and this cardigan is not cutting the mustard! However, this would be a great fall item. I love the cut of the cardigan and how the red, tan, and black stripes on the edge create a wonderful geometric design. I paired it with a dress from an upcoming ShoeDazzle review, but imagine this chic statement piece paired in the fall with a white T-shirt, high waisted black jeans, and pointy ankle boots. This will be the cardigan you will want to wear while sipping on pumpkin lattes and strolling down streets covered in red, yellow, and brown leaves.
Verdict: Gwynnie Bee was the first subscription box I reviewed for My Subscription Addiction and remains one of my favorites! The weather is getting warmer and I am still at home for both of my jobs (which I am tremendously thankful for!), so my need for office clothing is low. You can usually find me in shorts and a T-shirt any and every day of the week. However, I still get excited to see my Gwynnie Bee box arrive! My lifestyle has changed, but Gwynnie Bee is a connection to my previous "normal." Even though the malls are going to be opening near me soon, I personally still have no desire to go out to shop till I drop during a pandemic. With Gwynnie Bee, the mall is brought to me. I can try on pieces, wear them as rentals if I like, and return them in a prepaid shipping bag without having to worry about washing the pieces-- Gwynnie Bee takes care of that, too!
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes! All three pieces are available to rent or purchase.
Value Breakdown: Gwynnie Bee’s costs range depending on your subscription and how many items you are sent at a time. I have the $95 three-item-at-a-time plan. This includes free shipping and returns. I can get as many pieces as I like monthly, as long as I return each item first. I got three items this month. The three items total up to $85, which is $10 less than my monthly subscription fee! However, take into account that one dress is extremely discounted and I would not have access to such a deal if I wasn't subscribed to Gwynnie Bee. Imagine how much more of a value the service would be if I had shipped the items back to receive more than the three pieces this month!
