meowbox June 2020 Review
meowbox has a lot of exclusive toys that are usually pretty popular with my cats. From my perspective, it’s nice to see some things that don’t turn up in other cat subscription boxes:
The information card typically just gives a URL for finding out more information about the items in the box. The picture is adorable, as usual. This month had a camping theme.
This month there was also a
Unfortunately I can't take them up on this offer because I placed my first order with Koha a really long time ago -- Mr. Kitty, who has been gone since April 2019, used to eat their kangaroo pate. If you are curious about nutritional values in their food, though, definitely contact them through their website (linked below) as they sent me a detailed spreadsheet when I had a question. (Balancing IBD and diabetes needs can be quite difficult, as I learned with Mr. Kitty.)
On to the items:
Koha Turkey Pate (3 oz) - Buy 24 cans for $33.36
This was the brand we got the coupon for. My cats had tried the kangaroo (leftovers from Mr. Kitty) but the turkey was new. All three of mine liked this, with Sneaky hogging the most. (Pictures of cats eating wet food off a plate aren't that interesting so none are shown below.) You can buy individual cans of some of the flavors (in the 5.5 oz size) which is great if you are trying to figure out what is compatible with your cat's digestive tract and/or what your cat will eat, without shelling out for a whole case, since I have not seen this brand in stores.
Shine Purright LED Flashlight
Awkward name aside, this one was fun for me. Lately each month has been sending a light-up or sound toy, and while my cats don't care about those things so much, this was an actual working flashlight. Perhaps not super powerful but I took some fun pictures with it, which you can see below. Definitely appropriate for a camping themed box!
Vermont Home Grown Felt Fire
This was a no-stuffing catnip toy handmade from felt. Usually my boys like these sorts of toys best but Sneaky took it upon herself to try to DESTROY this toy and it held up to some pretty violent play.
Happy Camper Catnip Compass Finger Dangler
Sneaky also seemed to enjoy this a great deal. You can see several pictures of her playing with it below. meowbox often includes a wand or dangler toy and these are some of my favorites to play with, with my kitties. Also I get a lot of good pictures.
Camp meowbox Gone Fishin' Catnip Canoe
I totally didn't realize this at the time I took this picture, but this had a fish on a string inside the canoe. (By the way, the canoe is a crinkle toy.) You can see the fish in the kitty pictures below. Anyway, the fish on the string was pretty well-liked and it also had some ribbon-like bits that were quite interesting to Madison, although he was a bit camera-shy this month, as he has been fairly often lately. (He goes through phases. He is officially a teenager now, having been born about June 2007. In cat years I guess that makes him an old man...)
Gratuitous cat photos:
Verdict: I couldn't calculate a total value for June’s meowbox because most of the items weren't yet for sale in their shop. They will likely show up later, however, sometimes it takes them a few weeks. There were a lot of fun items this month, with Sneaky having the most fun, although each cat liked at least one or two items. As always, the theme was fun and the items were cute and/or clever. My crew also liked that everything had a different texture and/or was a different type of toy.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? It is too late for the June box, so your subscription would likely start with July, but you can buy some of the individual items from the meowbox store; just wait a week or two for the items to show up as they're not listed yet.
Value Breakdown: At $22.95 for the subscription plus free shipping, you are paying approximately $4.59 per item.
