BarkBox is a reader-favorite monthly subscription box for dogs.

BarkBox customizes your box to your dog’s size. For reference, this review is for the medium size, which is recommended for dogs 20-50 lbs. We recently changed the size because Tucker, our Standard Poodle, is the most playful pup in the house when it comes to toys.

FYI: Two of my dogs are quite old! Piper (the minpin) has to eat soft food and has trouble with hard treats. Charlie is a pug, and a glutton who will eat LITERALLY anything. They both still really enjoy toys, though it has been years since either of them managed to destroy anything.

If you have a younger pup or just one who needs toys of the rough and tumble variety, I highly recommend trying the Super Chewer subscription (read our reviews to learn more!).

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

July 2020 BarkBox "Frenchies in Paris" Review

The details behind our items this month were printed inside, on the box lining.

The July box included 2 toys, 2 bags of treats, and a chew - this is close to what you can expect with your monthly subscription, though it does vary for everyone once in a while.

A lot of these items are marked as 'Sold Out' on the BarkBox app - but they have a little 'As Seen In BarkBox' section of the BarkShop where you can grab items featured in monthly themes.

Chicken Jerky Treats, 4 oz

This BarkBox arrived just in time to come down to Tennessee with myself and Tucker to visit my parents (Tucker and Piper went along for the ride. Charlie stayed home to keep Will company!). They have a little Boston Terrier, Lacee, who is treat crazy! Both she and Tucker absolutely adored these larger strips of 100% chicken!

Zero chill.

Beef Bites Treats, 1.5 oz

These little treats are made of 100% dried beef and the dogs really loved them! They are a lot smaller than the chicken jerky treats and are a great size for training rewards.

Lacee gives them 4 paws up.

Bonejour Baguette Toy

I knew this toy would be a hit because it has two parts! The baguette has stuffing and two disk squeakers and the bag itself is filled with crinkle and had a massive squeak at the bottom. You can pull the baguette out for your pup to enjoy or leave the set together to let them figure it out themselves. I am also giggling that the baguette is wearing a beret!!

Tucker is a carb enthusiast and all-around Good Boy.

He seemed to have loads of fun pulling the bread out of the bag.

Croak Monsieur Toy

Our second toy is a little frog with some beefy squeaky legs! He also has crinkle in his abdomen and another large disk squeaker in his head. His legs flop around when the pups are playing with him and it looks hilarious. The tag mentioned he has bungee arms, though mine didn't. This was a little confusing but the dogs certainly didn't care. This was the favorite toy this month for sure.

The frog's face was so funny.

Even Piper loved this one!

The pups enjoyed swapping and fetching both toys this month very much!

Chicken Stick Chew

As I mentioned above, Tucker and I are on a road trip! I like to stash sticks like this to keep him occupied in the car. He makes quick work of them, but they do add some happiness to an otherwise pretty boring drive.

Verdict: I am totally tickled by this French-themed BarkBox. The treats were yummy and healthy and the toys were so funny and filled with my pup's favorite elements: crinkle and squeak! I loved taking everything down on my road trip to share with my mom's pup too!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No. Customer care let us know that your first box will now always be either their Welcome Box or the current month’s box, followed by the normal schedule the following month.

Value Breakdown: At $35/month + free shipping for this box, each of the 5 items has an average cost of $7.00.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

This theme is so cute!! I DIE!! The baguette’s beret reminds me of a pat of butter! And the frog is froggin’ adorable. Great review as always.

We just got a puppy and subscribed to Bark box for the Scoob box. I opted for the 6 month sub so I would only have to pay $25 per box which seems fair. The box came yesterday and I am amazed at the quality! My pup loves his new toys and the treats were a hit. I also just bought a few Fall toys from the shop today – the Apple and the Fall tree. Now I’m wondering if I jumped the gun and those toys will be in the September box which will be a huge bummer. Does anyone know if that’s a possibility? Would they put toys in the shop that will be in the next months box?

I think only the toys on the “As Seen In Barkbox” tab could potentially be in the actually barkboxes, so if the toys you bought weren’t from there, I think you’re good! I also buy toys from their shop in addition to the monthly boxes because they were just so cute!

We just subscribed during a ‘double toys/food’ for your first box special offer. We have a 5 lb yorkie mix puppy. She had so much fun going through all the toys! But our family had perhaps slightly more fun because the toys are SO CUTE! Our favorite was a tour t-shirt for the 80’s metal band Slayer toy that said Spayer lol. The tour dates and places on the back of the shirt were all puns as well. The snacks were high quality and would have been pretty expensive if sourced on Amazon separately.

Oh, also, I was able to get the cheaper 6 months sub rate without paying for it up front! I only had to pay the monthly amount.

I was very impressed with the quality of the toys and treats.

Adorable! My sister has 3 Boston Terriers and a house bunny. I have decided that “chill” is not a Boston trait. Those 3 girls are crazy. Louie used to get Bark Boxes. Loved them. His Mommy can’t afford those at this time. I do highly recommend BarkBox. The toys are sturdy and the treats are top quality. Love you dogs💕

We just subscribed to BarkBox and could pick from the June box or the Scoob box. We got the Scoob box and our dog lovvvvved it. The snacks are long gone and she won’t let the toys be. It’s a great box!
