Every month, VetPet Box sends toys, supplies, and wellness items:
You always get a pamphlet with information on a health topic. This month's topic related to litter box issues. (We don't show the inside because the information is considered a benefit of subscribing.) I am pretty good at recognizing UTIs in pets, and Monkey has had issues with lower urinary tract disease in the past. I am noticing that Monkey is eliminating inappropriately lately and I think, unfortunately, it has maybe a little bit to do with cognitive decline (he is about 14? I just found him outside in 2007 and he was an adult then so I don't know for sure).

On to the items:
Pet Creamery Screaming Bonito (75g) - Retail Value $7.99
This is made with lactose-free goat milk powder and bonito flakes (they're kind of like tuna). We've had this before and my kitties are fans. It doesn't make for great pictures because they're all just circled around a plate and you can only see their backs. But anyway, you mix it up with some water, stir, and freeze. You don't have to give it all to your cat(s) at once; if you put the lid back on you can store it in the freezer for up to 6 weeks. This is a fun treat for summer!
Bavarian Cat Toy Welli-Fish - Retail Value $6
These have valerian in them and they are STINKY. Like old socks or something. But, my cats really like these toys (all toys from this brand smell the same) and that is what matters. Monkey, especially, is a fan. This has a very soft outer texture and feels kind of like a beanbag or something similar in terms of the stuffing. I kept it in the plastic until a play session to keep the smell fresh.
All for Paws Catoon Kicker Sneaky Cat Beige
I can't find this for sale in the US. That is sometimes the case with All for Paws toys, although they do appear in a lot of different cat subscription boxes. Anyway, this is on the larger side and is good for wrestling, which I sometimes catch Monkey doing with toys, even though this is just about as big as he is. (Monkey may not look it but he is by far my lightest cat under all that fur.)
From the Field Oscar de la Bird (x 2) - Retail Value $9.98 ($4.99 each)
Usually Madison is my fan of feathers and From the Field toys, and he did like these, but I found a surprising fan in Sneaky as well. You can see her reaction in one of the photos below. The feathers seem securely attached although this is probably a "supervised play only" toy for my crew.
Cat Love Terra Toys - Retail Value $4.99
This is a new toy material for us. It is hollow and lightweight with some feathers which makes it much more appealing. Also it is free of glue and is made from all natural materials so it is eco friendly. This is very easy for cats to bat around on the floor, though not as easy to grip, so it is more of a Monkey kind of item.
NHV Pet Omega 3 (3.4 fl oz) - Buy 8 fl oz for $37.95
Here is this month's wellness item. Omega 3 fatty acids are good for all kinds of things including reducing inflammation, joint support, and skin and coat condition. I am still trying to figure out the best way to give this to my kitties (I am trying it out on Monkey first since he is the oldest) as they will not eat kibbles that have had this applied to them (they are overly sensitive to changes/differences in their food) but I am not quite to the point of forcing it on him with a syringe.
Feline Greenies Dental Treats Oven Roasted Chicken Flavor (2.5 oz) - Buy 2.1 oz for $2.59
These were hugely popular with all three of my cats. They are made in the US and come in a resealable package for freshness. They are crunchy treats that are supposed to help clean cats' teeth (because let's be realistic, who has a cat who will let you clean his or her teeth? When I still had Angus it was a challenge just to squirt chlorhexidine rinse in his mouth). Sneaky will probably end up eating most of these because she pushes the boys out of the way.
Snack21 Wild Pacific Salmon Snacks (25g) - Retail Value $8.31
Sneaky likes to bite these but she really has a hard time actually eating them. In general my cats don't do so great with dried meat-style snacks, especially the ones with a denser texture. Which is too bad, because they all wanted to stick their heads in the bag, so the smell must have been quite appealing to them.

Verdict: I couldn't calculate a total value for the June VetPet Box for cats because not every item was for sale online, and one item was only available in a different size. However, I think this was a pretty good month for the multi-cat box. There were toys that appealed to each of my cats, which is great since they're all seniors (Sneaky is about 12, Madison is 13, and Monkey is about 14) and harder to please, and omega 3 fatty acids are good for senior pets for all kinds of reasons. The ice cream is a fun thing to do every now and then, too, although I would never remember to order it on my own! And the reminders from the education booklet about litter box habits are important.
