Style Plan by Frank And Oak Review - May 2020
It's important to note that for a limited time, Frank and Oak is waiving their $25 styling fee and has extended their return policy to 30 days! That means you can sign up for the Style Plan for free and only pay for the items you hold on to.
*As a reminder, you will get charged for everything in your Style Plan box up-front when ordering and will receive a refund for anything you end up returning.
The other great thing I'd like to note is that they've added a button on most of their items to "Add to my next Style Plan box." This allows you to add items to your Style Plan box without the help of a stylist. Not every item has this feature, but many do. This is good news for picky people like myself who would end up chatting with my stylist most months to add items for me that I was interested in trying but weren't included in my box.
I was able to nab two outfits this month plus a couple of other items. Here's the first tee and shorts combo since it's getting HOT here in Pittsburgh!
The Hemp Tee in Oil Green, size medium - Retail Value $39.50/Member Price $34.50
Ok, this is my new favorite shirt. The more feminine-cut version of the hemp tee that I stole from Kurt last month, this one has pre-cuffed sleeves and a slim fit that isn't overly girlie. It fits like a glove and I love the texture of this shirt which feels sort of "raw." And look- it's not black, white, or grey! I think the oil green color is nice for spring, don't you? I've probably worn this three times already since getting it which speaks for itself. Need more colors!
The Stevie Good Cotton Jean Short in Black, size 31 - Retail Value $69.50/Member Price $59.50
These black washed denim shorts are awesome except the size is much too big for me. Since I wear a 31 in their jeans, I stuck with that size but I think I can go down to a 29 since the waist is much larger than expected. However, I do like how they aren't skin tight on, so I hope the legs are still a bit loose with the smaller size. There are two front and two back pockets, a button closure, zip fly, and belt loops; all classic denim features. The whiskering at the front is a little heavy-handed on these, but I think I need to not concentrate too much on it.
Here is the second outfit- a tank and shorts combo. Overall, this one is a bit dressier than the previous outfit.
The Supersoft Fluid Tank Top in Black, size medium - Retail Value $29.50/Member Price $27.50
Tank tops can be a little hit or miss with me but this one is a big win. "Supersoft" is the perfect word for this 73% Tencel modal and 27% polyester sleeveless number since it lives up to its name in feel. I like that the neckline isn't too scooped which makes it less casual and gives me what I think is a slightly elevated look. I think the medium is a great fit on this top and it's just so comfortable that I don't want to take it off.
Linen-Tencel® High-Waisted Shorts in Black, size 10 - Retail Value $69.50/Member Price $64.50
I find these shorts SO flattering on! I like how loose they are even though the high waist fits well and the pleats give me room to breathe. They have a lining inside, a side zip to get on, and two slit pockets in the front. The back of the waist is cinched which makes these shorts super comfortable to wear. I love the cuffs and when coupled with the pleats, they have a very vintage late '80s/early '90s vibe, especially with the linen.
Button-Up Slip Cami in Black, size medium - Retail Value $59.50/Member Price $54.50
Camisoles become my go-to top once hot weather hits and I pair them with jeans, shorts, skirts, you name it. This black cami has adjustable straps and features fabric-covered buttons all the way down the front although you can put this on without unbuttoning any of them. The medium ended up being much too large and boxy so that tucking it in just created some weird silhouettes on me. This top definitely has a bit of a dressier vibe since it's 53% viscose and 47% eco vero viscose. I think once I size down, this will give me exactly what I'm looking for on warm days.
No-Show Socks in White - Retail Value $9.50/Member Price $8.50
Another summer go-to for me are no-show socks. I prefer to not wear socks at all, but that's not really an option when I want to wear sneakers. No-show socks do just what they say while keeping my feet dry in an otherwise sweaty situation. The problem is that good socks like these are hard to come by. They either slip off inside my shoe, or they are so tight that they end up hurting my heel. Enter: these babies from Frank And Oak. They have ample fabric at the heel that fit snuggly and the grip on the inside ensures that they don't slip off. Yay! Made of 76% organic cotton, 16% cool-plus polyester, and 8% spandex, they're comfortable and cool.
Verdict: My latest Style Plan by Frank And Oak arrived just in time for the 80+ degree weather we're having in Pittsburgh. For years I didn't wear shorts, but with styles like the ones Frank And Oak is serving up, I can't resist. I like that I picked up both casual and slightly more dressy items that I can wear through the summer. I'm lowkey obsessed with my new green hemp tee and the linen shorts are my new jam!
