BarkBox is a reader-favorite monthly subscription box for dogs.
BarkBox customizes your box to your dog’s size. For reference, this review is for the medium size, which is recommended for dogs 20-50 lbs. We recently changed the size because Tucker, our Standard Poodle, is the most playful pup in the house when it comes to toys.
FYI: Two of my dogs are quite old! Piper (the minpin) has to eat soft food and has trouble with hard treats. Charlie is a pug, and a glutton who will eat LITERALLY anything. They both still really enjoy toys, though it has been years since either of them managed to destroy anything.
If you have a younger pup or just one who needs toys of the rough and tumble variety, I highly recommend trying the Super Chewer subscription (read our reviews to learn more!).
My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

June 2020 BarkBox "Podium Pups" Review
The details behind our items this month were printed inside, on the box lining.
The June box included 2 toys, 2 bags of treats, and a chew - this is close to what you can expect with your monthly subscription, though it does vary for everyone once in a while.
A lot of these items are marked as 'Sold Out' on the BarkBox app - but they have a little 'As Seen In BarkBox' section of the BarkShop where you can grab items featured in monthly themes.
Treaties: Duck Recipe, 4.5 oz - Retail Value $5.00
Tucker is a big jerky fan and these strips of dried lamb were calling his name. They were on the larger side so I reserved them just for him. He loved shredding them and then eating all the pieces. Each of the themed bags this month features BarkBox team pups, which is really freaking cute.
Tucker loves these so much that his ears literally disappear whenever I offer him one.
Treaties: Duck Recipe
This shape is more of what I would give Charlie and Piper. They aren't super soft, so I break them up into smaller pieces for Piper, who still loves them. They were also a duck flavor but with a strong smokiness that the pups were very into.
This picture was taken before Charlie hurled himself like a furry cannonball into my abdomen to get the treat.
Coach Acornopolis Toy - Retail Value $10.00
This coach squirrel is too cute! His head is one big disc squeaker and his tiny body and metallic tail are stuffed and crinkly! Tucker loved this one because his head is the perfect size to really chew down on.
Tucker is a star athlete, but harbors a little resentment toward his uber-strict squirrel coach.
At the end of the day though, they have to work together to go for the gold!
Retrieve the Gold Toy - Retail Value $10.00
I was so thrilled to see a wearable toy this month. We might not have the Summer Olympics to look forward to this year, but at least my pups can proudly wear this 'I Participated' medal with pride. The rainbow pull strap closes with velcro and the metal itself is a very loud squeaker
Charlie got this medal for best bodyslam trying to get a lamb treat out of my hand. USA!
Simple Sweet Potato Chew - Retail Value $3.00
Tucker has a bit of a sweet tooth and loves anything with sweet potato. I knew he would adore this chew. He has been my WFH office buddy for a few months now, so I like to sneak him these chews when the other two are snoozing in bed.
Verdict: What a fun BarkBox! The themes are always so fun and timely, and though the Olympics are on hold right now, this curation was super fun and a good stand-in. Though my pups are not at all athletic, they all loved these toys and treats so much. I am always thrilled with a wearable toy and I have been low-key harassing all of my friends and family with shots of my pups wearing their medal.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No. Customer care let us know that your first box will now always be either their Welcome Box or the current month’s box, followed by the normal schedule the following month.
