Stitch Fix Kids June 2020 Review

This month there was no delay in our Fix, but we received this email from StitchFix:

We noticed that you recently scheduled a Fix with us. We’re so excited to help you find something you love, however, we wanted to let you know that we are experiencing delays in our fulfillment center right now. We are working to get these delays reduced but unfortunately, your Fix will be arriving later than originally scheduled.

We truly appreciate your patience as we navigate this situation during these times and sincerely apologize for the delay. If receiving a Fix at a later date is not convenient for you, please don't hesitate to reach out to us at hello@stitchfix.com and we'd be happy to help you out. We look forward to being a part of your closet!

In our Stitch Fix Kids delivery, we received this cute sticker sheet. They also provide an envelope with a prepaid shipping label for easy returns and exchanges.

This is the invoice that was sent in the Fix. It provides specifics on the brand, size, and price of each item. They also give instructions at the bottom for how to check out and either purchase or return your items in the pre-paid postmarked envelope they provide. The items for my daughter came to a total of $218, but with the 25% discount (which they take off BEFORE they deduct the $20) and the $20 credit, our total drops down to $143.50. That's a savings of $74.50 on this Fix!

This is the included style sheet, which features pictures of all the clothing and a note from her stylist. Livi's stylist is Brittney again, although this is only the second time she has had this stylist.

Jayde Ankle Rain Boot by Joules, Size 1Y - Cost to Keep $34.00

Since Liv has a new stylist, this may be one of the things that got overlooked - we received a pair of rain boots in another Fix and I mentioned that we already had a pair and didn't need a second pair. That being said, these are cute and I love the lower profile of them. Liv really liked them a lot too, and they fit her well.

Here they are on.

Mali 2-Pack Knit Legging by Flapdoodles, Size 7 - Cost to Keep $18.00

This next item is a two-pack of leggings and it's just not something we need right now which is something I have also been noting when we received them in previous Fixes so I'm not quite sure why these were sent. We didn't try them on because they were connected by little plastic tags and I didn't want to mess with that knowing that we weren't keeping them. I do like that it's a 2-pack and you can't go wrong with basic black leggings. We didn't like the cat ones as much, but that's just a personal preference. They feel kind of like Halloween leggings to me since they feature a black cat!

The Classic Short Sleeve Tight Fitting Sleepwear Set by RUMI + RYDER, Size 7 - Cost to Keep $24.00

The other item we didn't try on this month are these really cute summery pajamas because they again had all of the plastic connectors and I knew we weren't keeping these due to the cost. I love the fun colors and summery graphics, but I don't like to pay so much for pajamas, and this seems like a lot for a single pair.

Torrie Tiered Ruffle Tutu Skirt, Size 7/8 - Cost to Keep $28.00

How beautiful is this skirt? It has layers and layers of beautiful pastel tulle of varying lengths and Liv lit up when she saw this one! It's super full and feels very luxe. It's definitely a special occasion skirt. It has a nice glittery gold elastic waistband and there is a layer of sheer white underneath. She really loved this one!

Tayli Cross Back Tank by Love Glam Girl, Size S - Cost to Keep $16.00

This top may not be fancy enough to wear with the skirt, but I love the beautiful colors! It's a great summer tank for a kid - simple and cute! The cross-back straps also make it a little more fun and it was really soft and fit her well.

Violeta Cuffed Denim Short by Revery Kids, Size 7 - Cost to Keep $18.00

Another item that I have repeatedly sent back noting that Liv does not wear them are jean shorts like these. Of course, they are a basic staple and this pair is both inexpensive and cute, but jeans are not something I can usually get her to wear; HOWEVER, little miss has changed her mind and decided that she will wear jean shorts, but just not jeans. I can't keep up! We were actually sent these shorts in a different color in April, and she didn't like them then, but apparently two months later they are acceptable. Go figure! These are big girl jeans and do not have an adjustable waistband and just a little bit of distressing. You can see these on her in the photos below. They are a little big on her, but not uncomfortably so.

Nini Twist Front Tee by Love Glam Girl, Size S - Cost to Keep $16.00

This tee is really cute with the cotton candy-colored tye-dye and the knot at the front. It also has another cat on it, but this one is much more fun since it is made out of reversible sequins. It's soft and it fit her well. She is wearing it with the jean shorts from above.

Marti Tie Knot Tee by Love Glam Girl, Size S - Cost to Keep $14.00

And we have another cat item! This shirt is a bit ridiculous and while I love the style of the actual shirt, I'm not a huge fan of the silly graphic, although it gave Liv a giggle. I love the deep coral-pink color and how it is longer in the back with the fun tie at the front. It is soft and flowy, but much too big on her. It would probably be cute paired with black leggings in the fall though!

The Pocket Hoodie by RUMI + RYDER, Size S - Cost to Keep $26.00

We received a hoodie in her last Fix and I sent it back noting that it was too warm here for a hoodie right now so I was surprised we were sent another one. This one is a bit more summery with the graphics and it is a little more lightweight, but still much too warm for summer weather here. Liv really liked it, but I fear she would outgrow it before it's actually cool enough for her to get some actual use out of it.

Yennefer Cold Shoulder Swing Dress by Chenault Girl, Size 7 - Cost to Keep $24.00

The last item is another cool weather item - a long sleeve dress. It is shorter in length and has the cold shoulder cut-outs so I guess it could work on a cooler summer day, but really this feels like a fall dress to me. Something to pair with leggings! Since Liv's growth rate is a bit unpredictable I don't want to buy ahead just yet, but this would be a cute one for fall. It's soft, flowy, and stretchy making it a good dress for a young girl!

The Verdict: I usually am pretty pleased with Stitch Fix Kids, but this month was mostly a miss for us for a few different reasons. I had previously given feedback that we don't need warmer clothing like leggings or long sleeves right now and there were several cool weather items in this Fix and summer has just begun. I understand that when they change stylists there may be some overlap such as with the boots, but we were sent leggings and a hoodie last month and I stated my reasons why we didn't keep them and it was the same stylist. Also, I'm not sure why there were so many cat items? We wouldn't have minded one cat item, but she sent us three and it just feels super-specific and is not something we've requested or made note of. We were able to find a few items that we really liked so we didn't lose the styling fee, but I'm hopeful that next month's Fix will pay a bit more attention to our feedback.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this Fix if you sign up today? Stitch Fix curates its Fixes based on each individual’s preferences as well as what’s available. What you get might not be the same as what we got, but you could get something that fits your child's style and size even better than the looks above! Sign up and see what they choose for you!

Value Breakdown: This styling service costs $20 with free shipping and returns. The total retail value of the items inside is $218.00. The invoice lists the cost of each item next to it, but if I keep all of the items, then I get a 25% discount. The $20 styling fee for the Fix is applied to the purchase no matter how many items you keep, and in this case, it would bring the total down to $143.50. That’s a discount of around 34% for these items!

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!

When my daughter was little, she would not wear “hard” pants. Eventually I realized that this meant denim, chinos, or anything else that wasn’t soft. Kids are so funny. That skirt is precious.

Some really cute items, but a lot of frustration this month. The tutu and cold shoulder dress were my favorites.

Yes, the perfect way to put it! The tutu is one of my favorites, too! 🙂
