Nomadik "Summer Readiness" Review
There is a small trifold pamphlet that goes over the three items included in this month's box as well as Nomadik tips, the Nomadik challenge, and some brand discounts.
MPOWERD Luci EMRG Light - Retail Value $14.99
I have one of these lanterns but Will commandeered it last year for the chicken coop, so another is welcome. They are truly very handy! I plan on stashing this one in the back windshield of my car since it is solar-powered. The fact that it functions as a lantern, flashing white light, flashing red light, and solid red light makes it great for locating things in the dark or signaling an emergency. It also is inflatable, which makes storage a breeze. When fully expanded the light floats in water and the frosted vinyl diffuses and magnifies the LED light.
Ace Camp 11-in-1 Multi-Tool - Retail Value $14.95
When I think of this sub I always think of multi-tools! This one is especially handy, with 11 different uses. Made of steel and aluminum, this thing is downright hefty! The tools include a knife, a saw, scissors, can opener, bottle opener, screwdrivers (both flathead and Phillips), nail file, pick, thread loop, and a corkscrew! Most of the tools have a little lip so they are easier to pull out than some others I have seen. There is also a loop on one edge to attach it to string or twine.
Sun Company Outsider 4-in-1 Survival Tool - Retail Value $12.99
Heck yeah, TWO multi-tools this month. This one seems to have the ones the other doesn't: namely a compass, thermometer, fire starter, and emergency whistle. My favorite part of this one is that the metal parts are removable so they don't interfere with the compass. Genius. There is also flint and tinder inside for fire-starting.
Skratch Labs Energy Chews in 'Raspberry', 50 g - Retail Value $2.45
I used to have a once a day Red Bull habit until I started working from home and had no reason to stop at the gas station to buy one each day. It took a few weeks, but I am mostly weaned off of caffeine though I do sometimes grab one small can on the weekends. Sure, these chews are made for energy during workouts, but honestly, my daily walks up the steep hill in the neighborhood still deserve a boost every so often. These have 50 mg of caffeine which is less than I used to enjoy, but still add some pep to my step without giving me a headache or withdrawal later. They also taste like yummy gummy snacks too, so this is a win-win! At a price lower than my daily Red Bull ever was, this might be a nice substitution for that drink AND some of my sweeter snacks, combined into one.
Skratch Labs Sport Hydration Drink Mix in 'Strawberry Lemonade', 0.8 oz - Retail Value $1.95
Finally, our last item is a pack of drink mix. I like drink mixes because while I am a water-a-holic, sometimes it is nice to add a little flavor to my Swell bottle and mix it up! This powder is sweet but not too sweet, and the flavor is actually quite light, which I enjoy, especially as the days get hotter and my walks with Tucker get longer and sweatier. I feel like the price is comparable to Powerade but without a lot of the ingredients I try to avoid in that brand.
Verdict: This month's Nomadik box was filled with useful items! The lantern will stay in my car with access to light, so I can use it on our fishing trips or in the event of an emergency. The multi-tools were both great for different reasons and I have stashed the 11-in-1 in my purse, just in case! The smaller one will also go into my car for trips. I also liked both of the consumables this time, and plan on purchasing more of each for the summer heat. These items have a total retail value of $47.33 which isn't a massive savings over the cost of the box + shipping ($37.94) but this is the sort of subscription where you aren't going to be floored by some outrageous value, but more by the quality and usefulness of the items inside.
