Bespoke Post "Kombucha" Review

This box contained everything needed to brew kombucha at home.

Kombucha Making Kit - Retail Value $45.00

I am a kombucha addict, y'all. It started out as a way to replace my daily Red Bull habit but is honestly even more expensive. At around $4 a pop, the thought of brewing my own sounded fun and cheap! This kit comes with enough stuff for two 1/2 gallon brews, so it was an easy pick this month from Bespoke.

I eagerly rushed to open this kit as soon as I got home with it. Will thought this was a beer brewing kit at first and was SO excited. Then I crushed his dreams by explaining that it was for kombucha AKA fermented tea. (Don't worry, next month we are making cider!). He has a lot of homebrew experience and even though he hates even the thought of kombucha, he went into brewer mode immediately, pulling out a gallon of spring water and bleaching the inside of my jar for me.

My one big complaint about this kit is that it doesn't actually come with instructions. Instead, you have to go to a website listed on an included card that doesn't actually give very clear instructions for this specific size of kit. I did finally find some helpful information after some digging.

This whole process was actually so effortless. The hardest part was waiting for the tea to cool. I learned that in order to make the kombucha fizzy, I would need to bottle it after the initial 7-9 days and wait a little longer, which I am totally planning on doing.

I tucked my precious jar back into a shady area of my kitchen counter where I knew it would stay dark and cool.

And now we wait!

The Big Book of Kombucha by Hannah Crum and Alex LaGory, 400 pages - Retail Value $26.95

Unless I end up sincerely regretting it, I do plan on brewing kombucha again! This FOUR HUNDRED PAGE book literally has every single thing I could ever think of about how to brew my next batch along with so many recipes (400+). It is also just a really beautiful book with so many pretty images. This was a perfect addition to this box and kit and is sure to keep me interested in more and more kombucha brews!

Verdict: This Bespoke Post contained a kit I am super excited about. Getting through the next 7-9 days is going to be hard! Until then, I will have to brush up on my kombucha knowledge with my new book. Bespoke Post always has the most unique things to choose from which keeps the whole subscription feeling fresh and exciting. Hopefully, my 'booch turns out as tasty as I dream it will.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yep! Brew with me, friends!

Value Breakdown: This box cost $45 + $3.95 shipping meaning I saved about 30% with my Bespoke Post membership over the retail price of $71.95.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

I have been brewing kombucha for years & now all my friends been gifted “continuous brew method” crock & SCOBY. Back then no kits were available so I grew my own SCOBY from tiny slime in store-bought bottle. It took 6 months. Now I have a 5-gallon bucket full of that SCOBY “great grand babies” that are the size of dinner plates and i can’t just throw them away. If anyone wants a giant SCOBY + starter liquid, I can sure swap them for something.
I bought this Kombucha book on Amazon when it came out to experiment with recipes and flavorings. Highly recommend it. Overall, the Bespoke kit is definitely worth $45 for everything you’ll get. Even $55 no subscription price is still good. Good glass jars are expensive.

I was given a ‘mother’ a few years ago & started making it. The hard part was finding bottles with stoppers. It was a lot of fun to blend with juices, have tastings, peel off the new ‘mother’s & share.
