Laurel & Reed June 2020 Review
The first card is just a general L&R info card while the second has specific info about the items in brands included inside.
Pursoma Resurrection Bath Soak, 10 oz - Retail Value $36.00
This might be the most expensive and fancy salt soak I have ever tried! Inside is a bunch of super chunky salt with another packet that is filled with French green clay. The scent is likely not for everyone. It smells exactly like a day on the coast, with brine, salt, and seaweed. I used to live on the New England coast and I adore this scent, but if you are expecting something floral or spa-like, this is not it. What it is though, is a wonderful and detoxing experience! The combo of clay and salt should be harsher but I found this soak to be utterly relaxing and super softening to my skin. I loved this experience!
Lavido Age Away Hydrating Cream, 1.69 fl oz - Retail Value $55.00
Your girl LOVES a heavy-duty moisture cream, and this one is great! It features all of the usual suspects I look for when I need major hydration: botanical oils (sesame, seabuckthorn, jojoba, pumpkin), aloe, rose water, and more combined with blemish-fighting ingredients like salicylic and lactic acids. It feels great on my skin but is heavier, so I have used it exclusively at night. In the colder months, this would transition to being a day cream for me for sure though! It absorbs easily and leaves behind a dreamy velvet finish. It also has a very light, natural scent.
UpCircle Coffee Face Scrub Herbal Blend, 100 mL - Retail Value $16.00
UpCircle Scrub Tube Squeezer - Retail Value $3.00
I have mixed feelings about this scrub that stem from the fact that this was way too rough to be used on my face. The granular sugar pieces were so rough on my skin, and this was more of a scratchy experience than an exfoliating one. Historically, I don't like coffee scrubs either, so my expectations here were low. I will say that I actually adore the smell of this stuff. Something about that dark coffee mixed with bright botanicals (orange, tea tree, rosemary, thyme, and more) is SO good. I would wear this as a perfume! While I would never use this on my face again, it makes an utterly fantastic body scrub that leaves behind an oil finish you can massage into your skin as you dry off. Truly a treat. So, bottom line, I love this stuff. Just not on my face.
Also included was a super handy tube squeezer! These are a game-changer if you want to really get as much product out of any tube without cutting it open.
Yuni Beauty Guiding Light Illuminating Multipurpose Beauty Balm, 2 oz - Retail Value $25.00
Finally, my last item is a pot of balm from a brand I have been meaning to check out because they now offer it at my local Target and all of my cool yoga friends really love it. This balm has a golden sort of glow due to micro shimmers that don't really read as sparkling, but more glowing. It can be used nearly anywhere, from dry hands, legs, the ends of your hair, anywhere that needs a little radiance and moisture. It is a hydrating mix of shea and olive oil, along with other goodies like vitamin E and jojoba!
The Verdict: This was my first Laurel & Reed box and I am kind of into it. I liked how wide the range of brands and product types were, but they all still felt extra special and of high quality. There actually wasn't a single dud in here for me, though I will be repurposing that scrub for body parts that aren't my face. The salt soak and cream were both used in tandem to form a very spa-like night, and I also lathered my legs post-bath with the Yuni balm. I am all about luxuries at home and this box certainly delivered. This is a more expensive box, but with a value of $135.00, what's not to love?
